You may have not added the chain 1 after each row! That’s what I was missing then I got it right!

Tip: for making the brim faster and longer, do double crochet instead of Hdc. I’m a crochet starter and i found it faster
When you do the brim do you stitch in the front loop only. Does someone know?

So if I am to make a bigger hat after I done the ncrease on the fourth stitch do I do the next row increasing on the fifth sixth seventh stitch or do I just continue increasing with just the increase on the fourth stitch
you'd continue the pattern, so after increasing the fourth stitch, the next round you'd increase the fifth stitch, then sixth, then seventh, and so on and so forth.

Brim:
1st row: inc all around
2nd row: hdc all around
