    Just found your channel. Subbed right away. Kit sounds insane, and no kit will sound any good recorded unless the engineer has half a mind on how to properly capture a drum kit. The sound here is phenomenal. Not to mention the playing, super tasteful and full of nuance. Keep up the awesome content!

    Kaum zu glauben, wie gut das Drumkit klingt. Gemessen am Preis, ist das DER Deal schlechthin. Bin auf der Suche nach einem "kleinen" Set für Kneipen- und Unplugged-Gigs. Dieses werde ich definitiv mal antesten. P. S.: Dein Drumming ist - wie immer - supergut.

    Amazing playing and you REALLY know how to pull the tone out of these small kits. May I ask about your head combos and general approach to tuning these mini kits?

    • @digitaldrumming
      @digitaldrumming  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much! Actually I am doing quite straight forward tuning (I'm way too impatient for long tuning sessions honestly 😀) same pitch for top & bottom. If the room sounds good and is acoustically treated well, even those small kits can sound "huge".
      I was even more impressed by the little Sonor AQX kit, which feels a lot more "high quality" compared to the Tama:
      ruclips.net/video/Qznbxkz4504/видео.html
      Also the Yamaha Stage Custom Hip is a great kit for the price:
      ruclips.net/video/kwZ4bWKcLgw/видео.html
      I personally prefer smaller kits to huge ones actually, since I am not too much of a "Lars Ulrich" guy haha 😁 Kind regards!

    really good to hear you play. You make it sound so gound. I notice you change the drum heards for evans on the toms. Could I know which drum head model you are using on the kick to sound like this ? best regards 🙏

  • @mdoucette45

    I know you have played a ton of kits since demoing this and the Yamaha Stage Hip Custom, but would you have a recommendation of one kit over the other? I am stuck between the two of them. The larger diameter bass drum has me wanting the Yamaha but the smaller tom of it is a downside. I am a Tama biased drummer so branching out to Yamaha seems crazy. Any insight? Also Birch Vs Polar I believe on the Tama. Thanks!

    • @digitaldrumming
      @digitaldrumming  2 года назад +1

      Hey Andres, thank you very much! Oh man sorry to say, but drum tuning is really a process of learning, routine & hearing experience (overtones etc), so you'll just have to get into it & maybe get some help from a drummer who has experience in this field already and can assist you while he's there with you in the same room. Kind regards & happy drumming!

  • @Mariusss100.

    I bought this kit two months ago and I have two problems.
    1. It's hard to find a good tunning for that 14x7 floor tom. Yours sounds pretty good, but the mix changes everything.
    2. Toms need half a key at every 2-3 hours of playing. It's annoying. (never had this problem with any other kit)

    • @digitaldrumming
      @digitaldrumming  11 месяцев назад

      Hey Marius, I totally agree & can confirm these problems. Although I was able to get a nice sound from the kit, production quality felt terribly cheap/flimsy. The snare went down several tones during a longer take and the strainer would come off every once in a while. Lowest quality kit I’ve tried yet actually. The Sonor AQX has WAY better quality, I recorded the jungle kit right after the Tama and difference was Night & day really. Kind regards!

      @@digitaldrumming That means I made a good decision when I put the kit up for sale. Just the other day I was looking at an AQX Jazz (18, 12, 14 and 13x6 snare) and I think I'll go for it. Thanks for info, man! I really apreciate!

      @@digitaldrummingyou say the same about the hardware, like bass drum legs etc? seems quiet sturdy from here, appears as if you hit hard? some plstic washers for the screws should do.. i must say i dont hear night and day after listening back toboth videos, but i havent played em

    • @digitaldrumming
      @digitaldrumming  11 месяцев назад

      @@KingCrimson82 Hi, as mentioned above I was able to get a pretty good sound from the kit considering the low price. Anyhow I personally prefer the AQX in sound & ease of tuning, also it feels more solid/well built at pretty much the same price.
      The Tama just felt cheap to me, its lightweight thin shells & kind of flimsy hardware weren't convincing at all.
      Worst thing was that strainer mount inside (!) of the snare coming off several times. So I had to remove the batter head 2-3 times to fix this, then retune etc.
      Sure you can overhaul the shells, exchange parts etc. When doing sound demo shootings at the studio, time is limited though, and I personally believe, that a Tama kit should be useable flawlessly out-of-the-box in the 2020s really.
      Keep in mind, that's just my personal experience and opinion, needn't be representative neccessarily.
      Kind regards!

      @@digitaldrumming thanks will check that one out too :-)! although the AQX kick is smaller (16 instead of 18) and I mostly play in a practice room with a band without being mic'd up. Perhaps then the Tama Club Jam is the better choice?

      Hey Ivan, if you tune pretty low it might work ok. The biggest limitation probably will be the 18" kick, which won't deliver the same amount of low frequencies as a 22". Kind regards!
