In this video I was out in my boat with my friend Keith and we were targeting Flounder. We had a slow start but ended up finding a good bite in deep water. I was using my tried and true method of catching them and it wasn't really working. But my buddy had a different approach and he killed it this day! Lesson is always keep and open mind and learn whatever you can from each trip out!

Must've been tough on the fishing ego! A couple years back a friend invited me carp fishing. Before I was even fishing he had caught two. We were fishing 50' apart and almost identical methods, but he was catching all the fish. I think he ended up with a half-dozen to my skunk. He let me play in a couple of his fish, which was really nice!
Great video as always man!! If I could get off these reds I'd like to try some flounder fishing, but I rarely target them. I've been hooked on top water redfish blow ups and hard to quit em!! Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it !!
Big strip baits like bluefish or croaker work great on a 2 or 3oz white bucktail. Got my pb that way..

Weight and color of bucktail ( in our area I generally use white or chartruse ) varies due to time of year and current , If memory serves I had a 2oz spro bucktail and a 3/8oz tsunami glass minnow w/ silicone skirt. Do a youtube search of John Skinner videos ; John has a good video of how to tie the tandem rig. I use a 30lb main line and tie my tandem rigs with 20 or 30lb florocarbon leader material.

I've been a dedicated fluke fisherman for more years than I care to admit. To give you a sense of how long, I caught my first fluke in 1960, at the age of 10, (you do the math), from the old Magnolia St. Pier in Long Beach.
I've fluke fished from Egg Harbor to Block Island, but never managed to get that elusive double digit beast. I came close a few times, but alas and alack..
In any event. I've moved to SW Florida this past year. I know that flatties are available here in God's waiting room, but I was wondering about 2 things. Are they available to target in the Charlotte Harbor area and will the tackle that I used in the bays and ocean waters around L.I. work down here?

David Teitel They are, but check Florida regs for size limits. Larger ones are usually caught in the winter.

Looked back at a couple of your other flounder fishing videos and looks like you use 3 different rods. A tsunami classic, the st croix, and a star rod all with the same accurist. Whats the difference between the 3 of them, which one do you like best and what particular model is that st croix? Also curious as to what rod your buddy is using
I like the Tsunami for 3/4 oz and lighter bucktails. Heavier setups I use the other 2. They are both great, but the St Croix is lighter

You do know that John Skinner always takes the hooks out of the flounder for the guys!🤷♂️
Not a new method. Been using that rapid jigging method for decades! Literally!! Works very well with big strip baits around deep structure. 50 to 100 ft of water.
I have used rapid jigging as well for many years, but I have never just sat in one spot with the lower bucktail sitting on the bottom while slightly jigging the upper jig. That is what I was referring too. Jon Skinner doesn't ever mention this method. He is always about moving at least 1 mph...
