    Anthuriums species are the one which are getting more and more challenging to identify especially with all the hybridization and mutations. Even though you may think you may get the pure form but actually it could be a hybrid. I have learnt to appreciate the foliage more instead of chasing down their parentages.

    I love your videos, your disclaimers. It's hilarious when you punch in funny bits, like with Ben's picks. You are hilarious, and awesome creator. I have learned alot. I know you love silver foliage, I have a new silver one...a silver cloud pilea. The growth, the color, the underside of leaves are red. The gorgeous growth, they call these friendship plant. There a silver sparkle pilea with adorable little leaves...if you do a plant index plant, pilea plants, rhaphidophora plants, would be terrific additions

    the unknown hybrid 15:00 looks like dorayaki (crystallinum hybrid). It has the dorayaki leaf shape, white veins, compact posture and stiffness. It can be anything else of course but that's what it reminds me of.

    • @aimer3042
      @aimer3042 Год назад +4

      I think it is dorayaki hybrid or probably Anthurium Crystallinum Silver. The "Pure" dorayaki anthurium has one very unique feature and the leaves indeed look like mini pancake and it is faces the sky upwards.. Imagine your hand trying to scoop some water - thats how the leaves will look like for "Pure" dorayaki or they said the highest quality grade. Try to own one.. It's pretty cute and indeed unique.

    Thanks for sharing your collection! I propagate my anthurium a lot, so I do have a few that are bushy and putting out multiple leaves simultaneously like your radicans. Most of my propsgations end up having 3-5 active growth points, but I have a few that have as many as 13. Part of the reason I love propagating anthurium is that they tend to get bushy, plus I love watching the growth process from chonks 😄

  • @Shniedelwoodz
    @Shniedelwoodz Год назад +2

    PSA - plant naming (for whoever cares)
    For species:
    Genus species - and the species name is in lowercase italic
    If it's a specific clone of that species, say, a plant with a unique look, it's Genus species 'Clone' - species still lowercase italic and then some name in single quotes. In this context, clone means a single plant that is cloned (via propagation or TC) or will get cloned --> multiplied.
    For crossses:
    Genus Crossname - if it's within one genus, say Anthurium with Anthurium, it stays Anthurium. If you cross plants of different genuses(eseses), there's a new genus name. After that, it's some made up name for that specific cross. Sometimes that one cross, to come to this Crossname, you need specific clones of a species (certain looks).
    If you got special clones of a cross, there's the same as for the clear species - (Cross)Genus Crossname 'Clone'.
    What traders tend to do:
    They often times have this habit of claiming clones as either new crosses (they move the clone name into the crossname position without the quotes) or they leave out the crossname completely. Suddenly it's a tradename. Example: In boxstores, you tend to get a scented and yellow and pink coloured and orchid called "Phalaenopsis Liodoro". The actual name of this plant is Phalaenopsis Sweet Memory 'Liodoro'. They just sell copies of that one output of that one cross under the clone name as trade name.

    The A. radicans is not probably pure radicans but a hybrid with luxurians. I have the exast same plants which grows also the exact same grazy way. :D The pure radicans has a creeping growth habit and that to me suggest to me that it might be radicans x (luxurians x radicans) also.

    • @frau_caro
      @frau_caro Год назад +3

      Almost all my Anthuriums are in Leca and do just fine (in my room, 55-65% humidity with help of a humidifier, no greenhouse, but plant light).
      2 of my Queens sitting in water since last summer, just recently put the 3rd in Leca, so not sure there yet. All Velvet Anthuriums BTW.
      I'd say just make sure there is a bit of air circulation as those that I have more in the corner with not much air movement, did get some spots (as do the Alocasia in the same corner). Assuming that could be as they have quite some water with the Leca and all very tightly packed next to each other for a while now. I am sure they will look perfect once I have moved and finally can give then more space, again. When they had before, they all thrived. Spots are minor, all still looking gorgeous so Leca works just fine for me.
      I thought they love air on the roots so big Leca balls allow for more air compared to Pon, that was the reason for me to go with Leca first. Not an expert here but I hope that helps. 🙂

    Last quarter of 2021 i started out collecting philos and monsteras and some random plants but they were taking up spaces so stop for a while but my heart just fell in love with anthorium hookerii and jenmanii especially those variegated ones. However, same like those previously colletions they just need good space. Then came april 2022, i started out heart shape anthoriums with just
    -doroyaki, silver blush, crystal hope, and crystalinum. I just love them. But when my father past away last year, i wasnt really focusing to buy anything. But just last december last year i started out to continue my collections, so i imported: white stripe regale from ecuagenera and its just melt my heart…..
    So this month as the year starts the following were added:
    -doroyaki green
    -kos x doroyaki
    -black magic (dresreleii x lux)
    -magni verde x aos x bessae aff
    -bessae aff hybrid
    -papilaminum blue x supermassive
    -hybrid papi red stem
    -red crysta ecuador
    -hybrid leuconorum (splashes yellow var)
    -david portilla dream
    -amazon rabbit (fm ecuagenera)
    -clarivernium tarantula
    -inverse raven soul
    Ohhh i still able to import 3 hookerii premium variegations from thailand. And promised myself that would be the last three 😂😂😂 for a birds nest type of anthorium..
    I still have wishlist but kind of too expensive.

    Your Radicans... I've replicated that effect accidentally with an over application of gibberellic acid on a Crystallinum... long story short it was neglected and sort of stalled, so I applied some to an inactive node. Unfortunately I apparently didn't get the mix quite right and every inactive node on the plant shot off a new head. Looked very similar before I separated them. About half of the separated plants did it again before calming down to fairly normal. Before TC was quite as common, and with plants that aren't easily TC'd, GA has been fairly commonly used to ramp up production by activating as many nodes as possible. Not as efficient as TC, but much quicker than grow snip, grow snip, grow....

    Are you expecting to have any non variegated strappy anthuriums available at any point this year? I am obsessed atm.

    Recently got back into my plants after being burnt out for the last 6 months. Super shocked all of my anthuriums survived but half of my philodendrons kicked the bucket.

    I was looking some of them up and I can’t find them in Australia, or they’re horribly expensive. I think I need to find a (dealer) seller in Australia

    my philodendron pink princess is doing the same thing as your anthurium radicans. it's deviding itself and creating new growth points very rapidly. it's making me crazy and I don't know how to fix it😭it's such a nice pink princess with great amount of varigation and I want it to grow big leaves but producing dozens of new growth points makes it's leaves stay small and deformed. I can't even attach her on a moss pole because it keeps pushing out new tiny plants from every side😣

    I have a few Anthuriums that are Doug the same as your Rad, my Dorayaki I believe may be a Tc? But it looks like it’s three maybe four plants combined not as many as your rad. That’s crazy I was thinking of splitting but maybe not

    I may be completely wrong here but isn't the "dark form forgetii" actually the regular one ? For what I'm aware, the one with white vaining is called "white stripes forgetii" and it's a hybrid of something because eventually the sinus shows up with maturity. Again, that may be total bs but it sort of makes sense to me

      @emmap3283 Год назад +1

      the regular forgetii is actually in between the two shown, it has veins naturally but not super striking. both white stripes and dark form were variations within population that were made into cultivars. as for the sinus all forgetii can occasionally throw a leaf with sinus, but it doesn't indicate hybridization. its just like the debilis she showed who threw a really wide leaf randomly. i have a very mature white stripes that hasn't thrown anything with sinus yet and I've had babies that threw normally lobed leaves and grew into their normal shape. its just anthuriums keeping life interesting.

    Hi! Kaylee or someone else who may know, do you have any advice for someone growing a crystallinum whose growth points keep drying up? I haven’t gotten a new leaf since June. I had it in my grow cabinet starting in September, but I think the light was too much bc the leaves started looking bleached yellow. I took it out in December and transitioned it to pon to try something different (it was in soil and the roots actually looked fantastic) and finally started to get some growth points but they’ve dried up now. I dunno what to do! I’m so close to just chopping it at the base bc the stump is so huge/tall and bare! Looks dumb. Thanks to anyone who has any suggestions.

      @@majashelley1249 I just came back to this video and saw I left a comment. I'll say, since my comment, I all of a sudden got three leaves all at once! I left it in pon, and then inoculated with Great White. I don't know if it was a coincidence, but it's still going strong! 🤷‍♀️🎉

    My crystal does the same thing as your radicans! I have a bunch that are chunky and I don't think they're TC but I don't know ( most from ecquagenera ) and honestly don't care 😂💜
