Florida Highway Patrol has released dash camera footage of a Trooper apprehending a suspect after he intentionally struck her patrol car with his vehicle, then led her on a high-speed chase through bumper-to-bumper traffic on the Florida Turnpike. On April 24, 2018, Trooper Vanessa Franceschi was conducting a traffic stop when the unidentified suspect drove his Honda Civic into the rear of her patrol car. Trooper Franceschi pursued the Honda as the driver sped down the emergency lane and the shoulder of the highway, past thick traffic. The Trooper was able to conduct a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT), pushing the Honda into a wall and making it impossible for the suspect to escape. According to the arrest report, the driver, identified as Raumel Quntero, mentioned he intentionally struck Franceschi's patrol car. Trooper Franceschi sustained minor injuries following the crash. No other motorists were harmed. The suspect was charged with Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Felony Fleeing and Eluding and Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Injuries.

1)Never H+R a cop.

If the cop hasn't returned for 15 minutes, you are legally allowed to leave.
luckiest guy ever right?
Fuck that. I'd leave as soon as the cop drove away. The facts speak for themselves that it's a dangerous place to be sat parked up, with too many shit drivers who don't keep their eyes open. If they' really want to contact you later, they've got the reg plate.
I'm wondering if the trooper still has that drivers license and info lol. She never was able to walk back to the car. I'd say they called the first driver after, and probably let them off given the situation.
lmao ty for the chuckle, I was thinking the same what if she had his license n he was like ok WTF do I do now??
That guy she initially pulled over never got his license back lmao

She is one hell of a cop. She needs to be a nascar driver. She really hung in there. Kudos girl.
All she did was get wet tailgating at 100 mph and then she got lucky, before causing a fatal accident. Also could've been dead, coming up to a tinted car like that, meh.
@@nostromov7892 Lets see you do anything similar to this while calling out locations.
// nostromov shut the fuck up
Nascar? What are you smoking?? All she did was tailgate like mentioned before. That civic cleared her path, if anything he’s the better driver, idiot.
// nostromov Ik I’m late but shutcho clown ass up
Great PIT, across multiple lanes in heavy traffic and hit no other cars.
Heruhcane Dean absolutely 👌🏽‼️💯
Literally what i was thinking lol
Not to take any credit from the officer, but that was pure luck, the cars on the street kept their distance, it’s not like she calculated that to avoid other cars, she just went for it and it worked out perfectly
It makes no sense, she could have tried that earlier, she did that at the right time because she saw an opportunity. The actual driver has a much better view and sense o space than we can judge by a dash camera video. That was some nice driving, don't take away credit when credit is due.
That's luck, not a great PIT
That was EPIC driving on her part. She said she was going to pit him and yet managed to hold out until the absolute perfect situation and perfect spot. This officer needs to train other officers on driving prowess - because she sure has it. Damn my stomach even gripped up when she hit that tire strip and got squirrely in that tight situation but she punched her way out of it and was right back on his ass. I'm saving this one to watch occasionally. Thank you for your service officer Vanessa, you rock.
Agree completely! she's some talented girl!
Dude, they need to clean up these highways. They were driving over tons of pieces of blown out tires. lol
Not "anyone's jurisdiction". It'll get cleaned up after a 20 car pileup.
Come clean if up yourself if you have a problem..
Welcome to the big city, son. You wouldn't believe that they have cleanup crews in L.A. with the amount of garbage there is on the shoulders of the freeways. And lots of stuff actually worth money too, like tons of tools, working phones, jewelry, cash, etc.
// nostromov sad but true my friend

Holy Crap! She chased him down like a heat seeking missile...
I think the chase never got over about 40mph, most of the time they were going less, there was too much traffic lol but sure
Seriously!! She was on him like white on rice and that pit at the end was amazing.
Black on rice
they definetly got over 40
Heat seeking missle........and she is a master !!!!!
The pit maneuver was exquisite.
That wasn't a pit. That was a PIN. Something any moron could've pulled off. Any officer that would fail that PIN should be removed from service. Nothing spectacular there. Notice she didn't have her siren on for a very long time which caused a HUGE danger for everyone? She should be reprimanded for that seriously dangerous screw up.

She's a badass! Beautiful driving and that pit maneuver at the end? 👌
Everyone talking about the great driving, the cool attitude, the phenomenal pit. Ain't one of y'all talking about how that guy probably got out of a ticket at the beginning! What a lucky break.
I guess it came to him in his mail.. Coz d officer might have got his plate # prior to the chase
She drove off with his license. I bet he was like welp... huh??? Hahahah
From above534 lol did she? I figured the stop was wrapped up
That what I was fucking thinking
He could have had large amounts of drugs in the car, and the guy who did the hit and run could have been affiliated with him in drug trafficking. If they're moving a lot of product, having cars ahead of the load car trying to bait cops, and a last ditch tail car that can do crazy enough shit to pull the officer off the load car if it is pulled over. Normally, he'd probably just fly by at 120 or some shit, but that's not guaranteed to work, and definitely not easy in those traffic conditions.
Did he really think he would get away. It’s a god damn Honda Civic lmao
Kenny Chhoeun it has vtec
Frying Pan Sure...
It’s not really about the car. It’s the fact that they can’t drive well enough.
ikr, it sounded like it was *really* trying and the troopers car was more or less "ugh the PEDAL ON THE RIGHT JESUS"

That was THE BEST PIT maneuver I have ever seen. In bumper to bumper traffic she puts him into the wall AND blocks his door at the same time and didn’t touch another vehicle. Just beautiful.

Honestly.... she did great and didn’t lose that vehicle for a split second. Great primary unit.
She stepped on the gas pedal and stepped on the brake pedal. I don’t understand the “skills” here.
It was a good pit but that’s about it, she almost lost it with the road debris and in the dirt. She was also in a high-speed chase in dense traffic without her lights / sirens on for QUITE a ways initially. Radio calls also didn’t make much sense and weren’t SOP - she was completely amped up and high on adrenaline. I get it, you just got hit and you’re fired up, but you’ve gotta control it.

This is by far the best pit maneuver I've witnessed. In a highway full of traffic she managed to pin him across all four lanes into the median. She's one badass cop.
I mean it was a great pit. Low speed good timing. Not hard to push a 1.8L fwd Civic around though lol
Good job on driving, bad idea for her to put her pistol in the opened door of the car.
i dont think she noticed how close her car was to the door until she tried to open it due to all the adrenaline.
I was thinking the same thing. That driver could have redirected and gotten control of it way too easily
It pisses me off when I see the good guys get too close to any suspect with their weapon. You don't know what kind of training a person has. There is people out there with muscle memory in apprehending weapons in a blink of an eye. In this situation, the perp could have pulled on the door, wedging the gun in the frame and driving off, or pulling his own gun and blasting the cop through the glass. At least she had backup with a second weapon trained on the perp. The gun in the door frame was still a risky move though
If your going to put your pistol too close to the suspect, at least use it as an impact weapon on his head
Chris. Dude was definitely driving dangerously enough that I would have had my firearm constantly trained on him and immediately broken the glass with my baton. 1 so I could see him better, 2 to keep him occupied while backup was accessing him through the passenger side
Great job. Calling out her location all while driving in bumper to bumper traffic.
She handled herself like an absolute pro from start to finish. So well done.
Good tunes on her radio!
I mean coincidentally that is exactly what they’re trained and expected to do?
I dont what I'm more impressed by.... the female troopers driving skills or the performance of the Honda civic

This chick can drive and pin vehicles!! I'm impressed! And unless you've been in a chase at those speeds sometimes you forget to turn on your siren. The adrenaline is real!
Sheep Dog Well, she did go to the police academy to learn it. Not that impressive.
Hoping For The Day, well it's an opinion. What could've made it better for You?
Sheep Dog I'm just saying she's good because she went to the academy, like all officers do.
Hoping For The Day Going to the police academy to learn driving skills, and pit maneuvers doesn't make it any less difficult. I am sure you would find it difficult to do what she did.
Violent Decay, I'm a cop in Tx, border town. You are correct about learning in the academy. They can teach you a lot, but actually doing it in a real situation is difficult and some officers can't handle that.
she drove away with the other guy's driver licence and insurence card lol

Absolutely, when she hit the tire and lost traction for a moment she kept cool and didn't oversteer. Pretty incredible at those speeds.
I mean if you judge driving by how precise and movie like/epic it is then yeah.
If you know anything about law enforcement this would seem pretty erratic and dangerous driving that's not necessarily proportional to the danger the fleeing car poses, especially considering the place she decided to pit him. She was clearly incredibly angry and got a personal heat for the guy because he hit her, made even more obvious by forgetting about lights and sirens for such a long period.

Clean pin at the end, blocked all 4 doors from being able to open lol
The way she hung on to the chase and ended it, wow.
My guess is that the car she had pulled over was trafficking a lot of drugs (or something very valuable and illegal). The car that hit her was a follow car meant to cause a distraction. No sane person rear ends a cop just to go on a chase for fun. Hopefully that other car was not able to drive off and dump their contraband.

Some suggesting the white car is a deliberate distraction from the original stop ( w/ drugs or whatever). Doesn't matter. You've got 1 car/driver who so far, committed a traffic violation. And you've got one car/driver who has committed felony battery. Logic, policy, common practice, cop school curriculum dictates you go after the bigger threat to the public. That's the guy in he white car.
And I'll just add, as others have, nice driving trooper. Got a little unsafe now and then, shit happens.
Turn that damn siren off when you land.
Thanks - Lumpy
Craig Lumpy Lemke the first car is probably on lookout also because they violated the law.
Well the initial car "COULD" contain Osama Bin Laden or a ton of active plutonium. But what we can logically assume is that the initial car driver committed a traffic offense. The driver of the 2nd car committed a felony. Which would YOU consider more worthy of stopping? Thanks - Lumpy
Turn the damn stereo in the white car off.

Excellent driving from the cop, but I hate how she opened the door of the car and stuck her weapon in there.
If the driver would've slammed the door shut she would've lost it, and be unarmed.
Yup, I was thinking the same thing. It's just adrenaline rushing that made her do that, but it was extremely unsafe. It's normal for adrenaline to cloud ones judgement, and cops are supposed to learn how to deal with that adequately, but no one is superhuman, she did a fantastic job. I agree with your point though! =)
