    The wallpaper in the sink area made a BIG difference. I agree with you about removing the towel rack. In it's place, a collection of art would probably be easier to find...and afford...that a large print to cover the holes. And perhaps a shower curtain that coordinates with the wallpaper.

      Great idea on the shower curtain and a piece of art.

    • @ActuallyAlli
      @ActuallyAlli  Месяц назад +3

      That's a great idea for the shower curtain and a good compromise since it gets way too steamy in there for the wallpaper to stick!!

    Art over the toilet, but with humidity I'd go with something metal or acrylic. Maybe a pretty mirror? You could get another tension rod & small curtain panel over the shelves, maybe matching whatever shower curtain you go with?

    You should cover the wire shelving with a diy faux wood cover.

    Artwork over the toilet and decorative hooks near shower for towels. I’d put pretty baskets to hide your towels ventilated shelves. Or cover the ventilated shelves with wood. Shower curtain to match the wallpaper. The wallpaper made such a huge difference as well as the light bulbs. I’m renting and have the same light fixtures. I’m going to swap my bulbs out. Thanks for sharing!

    I really like the start to your bathroom makeover. I really have wanted to makeover my bathroom also! I agree on using artwork instead of the towel bar in matching colors to the vanity area. You could do one of your artwork projects to create something for the area.

    Hello from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦. What an amazing transformation. Regarding 'Renter' light fixtures. I have swapped out several fixtures in my apartment, including installing an 'Enclosed Ceiling Fan'. I have kept safe everything I removed and can easily put them back to their original places if & when I leave. In the Toilet/Shower room YES, remove the towel bar!!. Your idea for hooks is a great idea and you could add an over the door bar/hook system (Wish I could add pics lol). For behind the toilet I would find a large 'Whimsical' Bathroom related image or print (Just for a giggle) and add that to the wall. Adding black, adds a level of class & sophistication. Buy a second expandable shower curtain rod to put in behind for the liner and on the outer rod add your 'Custom' curtain for a great finish!! Keep going!!!!

    Take some of the wallpaper and put it in a frame and hang above the decorative towels. Maybe you can take some green leaves dry them in a book and place the on the wallpaper in tbe frame to tie the green to your bedroom

    We have a separated, toilet shower area as well. Towel hooks don’t always let the towels get very dry, so we ended up leaving the towel bar over the toilet because like you, because there are two people using the bathroom and we need the hanging space. Add art above the toilet towel bar and then add another towel bar (if you make it match, the landlord just might ask you to leave it) or hooks for easy towel access on the other side.

    I would put a custom sized fabric wall pocket (multiple pockets) for small item storage (femine hygiene products etc) used in that room. Could be made from colorful print fabric to provide "art" you are thinking the room needs. Suspend it on the towel rod like a curtain but it would hang flat (hoping that makes sense). Then you can put towel hooks on the opposite wall where towel storage makes more logistical sense to me. Can't wait to see what you decide to do.

    If you have any wallpaper left, you could cut a big piece and frame it and put that over the toilet to tie the both rooms together. Or a triptych of three narrow panels of that wallpaper I’m 65 I’ve been renting now for the past eight years. In fact, I’m just moving to a new rental which I think we’re gonna stay a while finally lol and I’ve really been enjoying watching you. Hi Ally, I absolutely love your wall paper choice. It did make a big difference for sure. So did the lights. I think you could put a couple of shelves where you were thinking. I think it will look better. Who on their right mind would put a towel hanger above the toilet.? Putting shelves On it would be great. You know the ones that slide over or on that towel rack, it would completely hide the towel rack. Maybe a couple of them, then you could use them for small pictures or plants hanging down. I think it would look really good. Whatever you decide, will look great. Good luck.❤️

    Love your wallpaper choice and upgrade. The wall with the toilet seems to be the focal point and draws your first impression. I agree the towel bar needs to be removed and something beautiful will change the mood of the bathroom. I’m excited to see the outcome since I am dealing with the same issues. I ended up mounting a small cabinet near the shower with rolled up bath towels since It felt damp when it was exposed. I do have a floating shelf with a motion sensor light diffuser that creates enough light in the middle of the night. I’m so excited to see your ideas as I need some inspiration. Thank you for sharing and can’t wait to see what you do.

    Ok, I just started watching and had to pause the vid to let you know timing couldn't be better. I'm in the process of doing my bathroom, (in fact I just ordered a few items last night), and we have some similarities. I have no doubt I'll pick up a few things here that I can use.
    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Edit: We have the same lights, I changed out clear bulbs for white as well. It made it better but I still despise the fixture lol. If I may suggest, remove the towel bar and replace it with a framed picture. Hang either a matching shower curtain or a fabric curtain that has some of the colors from the picture on a tension rod to cover the wire shelves.
    Oh, and I agree with you about the cabinet doors. It would be great if you could maybe stain them dark but because they have so many wedges and uneven surfaces covering them with contact or peel and stick would only be a beast.

    The vanity area looks much better. Really like the curtain and I am curious as to why not do the same in the bathroom for the shelf storage area? Then move the towel bar & put up a shelf. You like to decorate & are good at it. So, decorate a shelf above the stool.
    I also like to keep as much stuff as far away from the stool as possible. You never know what's floating in the air. Ewww! One thing I like to do in a new rental is get a soft close toilet seat. Love them!
    One final thing. No rug in front of the vanity? Cover that dark floor & give your tootsies something warm to stand on. Just some thoughts. Great job on the whole apartment.

    I use the towel bar above the toilet Nd use that for decorate towels. The bad thing about hooks for towels is that they dont really get dry st the bottom of the hanging towel. Get a towel bar and install across from the toilet. If you fold in half and hang the towels to dry. I have towels i use and towels that are decorative. It takes up some wall space.

    Great job! I would go for an over-the-toilet cabinet myself. If storage isn't needed, opt for one with glass doors and use it as a medicine/decor cabinet. Kind of like how you stage the shelves of your craft room. You can use it to store toilet paper and keep items like wipes, towels, books, candles, potpourri, etc... all within reach (then use the storage area for backup/other toiletries). I would also find a way to hide the built in shelving- I love storage but hate those wire racks being visible (same in my apt.). Maybe use a small pull curtain (where its rolled at the top and you can pull it up and down) or something you can drape and tuck to the side. I agree with moving the towel hooks. I think a large piece of art above the toilet looks odd when the room is so bare- adding in more furniture would make it feel more cozy, especially since its already jolting to have to exit the bathroom to wash your hands. I love the suggestion I saw to frame the wallpaper. Not to make more work, but I also agree that DIYing a cover/shade for the light fixtures and a frame for the mirror would be awesome. You inspired me to DIY my whole apt. last year, so I agree the work is worth it! Thank you for all your tips girlie. Now I'm off to go do what I just suggested in my own bathroom lol.

    Those light fixtures are super easy to swap out. It'll take you no time at all and what a difference new ones would make. You're right. The towel bar behind the toilet is very awkward and seems out of place. I definitely would move the towels to the opposite wall like you suggested. I would also hide all the wire shelving with a curtain. A shelf or two behind the toilet would look good or perhaps a large piece of art. If you're not going to replace the builder-grade mirror, I can totally see you making a frame for it.

    The wallpaper is very nice! All the changes you made is great. I would also remove the towel rack above the toilet, it is a strange place to put towels for sure. Artwork would be my choice for that wall, something colorful and only one piece that covers the holes. The removable black hooks on the other wall for your towels is a great idea. I would also add a nice shower curtain, something that provides colors and texture. Also, maybe paint the walls to create a connection. 🙂

    OK, this is coming from somewhat a little bit older of a audience member and somebody that’s been a designer and decorator for about 20 years in a large city so for the bathroom I would first of all get a simply small patterned curtain and attention bar and hang it over that shelving area on the other side of the toilet so you can see the shelves. Then I would put a wooden shelf over the toilet that matches the tone of wood of the vanity making it make sense. so therefore, yes, take down the towel bar over the toilet that’s really gross and then just put two small hooks on the wall closer to where you get in and out of the shower and the two rooms together with the color of the shelf and you’ve got another smaller pattern that maybe you wanted with the original wallpaper? My answer to all the dilemmas good luck.

If you already have a lot of storage I wouldn't really go for open shelving in the bathroom above the toilet. • @Kate-oi6yt
    @Kate-oi6yt Месяц назад

    Please do not have fabrics or shelving above toilet (let’s be frank, just gros). Since you do not want a lot of holes in the wall, opt for some inexpensive canvas art light enough to use comnand strips to hang. You always run the risk of shower water hitting art work so don’t invest too much in this. If nailing is not a problem , opt for something in glass or laminated in matte finish that can tolerate moisture. You could also hang a lightweight lattice and suspend air plants or ferns in lightweight pots. I suppose you could add a free standing archway over toilet and hang plants that thrive in low light but high humidity.
