I’ve made tomato pie for decades but I have never seen this recipe or the recipe you made for Tomato Pie #1. It is lots of fun to see variations of a classic recipe and how others change it up, depending on their location. I’m from Georgia and we make it with the pie crust, tomatoes drained but not roasted, scallions and fresh basil and a topping with cheeses, mayo, etc. Actually, it is kind of a mash up of your two recipes but it is predominantly a vehicle for fresh tomatoes and fresh basil at the peak of the season. Thanks so much for your wonderful videos, you are fun to watch and I ain’t skeered of nuthin’ in the kitchen! 😘
I think tomato pie #2 would be great for breakfast with eggs and bacon. Tomato pie #1 would be awesome for dinner, with beef. I love tomato pie and was surprised when I first did too. I also have a similar vegetable pie recipe that includes yellow squash, zucchini, onions and tomatoes. Any recipe that helps me use plentiful garden crop is appreciated here in Mississippi. Love your videos. Keep ‘em coming😊

I appreciate your interest in teaching the younger women. My Mom didn't ever teach me how to cook......She just did it all by herself. I can't say I taught my daughter cuz my husband enjoyed doing the cooking and my children liked his stuff 'mo-bettah'....hahahahaha. I was trying to introduce them to stuff I never had and they said I was doin' too much. Give us our dad's plain ole lite-red spaghettis and his no-seasoned fried chicken. hahahaahaha Those were the days.

Looks good, but I'm lazy. I'll just slice some tomato onto white bread, sprinkle salt and pepper, add a slice of Colby Jack, and spread some mayo. Still delicious and easier.😊

The ease of this recipe, minimal prep needed, individual portions, different seasoning with the salad supreme makes it a winner and I haven't even tasted it yet ! 😂 The only time I saw biscuits used for a tomato pie they were placed in a pie pan/plate. So not as easy to serve for guests. Gonna make it God willing really soon. Thank you!!

Dearest Friend, this is so unique! Wondering if they are doughy tasting with the tomato on top because they are not baked long. I’ll bet these would be fantastic with some real crispy bacon on top 😊 Have you ever had onion pie? It’s made with a buttery cracker crust, like Ritz crackers, crumbled fine and melted butter all mixed together and pressed in a pie plate. Onion’s sliced fine, not chopped. Season with your choice of seasoning and layered with cheese, of your choice. I use Swiss and sharp cheddar. Beat 2 eggs well with milk or cream, pour over onions and cheese. Bake at 350 till done. WHALLA!! If you like onions, I’m sure you’ll love it You just don’t want a lot of eggs otherwise you’ll have quiche. I add my onions and cheese to 1 betten egg, mix and judge if it’s enough to bind it all together. Your KeyLime friend 💕🙏🙏
I made your Tomato Pie #2 recipe for breakfast this morning and it was delicious! I cut leftover homemade biscuits in half from the day before. I generously buttered them, and mostly followed the rest of your recipe. One exception was to use on hand seasoning in place of the Salad Supreme. I baked the pie until the cheese melted. This is a keeper! Thanks for the recipe!
Hi Miss Talli Faye! This is a good recipe too. I'm wondering if you have ever had a broiled tomato? I remember them from the '60 steak houses. Usually middle is scooped out and mixed with bread crumbs and cheese and seasonings and put back in the tomato and then broiled til brown and bubbly. Really delish. Also fun to make. Looks good, but I will use homemade biscuits, freshly grated cheese, and homemade spices from ground seeds and fresh dried herbs. I tried canned biscuits, croissants, and pizza dough years ago. They all tasted the same and had a weird chemical aftertaste. I'm just used to making everything homemade that when I buy store bought and quick foods, I can't get past the difference in taste from chemicals, preservatives, and fillers. Either way, I love your recipes, and you do make most things natural. I just substitute some of the store bought items that do not fit my pallet. I enjoy your channel and get many ideas on how to make new recipes, and I love that you tell your viewers to make changes and to make it to their taste. Trust me, your content is enjoyable, and I still learn new recipes.
Use a cookie sheet pan place your bread slices on the pan then sprinkle with olive oil then sprinkle with the SALAD SUPREME and bake being careful not to burn, 350 degrees
