Thank you so much for sharing this crafting hack with us. This will come in very handy for those of us that don't have a cricut or silhouet (yet)! The timing couldn't be better for me either. I have a couple of projects that need to be finished and this is exactly what I needed to do that! Thank you again....genious!
@@ChristinaElizabeth15 I've already created my first image...how exciting! Quick question though, when printing onto the wax paper, do you print the image on the shiney/glossy side or the matte side? Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Kendra Garvais I always print on the glossy side. The Reynolds wax paper almost feels the same on both sides. If your using that brand then it should work fine on either side.
@@ChristinaElizabeth15 thank you so much for all the help. I'm super excited to try this technique. I can tell that this is going to be a huge game changer for me!

I am really excited to try to do a project using this method! Thank you! Take care and stay safe! All the best!
Is there such a thing as white ink? If transferring to black ebony wood using black mink won't work well especially when desiring to do intricate routing work. Any reply appreciated. Your very pleasant to watch and listen to. You also got to the point without wasting viewers time which is much appreciated.

Christina. GREAT project...I didn’t know you can transfer images like that...thanks for the tip.. Quick question. Do you print on the shiny Side of the wax paper?
Thank you for this tutorial! Since I don’t have a cricut, I can use this method for now. I suppose this works with color images & lettering too, right?
Hi, This is a great idea. I have an Epson Workforce printer that uses pigment ink cartridges. Will this type of printer and cartridge work with the process in your video?
This is awesome. Especially for those of us that don't have cricket. Just a f/u for when you load the wax paper into printer. My paper sits at the bottom of printer. Any tips suggestions how I can get it under the rollers? I know that is a super specific question and not all printers are the same. ☺️
Not really sure. I know that when I load the paper in to mine I press the rollers up so the paper slides in better. Are you able to press up on the rollers at all?
I have a couple of questions. I read all the comments but I didn't see my 2 questions. I hope anyway.🤔 I know you use the inkjet printer but can you use a laser printer? The wax paper won't ruin the printer by leaving a residue? Thank you so much for sharing this trick/hack. Happy Sunday~
I’ve never tried this method with a laser printer but I don’t think it works the same. Also, I’ve been printing on wax paper for a long time and have not had any issues with my printer. 🙂
Christina Elizabeth thank you for getting back to so quickly. I subscribed to your latest video. I'm binge watching all your videos. 🙂 You've given me some ideas that I want to do for my home. Thank you for sharing your talent with me (us). 🐣
You can also use double-sided tape at the top of a piece of printer paper to attach your wax paper. Then trim your waxed paper to fit printer paper. Print with the appropriate side up or down according to which side your printer prints on. My inkjet printer prints on the side facing UP. Carefully remove the printed wax paper from the printer paper without smudging it. Now you are ready to transfer the print to your wood piece. Smooth wood works best.
What does pic monkey charge now? Is there still a free version? When you need two things the same, like the line, can you duplicate and paste? Lastly, if I use white ink will it be pretty muted with this technique?
I'm interested in trying something like this to make Christmas tree ornaments on wood slices with Vacation Bible School kids. So we would need a lot of these, printed in advance. I'm not sure the logistics will work. Does the transfer have to be used immediately, while it's wet? Does it ever dry if printed on waxed paper? If it has to be wet, I'm not sure we could print it on the spot; if it never dries, I'm not sure we could print it in advance and not have it ruined before we use it. Any thoughts?
Polycrylic is a good sealer. It comes in a bunch of different finishes as well. I would not recommend using it as a cutting board after though. This piece is just to be as decor.
I painted the wood first then did the transfer. It’s been years since I’ve done this projects and the ink is still going strong. Obviously this is a decor piece and not for actual use.
@@ChristinaElizabeth15 awesome . . . thank you for such a quick response. I thought it looked like chalk paint but thought it best to ask . . . . . thanks again.
The ink will smudge while it’s still wet. Once the ink has dried it should not smudge. The cutting board is meant to be displayed as a decor piece only, not for actual use.
I am not 100% sure if PicMonkey has any other languages. I’ll try and do some more research and let you know. From what I can tell I think it’s just in English.
Does it have to be transferred right away or can you let the ink dry? I'm looking for a way to transfer like this but it's several smaller pictures and I'd like to not waste too much wax paper. Thanks!

Inkjet for this project.

Do you seal it with anything? Something to make it food safe? How does washing up go? Does it wash it off?
This piece is just a decoe piece to be displayed. It is not to be used with food.
how did this work hun my printer ate the wax paper any tips would be appreciated :) you're video is awesome thanks again
Thanks! Make sure your wax paper doesn’t have any crinkling and feed the paper in under the rollers before printing. I hope that helps.

Hi there. This looks amazing. Does the ink come off the board if used with water or does it stay on?
The cutting board is just for decoration. I would not use water on it.
Great idea
This method has been around for a while. Definitely one of my favorites!!
Amazing! Do you have to transfer the image right away or would this still work a few hours or a few days after I print it?
You still want the ink to be wet or it will not transfer after it’s dried.
Nice! Thanks for the video. Did you find the paint to be fading away from the wood after sometime because you are only using printer ink?
No, this piece is just as a display piece in my kitchen.

Perfect, thank you so much. Making my daughter a door sign 😍❤️

How long does the ink last on the wood? And if you’re staining the wood is this done before or after.
I painted the wood first then did the transfer. It’s been years since I’ve done this projects and the ink is still going strong. Obviously this is a decor piece and not for actual use.
Christina, do you need to transfer immediately? Is there a 'drying time' for the ink?
I do transfer it fairly quick but it doesn’t have to be immediate. You just still want your ink to be wet.
Sweet
Do you need to do this immediately after you print? Or will it work if you wait a few days. Thank you!
I’ve never waited a long time after printing, but I would think the ink would dry and wouldn’t transfer very well if at all. I’m not 100% on that.
Thanks so much!!!
can you tell me what kind of paint you used - wondering if there's anything specific that will or will not allow the ink to transfer. Thanks
I used chalk paint.
@@ChristinaElizabeth15 awesome . . . thank you for such a quick response. I thought it looked like chalk paint but thought it best to ask . . . . . thanks again.
Does it matter which side of wax paper you print on?
That’s great! Could you use a iron to transfer you think?
Thanks! I’m not exactly sure if that would work since I’ve never tried it.
Wouldn’t that melt the wax onto your iron?
Nichole Seal I would think so.
Should it be printed on the shiny side of the paper or the mat side
Shiny. The Reynolds brand wax paper feels just about the same on both sides.
Brilliant! Subscribing!
Thank you! So happy you subscribed Regina!
Is this ink safe from smudging due to washing? Just asking for the the application of wood. I plan on using this method to stencil onto cardstock.
The ink will smudge while it’s still wet. Once the ink has dried it should not smudge. The cutting board is meant to be displayed as a decor piece only, not for actual use.

You want to do it soon after printing. As long as the ink is still wet it should transfer.
@@ChristinaElizabeth15 Thank you!
would this have a chance of fading or smearing when done? or are there things to seal it with
I would wait a while to make sure the ink is totally dry. It would use a clear spray sealer.
Do you need to seal the project after you've done the transfer?
It is a good idea to seal it. This is just a decor piece, not for actual use.
nice trick! is that inkjet printer?
Yes, it is an inkjet printer.
Can you use either an Ink jet printer or laser printer?
No just ink jet.
Is it safe to serve food on it after the transfer? And is it permanent or does it wear over time?
It is just a decor piece. I would not serve food on it.
Hi, can I use painted wood for this project?
Yes, I painted my cutting board before applying the transfer.
Thank you! Love your videos!
Hi, I have another question.
What’s the best method to transfer white image on black wood?
Can a laser jet be used instead of the inkjet?
Just an inkjet printer will work for this project.
Hi. You print it out reverse ,but when you put it on the wood in the video it seems normal.🤔 I Hope it Works on my HP instant ink. (HP Envy photo 6234)
Love the idea.👍
Are you serious about the reverse transfer?
Surely not?

I’m not sure about the post cards. I’ve never tried it, but if you do try it I’d love to know if it worked. You do not need to use Picmonkey to reverse your image. If you have the paint program on a computer just flip image horizontally.
Does the ink have to be wet or freah out of the printer
I wouldn’t let the ink dry down to much or it won’t transfer.
Genius

Yes
Will this work with laser printer?
No, the ink is what transfers the image.
Really awesome! Did you use a ink jet printer? And do you know if Canva would work? And how would I rotate the image I don't have paint in my Mac
Yes, I used an inkjet printer. I think Canva should work. There should be a tab somewhere that says flip. You want to flip the image horizontal. I hope that made sense and helps!
