We found hundreds and hundreds of hedgehogs Tuesday here in Croatia. We had to ignore them after filling our basket...so many! Chanterelles were on their last legs. We lived most of our lives in Saskatchewan so foraging here is a special treat. I am grateful for your amazing content!
@pamelajefferies3197 Believe me, I was ecstatic! We could have easily picked triple that but pick for our own consumption only. We regularly find so many black trumpets we don't even look around us for more. We live in a forager's paradise!
Wow. That's really cool finding all of those chanterelles. Fall of 2023 has been one of the most incredible years for mushrooms in nw Oregon. I love this channel. Thanks Aaron
Bro, I love your show and look forward to it . I have learned quite a bit from you . I learned not to eat a chicken of the woods growing on pines 😂 No but really, it's a great show ! Informative and entertaining . Thank you and wow, I'm thrilled to see you picking like that in January. It's insane, I tell ya 😂
Great haul man. Don't worry, no sack or pick shaming here lol. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I've used my hat, shirt, jacket, backpack and probably a few things I'm forgetting. I have a nice net bag that I'm usually good about keeping with me but stuff happens sometimes. Whatever gets the job done. Same for picking method. I don't judge. I'm kind of a clean freak so I lean toward cutting stem butts and brushing the stipe and cap before I toss it in my bag but I've also done the opposite a few times. Another great episode of Mushroom Wonderland. I look forward to each one so keepem coming please.
This last Fall was my first time hunting for edible mushrooms. These videos have been immensely helpful and informative. After a few forays into my Sonoma County coastal areas I have seen and foraged lots (for me) edible mushrooms; particularly the Yellowfoot and Hedgehogs but also a few Oyster and Pig’s Ear. 15:46 I have always loved hiking in the woods and now it is even more rewarding. Thank you!!!
Excellent, my daughter and I wait for your podcasts, love to learn about which mushrooms you can find at the given season time of year. Thank you for taking the time to share.
Me too, the repetition has helped us alot. If we don't have constant distinctions of mushroom attributes, they tend to get mixed up on which were which. (What attribute belonged to what mushroom)
Thanks for going out for us to see, and learn, I haven't had a chance to get out much this year so far, but watching your shows helps me with my hunting anxiety 😮lol!.
Wow Aaron, Chanterelles and Winter-chanterelles were growing crazy for you out there I see last week... What a treasure hunt, we were so excited for you as we watched!!😃😃✨💗 I hope we get healthier this year, so that we can go to our own little mushroom hunt adventure later this year! Thanks Aarom again for taking us to you neck of the woods!!😘💞💗✨
Really loved this episode! And thanks for acknowledging that sometime you are repetitive...Good! Repetition is important if you don't have a mycological history. I never had Latin so I also like that you pay attention to the scientific names!! Good job!
This is fun watching your channel I live in carbonado and it looks so similar to our woods. You give me hope I didn't know you could go out at this time. These are kind of leftover fall mushrooms. I used to get varpas under the cottonwoods every year. I usually boil them first and then cook them in a with onions and garlic and bake them like a crispy stuff you have with bread.
The repetition is what is helping me identify better, it's funny when you come across a strange one i get excited when i do identify it in the video lol
Maybe you can do some cool interviews over the snowy months! I’d also love to see microscopy vids and any other science stuff you do back home when you’re not in the field.
You guys have such huge chanterelles! Unlike here in Europe where we only have the smaller C. cibarius (strictly associated with oak) as far as I know. I absolutely love them.
Enjoy your channel very much. Been out shrooming in No-Cal. Surprising there’s still a lot of fun-gi’s out there. Haha. Found an edible and sure it’s an agaricus but can’t find any confirmation with the features (partial veil, stipe etc.) is there a way I could send you photos to get help identifying it?
T Yesterday, 01/12/2024 there was a really sunny weather in north-eastern Bulgaria. I took a long walk with my puppy (Sarah). Found Trametes versicolor, Auricularia auricula-judae, Fomes fomentarius and others i could not idntify. By the way, how doyou train your dog for truffle hunting? Cam you give me a reliable source? Thanks in advance, and thank you for sharing your foraging.
Thanks for sharing! We have been training him thru an online course offered by Seattle Truffle company. It's pretty involved, and it's not cheap, definitely an investment. They have online classes, so look them up 👍🍄
Gosh honestly I'm not sure. There are so many different good mushroom publications, and a lot of them are quite regional, I know of the good ones in this area of the Pacific Northwest but not really sure about over there. Perhaps the Autobahn Society field guide.
@@mushroomwonderland1 Absolutely frozen and cold, you were walking through the wet green forest and it made me feel all warm and cozy. In my head I could hear birds chirping.
@@mushroomwonderland1 , Southern New England is coated in several inches to a half foot of wet snow that turned slushy and compressed from rain, and then refroze. Even the flattest of trails can be slippery and treacherous. The mushroom season here ended in early November.
He might give chase for about 20' if we encounter a deer.. He's older and chill now. When he was a pup he was known to chase a squirrel, deer, or occasional cat😆

Lucky!! That's awesome, thank you for commenting and sharing what it's like over there! I love that. Mush love 🍄💕
If I ever found that many mushrooms in one spot I would be the happiest woman ever ❤😂🎉🎉

Hedgehogs are delicious! Last walk I took found quite a few umbilicus and one large meaty Hydnum Repandum.

It's cold outside but Aaron, your videos warm the soul. Mush love✌️
I appreciate the repetition. Sometimes it helps me learn them, and other times it reinforces my ability to identify them.
Thanks Aaron always a pleasure

Thanks again for going into the woods for everyone and doing what you do. So many of us just can't get out there at all. Mushlove
Glad it brings you such value. Comments like that really inspire me! Mush love🍄💕
@@mushroomwonderland1 well deserved value if you ask me !
Out here in Ontatio Canada our season has been done ! Always cheers me up to see your videos show up in my feed, get my Mushroom Fix 😜
I am on the east coast, but your videos are so good that I watch them all.
Hunkered down in North Bend getting hit with some winter ❄️ enjoy the content as always!

Aaron you Rock Mycology Man
Wish I could find someone like you from Missouri talking about mushrooms and when/what to look for
I'm sure Missouri is loaded with morels along the river banks.

I find your videos very informative and love watching them.
I appreciate the repetition. Getting to the point where I can call it before you say it. Makes me confident I can eat some soon.😂

Burrr... It's so cold right now. There should be snow... How did you get so lucky. And yes... Your own spot. Good!!! Repeat Repeat... Always good!!!

I'm so jealous. I love to forage, I LOVE chanterelles. Hello from north central Arkansas!
Wow. I wouldn't have expected Chanterelles this late. I love them. Have you tried REI's rainpants? I really like mine.
Really cool video, Aaron!! I gotta get out there!
One of your best videos yet!
Another great video! And don't worry about being repetitive, we need many repetitions to get the information to stick!

Very interesting! Thank you!
Thanks Aaron, it's all frozen over here in Ireland, found some hedgehogs but the slugs had beaten me to it, its grim atm.
Lucky you pulling out Chants in January!
Great video! Thank you!

I found my first winter chants a couple weeks ago and theyre soo good. i think theyre chanterellier than chanterelles if that makes any sense
Gunner knows what your looking for so he follows the scent 👌🏼 give the dog top marks, he's working.
Outstanding!
Our children are growing up on this channel. You're like the Steve Irwin of Mushrooms to them (good thing mushrooms don't bite 😅)

pretty nice trail , must be alot of hikers out there?
I've never managed to find chanterelles of that size! I'd love to munch them up!
Very nice ✌️
Just yesterday 2-1-24 I found some woolly birds nest Fungi.. didn’t know what they were… now I do!
Any good refrence books you can suggest for new england area?

Try gaiters maybe

Where is the president of the KMS?
Probably at home on Bainbridge Island 😁
W mushrooms
I’d like to see a cats tongue mush under a microscope
Thanks but dude you are supposed to use a knife and leave the feet. You're killing off the patch. I'm ab avid mushroom picker ans that upsets me 😮
