In this video I was out at Lynnhaven Inlet in my Kayak and had to deal with some heavy currents and choppy conditions. It was tough but I was able to find the right combination to pull some nice fish from around the pilings there.
Dude a can’t even throw a cast net from the dock. Mad skills lol😂
I saw you fishin there brother! I got under the bridge at 5:30 am and saw u come out! I was on land and got some nice flattys 🔥
Awesome man! Glad you got on em!
I take it you live in the greater Tidewater area correct? One of my favorite things to do is fish for the puppy drum at night in Lynnhaven Inlet during the summer
Hey jesse great video! What kind of mount is that beside your fishfinder? Im guessing its a transducer mount?
That is my livescope transducer mount
@@SouthernReelsFishing sweet thanks for the reply.
Sorry about your rod that sucks! What is the reel you are using?
Jesse do you know where Pecan Grove is
Good to see you out again--and catching--as always! You make it look so easy! Whetting my appetite for some saltwater action!
I’ve noticed that you keep the big claw every time you used a fiddler crab, what do you do with them?
They will catch sheeps as well if you run out of fiddlers. Just crack it open to get the juices flowing and put it on the hook however you can
@@SouthernReelsFishing awesome! Thanks for the tip🤙🏽
looked like some dang good action, were gunna have a good year buddy!
Always good to see you again brother
Yup! Its getting better every day now
Dude I can’t even throw a cast net from the dock. Mad skills from a kayak 😂
That area has absolutely been stacked with sheepshead lately. I have a couple little spots near there that have been producing lots of fish for me. I'm gonna try finger mullet under the bridge next time I go
Another great video! Keep them coming!!
Thanks! Will do!
If you're right there, you should try the soul food at big Charlie's truck stop, good sustenance for a day on the water ! This video was great !!!
I have a rod you need to try.
Hey man I'm up north in Ocean City strong easterly winds are really messing the fishing up this week. Its impossible to get good content for the channel
Yeah the weather has been rough...
I had a fish snap a rod of mine the other day worst part was digging the graphite out of my hand. Once again awesome video
Sorry to hear that
Good job on the sheep head Jesse nice work going to have to get you another rod now big red broke it ,them suckers are Powerful Fish Buddy .👍
Yes they are! And thanks!
Great info, Jesse! My spots have hit a dry spell for the past few weeks. We will get together some day in the future for some epic lines and times.
Trout season is coming! Good time to get out together
@@SouthernReelsFishing That sounds like a plan! Send me a text or call. I can do the same since you have videos to make. No worries, we will get together.
At 8:15 you can see me left side of the screen struggling to fish and fight the current with a paddle lol. I was right behind you casting between the bridge supports just before your rod broke.
Cool man! It was a nice day out there
You broke the lucky stick boy it really makes your blood boil a little while after fishing and you think about my dad gone rod I feel you bro I just had a brand new Penn Battle just take off out the boat so I know how it feels
Yeah it sucks but always could be worse
Great video! what kind of line are you using and what pound test?
For the Sheepshead Power Pro ultra slick 15 lb test on the light setup used in this video
@@SouthernReelsFishing Thanks for the tip! I've been using 30 pound braid so maybe lighter would be better.
looked like you might have bumped the wooden beam there.. and it snapped...
No it didn't hit the beam... I thumbed the spool and thats when it snapped
How long do the sheep head stick around and whats a good rig for them with bait? I assume sand flea?
Til the water temps hit around 60 or so
nice video thanks
Most welcome
Look man i realize youve done this a thousand times but im going out friday for the first time ever what advice would you give?
Don't give up until you catch them... Patience prevails
Rip to your rod
What hell he say at 2:19? Lol
Get away from that pilling
I've been watching your videos. My husband and I have been going to the concrete ships for 20 years. Haven't tried to sheepshead fish before until I watched your video. The sheepshead fish are a bitch to catch. Thank you for your videos. 👍I haven't caught the sheepshead fish yet. We are usually anchored out on our boat. Fishing and crabbing. We catch small croakers and spot. There is a difference between croakers and horse croakers.I ate a big puppy drum for the first time. Big enough to feed four people. Love your videos. 🙂👍 I'm 62, do you think that a cast net could work? Make a video showing exactly how you hook up a rig for what fish your trying to catch.
Chesapeake va checking in
Do you use braid or mono for your main line around bridges? I use braid but have gotten cut off in the pilings some and have considered using mono for the abrasion resistance.
Use braid for your main line
You'll never feel the bite from these fish with mono
@@afout07 I brought that up to my dad and told him that i wouldn't really feel the bite. He looked at me and started laughing. When I asked him what was up, he replied "you must think that nobody ever caught a sheepshead before braid huh?" Point taken pops.
@@jmnorris50 fair enough but why not use braid and increase your chances?
@@afout07 Ive lost several big ones around the pilings. Mono has a higher abrasion resistance. Ive been thinking about it and will probably tie on a longer mono/flouro leader and keep the braid as my main line. Might up it from 20lb braid to 30.
@@jmnorris50 a longer leader definitely helps. I just to get away from the pilings quickly when I hook one. The problem with using heavy line is that they might not bite, they can be line shy. I use 20lb braid with a 15lb fluoro leader. I've only lost one fish to a break off this year
Tight lines 😎
Get them Jessie
Man that sucks he broke your rod and then you didn't get him too but they'll be days like that
Yup!
He bud let me know some good ramps near elizabeth city I can catch puppy drum flounder an striper
Hard to say I dont really fish that area
I am not far from obx
Bro thats called high sticking...cant pull straight up on a fish like that with rods wound that tight..i only know about it having been guilty of the same thing😀
Were do you normally catch a lot of flounder because we love them but can’t ever catch them and don’t know where to go if you would like to tell me privately message me to my Instagram jhook_nhunt
