This isn’t “wrong” it’s just different. Some people don’t have the time, skill or patience to build something like that so they just make do with the barriers and design the habitat instead
yeah i am trying to make a good looking zoo but i dont have the patience for anything
Yeah I try null as much as possible but it takes so much time and the log barrier looks good.
@@sietzeveenstra9172 I did a southern cassowary habitat and used null. I thought it was high, but it kept jumping on the rocks and getting out. I fixed it but they still got out!
And from guest view it looks like a real zoo.@@sietzeveenstra9172
@@Dude_mec This game is a good way to train your patience! If you practice, it will get better. I also struggle with this, many people do today (most because of the internet), but only if you find a way to train yourself it will get better.
I like the barriers in the game, and use them in creative ways. they don't look disgusting.
Im personally a fan of the wood and glass barriers. And sometimes the chainlink. I visited a rehab zoo and they used chainlink so using it in game feels more authentic idk
@@reapsow3003 but you can make a better wood and chain fence with custom fence
Ding dong your opinion is WRONG.
@adamjones6308 No one's opinion is wrong, just different
@@TheDianMan this is satire
Problem with custom making all your barriers is that at a point, even my high-end computer rage quits having so many assests to load in. If I'm building a huge zoo, it's far less time intensive and demanding on my comuter if I use a barrier with some decor to blend it in.
Most of them aren't that bad if you find a propper way to use them. Chain barriers, log barriers, hedges, and the plastic one (forgot the name, haven't played in a while) can all be used if you use them right. It just takes some blending in, plus it helps prevent lag from piece count.
theres no wrong way to play a sandbox game...
Except you turned every sandbox setting on
@@marionuggets7743 huh?
I honestly just can’t be bothered, I’d rather spend my time on the inside of the habitat than hours on the barrier
I've noticed that I can also get away with having lower fencing for some animals, not all, but a good handful. To top this off, You can make way cheaper fencing that doesn't get demolished in 3 seconds from either weathering or the animals themselves.
You can see the minimum fence height in the zoopedia
@misticks11 Yeah, I know. But some animals, like the reindeer for example, I accidentally made a fence that didn't meet that requirement, and they still didn't have any excape points.
@@mochimacaroon400Maybe because that point of the fence was inaccessible.
@fransthefox9682 Nope, I assume it may have to do with some type of collision, or they may just have a grace point.
I like the barriers tbh, it’s more realistic imo. It’s quite natural for a zoo to barricade their animals🤣
One barrier that can be kinda useful is the glass barrier as they are the best way to make a viewing window underwater. But yes, the other barriers look bad
I like the in game Barriers there simpler faster and easier and I find them quite nice
Using in game barriers is not a mistake, it’s a choice
If you want it to be pretty, yeah, use custom barriers, but i just want CHAOS
The only barriers I use that are I guess pre made with the game, not custom, is the glass walls. It saves so much time to use them and you can spice them up really easily
It’s NOT WRONG to use any in game barriers lol, those are definitely made to keep animals inside habitat areas. Calling them “wrong” is the only mistake here cause it’s their choices to use whatever goddamn barriers they like.
Thanks for the comment 😀
Wow... Really changed my though process on building a habitat.
It’s more of a stylistic/time choice. Honestly the wood barrier looks the best, especially when it’s a wood guest gate habitat. I should probably replace some of the other barriers I have in my current, Oceania animals zoo.
(I just got done with a massive building to hold my King Penguins, but I need to do the rock work now.)
Nothing is "wrong." People can play the way they want
The way to do it is to sink the ground then put rocks around the keeper gate, you gotta make a path to the lower part but if you put rocks around the keeper gate then they
can't get out, you gotta put the rocks high enough though the animals will climb the rocks.
nobody ever mentioned this, but many times animals just really do not want to be seen and it can make having custom barriers a painnn.
I wish planet zoo would create some more interesting barriers (I understand it's hard) but they really are so much easier to work with than copying and pasting a blueprint.
It takes so much patience and precision, both of which I don’t have 😂 I wish some of the construction “habitat fences” were already a barrier option
There's nothing wrong with using in-game barriers. New players should absolutely experiment with null barriers, but the normal barriers are there for a reason. Sometimes I mix null barriers with normal barriers, or sometimes I just don't have a good enough idea for a null barrier habitat
Nr 1 mistake is making the habitats too big
If theyre too big you will have a very hard time if you want them to look good
The best you can do is for group animals to plan a 6 animal minimum space and for loners a 2-3 (if your 2 have kids) animal minimum
well barriers are helpful for beginners. I learned from using barrier to no barriers the longer you play the better you make a nice naturalized habitat
i have noticed on occasions that using the glass panels in construction mode causes the guests to think they cant look through it, so they just walk past it. even with education boards etc.
Thank you so much, I just started today and I wondered why everyone else’s gates looked so good
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS!!!
You're welcome 😊
go to any irl zoo and tell me which ones don’t have these
These selfmade walls are a pain. Sometimes my animals will just escape even if the game says they can't. This is annoying.
Hmm I've never had an animal escape from them
I don't know, i tried it a few times now. Even started a new zoo. Some glitched through my glass wall. I kind of fixed it as i placed a small glass half wall in front of the original glass wall. Doesn't look pretty but it works 😂
My animals always escape, when i use workshop enclosures like this 😅😢
maybe you just got a rock or something in the wrong place
Most of the workshop enclosures are made to look good, not to be functional.
Bavrias definitely british!!
The glass barrier is the only good barrier.
Agree 💯
even that can be partially covered to give some really nice curved glass viewing areas
Wood barrier too. It look so ugly that it truly look like IRL zoo. Some zoo just like.. dont care that much about their property. Soo the once shiny wooden fence, now it's ugly wood fence.
Planet zoo's wood fence also looking good.
@@DBT1007 Yes the wood one is also so cute.
@DBT1007 yeah it looks similar to wooden barriers I've seen in irl zoos I've been to (sometimes they are slightly cleaner though haha)
Guys WE need african or Indiana leopard into the game or both
We have Amur leopards already ❤❤❤
damn, paddy pimblett is great at planet zoo building!!
Eh ?
@@adamuplook up paddy pimblett
@adriantomo5688 I know who hr is, an MMA fighter from Liverpool but still don't understand the references
Who needs barriers my jaguar don’t bite
They don’t let you place animals if the barrier is not closed. I tried that in a cave and I had to close the cave even from the inside
Not sure what you mean ?
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but my animals don't respect null barriers. They just walk through
Check your travarsable area map. Take a look at this more in depth video: ruclips.net/video/rd2y799p4eg/видео.htmlsi=JgI2wGNM50mpTjwF
If it were an animal that wasn't stressed, it would have done something like the video. Unfortunately, one-way glass objects do not act as a barrier.
For me, the one-way glass walls (even the ones that are not restricted to the grid) do act as barriers
Planet zoo what people do different is the correct term
Its not pointless they can be great, it depends on what you wanna use ans whether you wanna have a pc take off when you are trying to load in all the assets
I finally now how to use fucking null barriers I thought they were like a useless item
i’m a beginner, so don’t judge me and others based off of silly things such as barriers
I just realized I should probably do the null barrier last not first :,3
Oh i assumed it had tobe fully enclosed with a habitat wall
But I like being able to click the wall and see the animals/habitat control, when I do this I cannot. I have to go into the zoo menu/sales menu to control food quality and stuff.
You can click the habitat gate instead 😏 😉
“And your animals stay in.”
Me, who had to change to the in-game barriers as my zebras kept escaping: Am I a joke to you?
Csnt use natural barriers cus i cant deliver the animal into a habitat if i cant click on it
Why can't you click on it ?
@@adamup Cause when you deliver an animal, it shows like a house icon that you must take it to
My pc just can't handle if I did that too
Where's the no barrier option? So just put rocks around like a wall basically or w e n then that's it
It's called null barrier and here is how to use them: ruclips.net/video/rd2y799p4eg/видео.htmlsi=hDNwYKXblxTcSEuu
............... I DIDNT know this was a thing :o i thought the "null barrier" needed to be inside a wall or something, i didnt know you could use rocks and shit to keep them in
I already know 1 They don’t add goggly eyes and winding walkways
People in the comments are so pressed lmfao… planet zoo, after the basics, is a game about design. Of course relying on the basic barriers is a mistake!
But how does that function for the animals? Not in terms of walking out but in terms of 1. Barrier grade and climbing animals and 2. Being visible and animal stress levels?
There is no barrier degrade when doing this. Climbing can be turned of building pieces so they can't climb over. Visibility and stress is down to hard shelter availability
@@adamup thanks mate, so if I have enough hard shelter it doesn't matter if they're completely visible? I didn't know that. Do I still need to build to a certain height with barriers so animals can't jump over them?
I dont fully understand how the Null barrier works.. or atleast how you have used them. Most these Null barrier videos i see arent actually overlaying of your custom barriers. Why is this? Wouldnt animals clip through your custom ones?
this video of mine may help you more understand : ruclips.net/video/rd2y799p4eg/видео.htmlsi=q9U_ITaLXkZQoBWe
I make fancy walls on my franchise zoos uless it’s a breeding zoo then I just use the normal walls
I disagree. I seen so many people build incredibly detailed fences and glass walls, that are barely different from base game walls. Like this glass wall here in the example. Like come on.
Thanks for your opinion 👍
So you're saying that, if we are not skilled or creative enough to make something like this, we shouldn't make anything at all...
Ok.
Not at all, I'm saying that to get creative and build better habitats, then the way forward Is to use null barriers. My whole channel content is to teach and inspire people
But what about the gates? Can the keeper get to the animals without the barers?
Ofcourse they can
How do you put gates into the null barrier? I always struggle with this part. 😢
Put the gate first then add the null barriers
@@adamupohhh I didn't know that works, awesome, thanks!
Is not a wrong thing use the game walls is fine and making unique walls are difficult but it looks good but using normal walls or your own doesnt affect the game
nah ill keep using barriers bruh
OK bruh
I have a full time job lol
Animals should be free! Even the digital ones.
Nah, good shout mate. Nice work
when i put the gate inside the building it and when i want to put an animal in it says "invalid destination" what do i do?
Future me: nvm i fixed it
I'm so dumb because I never check that gate because I thought ew is this a white gate? Not gonna use it now I watch other content creators and I was like ooooohhhh so that was the purpose of he invisible gate
There is no “wrong” way to do it. It’s a game. Let people have fun and don’t suggest what they’re doing is wrong because it’s something you don’t do.
EMUUUUUUUU
A wrong way to be creative you say? 🤔 I’m guessing you did that to get views and comments…. Wait! 🤔 Is doing that for views wrong or, …or creative?!
As a creator, it's creative
thats not wrong bruh... how about you give actual tips instead of just telling people to waste time they could be spending playing the actual game on making a custom barrier for an hour

Everyone has their own opinions, and maybe just don’t have the patience or experience to actually make them. Sometimes people just want to make the barriers, so they can move onto something else in the zoo and also don’t want to spend the money (if in franchise), to make something that looks better then something that’s convenient and easy.
I mean he isn’t that wrong. This is still a creative sandbox game with a ton of construction pieces that gives you way more freedom. Hate me or not but using BPs and already done stuff only is of course possible but more a “being lazy” part of the game but not the main part of the game. Which is creating a creative zoo.
