A shot to the femur is extremely dangerous. That bone is under an immense amount of pressure due to the surrounding muscles. When the bone breaks it tends to slip pulling the leg up. Poor Officer safety, passenger Officer that got shot lost sight of the suspect because he gave up his position on the passenger side of the vehicle and walked into the perfect firing position for the suspect. While the contacting officer just backed up and was able to return fire. Probably a good teaching moment at he academy.
And just for all of those that don’t know most law-enforcement officers are trained to draw their weapon from a level three retention holster and get the first shot off and under a second and a half. It’s some thing that you practice over and over again just going through the training academy most officers probably fire 4 to 5000 rounds. It’s some thing that you just have to do repeatedly so it becomes muscle memory you don’t even have to think about it your body just does it. This kind of training is what saves officers lives and their fast reactions is what stopped the threat.
As a cop, I carried a Glock 21 .45 cal. It doesn’t always stop or kill a person right away. There was a cop who shot a guy multiple times with a .45 and the guy still fought the officer. I can link story/video if you like?
I’m a police officer from Ohio. Everything morning before work I have a routine to drawl my gun 10 times out of my gun holster as fast as I can within the 1.5 seconds. If I fumble my gun or drop it I start over till I can do it 10 times perfectly! One day practicing this every morning it could save my life.
This is why it’s a great thing to always have a partner!! Two is always better than one. Great job officers!! I pray and hope other officer that got shot has a speedy recovery!! Great tactics and very fast draw!! Especially the officer that got it! Fast af draw! I’m glad it was.
Follow up to this video: Today, Chief U.S. District Judge Lee H. Rosenthal handed Bryan a 100-month term of imprisonment for drug trafficking meth. He also received 120 months for the firearms charge which must be served consecutively to the other sentence imposed. The total 220-month prison term will be immediately followed by five years of supervised release. In handing down the sentence, the court noted Bryan’s lengthy criminal history and the violent nature of the offense.
This channel really shows how for every 1 fuckup, cops actually do the right things a thousand times, and save lives (including their own) against these violent criminals. Sadly, the people who'd really need to see this, will never watch it, because it shows that criminals are like that and not the peaceful-but-misguided little angels they believe they are.
I watch this channel regularly, and they do an incredible job of honesty showing how good and bad cops can be. I’m very critical of LEOs when they make a mistake, but these guys should be on an honour roll.

People try and say cops are the bad guys. Here's a real quick lesson on why they are the good guys: if a cop has to shoot you they will render medical aid even if you shot at them first. Guess what the bad guy will not do: render aid after they shoot you.
The reaction time and commitment to stay in the fight by the officer who was shot is incredible! Playing it back in .25 speed makes it all the more impressive.
