The perp ended up being handed over to federal courts, where he got a 220-month sentence in federal prison. With "prison reform," that means he'll possibly move into a "transition program" after about 187 months. In short, he's going in at 24 years-old and will probably get out when he is 40. Obviously, HPD did a great job of building a case the feds would take.

The reaction time and commitment to stay in the fight by the officer who was shot is incredible! Playing it back in .25 speed makes it all the more impressive. And just for all of those that don’t know most law-enforcement officers are trained to draw their weapon from a level three retention holster and get the first shot off and under a second and a half. It’s some thing that you practice over and over again just going through the training academy most officers probably fire 4 to 5000 rounds. It’s some thing that you just have to do repeatedly so it becomes muscle memory you don’t even have to think about it your body just does it. This kind of training is what saves officers lives and their fast reactions is what stopped the threat.
