amazing advise, I've been doing more no contact, muscle and tall snatches when warming up and had much better technique recently. It's really important to learn properly early, I taught myself weightlifting at first and then after hitting 80kg went 6 months with no improvement and had to start from scratch. If only this video existed a year ago! Needs more likes!

I wish that I learned it this way! It took a long time of reverse engineering to learn to use the legs AND the arms, rather than just the hip contact, to elevate and then get under the bar. Your method teaches that correctly right from the start.

I think this is what ive started to realize experimentally the last week trying to fix my technique. I just started trying weightlifting more seriously but had drilled contact beforehand because of other youtubers... The coach i went to twice told me nothing about my technique but i tried according to his instructions and i immediately hit a wall, so i went back to just analyzing myself. Thank you for your videos Gabriel i think this is perhaps the best source of info i can get.

This video came out in the perfect time! My coach told me that I was pushing too hard with the contact with just 30 kilos on the snatch (as a 85 kilo beginner), whereas I thought that I needed to hit the contact as hard as possible all the time. Otherwise it felt like i was doing a muscle snatch. Well, now I know that it is okay 😅

Amazing video Gabriel! How would you recommend programming the no contact snatch? And how many times per week should it be performed to learn properly the technique?

“Again, very easily spot someone that he was learned bad, because all the time he will smash his pubic bone, he will do that style, keeping the barbell here [keeps bar exaggerated in front while snatching] and after that doing the snatch.”
“If you try to take the short path, it will not work very well for you”

You are so right at the end. I learned contact the bad way and after reaching 100kg snatch ( 0 consistency, some days 100kg easy, some days not even 80kg) i was forced to re learn everything again from stratch, and not only that, my shoulders and mechanics in the third pull were broken. This is so important for beginners. Maybe only maybe teach contact if there's a coach near you everyday, but if not, don't risk it. I would be snatching 140 if I learned the proper way the first time, but unfortunately I didn't have coaches near me.
