Talking about menstruation has got me wondering what African people used prior to pads and tampons? That solution whatever it was could greatly assist in these challenging economic times.

We use clothes, cut the size as face towels and or modern towels as it absorbs the blood better. They must be washed properly and keep for ourselves as we considered those periods towels to be very sacred.
As our sister said in the video, those blood can be used for both negative and positive ways against a person

❤ I am not African. I am colombian, but our indigenous people were colonized for Spanish people, and we are a mix of African, indigenous, and Spanish people. It is very important to know because there is knowledge that, unfortunately, we have not had a chance to know. Catholics religion was our main base for our relationship with God and nature. Thank you. It is so beautiful and gives us power.

Hey sisi I love how you break down about our traditions without bashing or looking down on western culture just being matter of fact about their influence. I just had a baby and I am a Christian Zulu and (not but) followed our traditions that have to do with child birth such as going home, being secluded with the baby, burying inkaba and burning inyamazane. I had a revelation over the past year concerning spirituality and theology and Christianity and I have a 'mix bag' of beliefs but a truth has been revealed to me that I do not feel the need to defend. Would love to have a conversation with you.

Thank you for your video. Just to mention that in Senegal and many other African countries, you can ask for the placenta at the hospital and they will give it to you. It is also something you can ask if you give birth abroad. It is common practice for women who are aware of the importance to arrange that the placenta be return to them. Even in the US, the doula or midwife can preserve it as you desire. Same for the baby foreskin after circumcision, which is also important for the well-being of the boy. As more women become aware, they can make better choices.

asante sana dada. ujuzi wako wa mambo ya kiafrika ni zawadi kwetu. nashukuru kwa niaba ya waafrika wa Kenya.
just to add to this point 6:15, the creator of life in Gikuyu is called Mumbi. All the nine tribes of the Agikuyu come from the nine daughters "created" by Mumbi; Wanjirũ, Wambũi, Njeri, Wanjikũ, Nyambũra, Wairimũ, Waithĩra, Wangarĩ, and Wangũi
Mumbi translates to "creator" in many dialects across Africa especially in Kenya.
These are the descendants of the fig tree; the mkuyu tree is swahili. The fig tree people, the Agikuyu
