Thank you and that’s very kind of you to ask - here is the just giving page….www.justgiving.com/page/claire-wales-1700764967178?Fclaire-wales-1700764967178&Link&
My Dad had a very early modded XJ Coupe back in 1979. It was originally a 4.2, registration ‘NDA 723P’, but he had a 4.7 litre blue-printed engine fitted by Ron Beattie at Forward Engineering. A beautiful Midnight Blue colour too.
One of my favourite RUclips videos since 2005, is how good that was. I would love to see Harry testing the 2 Jags back to back. What an amazing tribute to Emma
Really enjoyed this series so far! Watched it all in one go and kept my attention all the way. Been great to have an insight to your lifestyle and your garage and I could listen to your knowledge all day Keep it up guys, looking forward to seeing a lot more from you! The only question I keep asking myself is should that steering wheel be so shiny? I know alot of people like using oil based treatments on their leather, I'm only saying this because I've cleaned many of my wheels over the years and been amazed when that shiny look dissapears and the rag is absolutely coated in years worth of oil and skin cells. And personally Iv'e never been a massive fan of really shiny leather and prefer more towards a satin look, but its not my car, i wish hahaha, like something between your freshly clean new center section of the wheel and the seats, easy to see the diffrence if you pause at 8:15 . Also also as you know clean leather can give better grip and is less likely to slip out of your hands unexpectedly whilst still allowing you to run the wheel through the hands when needed. Magic erasers are excellent for this job, another option is a strong all purpose cleaner a brush and a microfiber.
Hi Tom, really sorry to hear about your friend Emma and her turbo cancer. It’s a terrible thing, I hear it’s on the rise. Brilliant idea on naming a boat and leaving a wonderful memory of her. 👍🏻
Fantastic build! Manual XJR6s are my thing, so dropping the drivetrain into the XJC is grand idea in my book. I would be interested in hearing Harry's take on the car. He doesn't seem to mention anything about the car which spawned this great engine, the X300. I wondered whether they just might not be his thing. Does he care for an XJR6 manual for example?
Just binged watched all videos over a couple of days…. A lovely build in every aspect… and very entertaining (ignoring my wife’s comments of course) 👌👍
I really enjoyed this ten part series Tom. If I could make a suggestion for content...it would be to really get into the technical details of doing a manual gearbox and rear end diff swaps on modern Jaguar engines...from the 4.2 XK I6 up. Where to source gearboxes ? checking them ? rebuild costs ? Clutch master and slave cylinder info. Possibilities if any of modifications... eg rear gearing. You kind of inspired me to switch my engine in my project. Was going to use a 4.2 XK I6 but now I will be using an AJ16S in a replica Aston Martin DB5...using a 1996 BMW Z3 for the platform. Thinking of setting up my own channel showing this. All the best, Rob from Canada
I’m not a fan of that vinyl roof… but it’s nicccccce! I once saw one in France and the guy at the garage wanted 1000 euros… unfortunately it was too far gone….!
Yes, the vinyl roof is of it’s time - the key to using this particular car, as the ‘donor’ to do the restomod was the overall condition. Tom found this car that was structurally sound which was red with the roof. As you say, once they are too far gone, it doesn’t make financial sense to save them 👍
Hey Tom, love the XJC, nicely done. A question, I wonder how this compares with Harry’s green V12 manual coupe ? That would make for an interesting matchup.
Hi Tom, I know you do a standalone Emerald ECU &modern Bosch injectors for the V12 - do you think this is worth fitting to the circa 1989 V12 XJS with the Marelli ignition, later 16CU ECU etc?. would you see much benefit, or is the Jaguar OEM system already pretty modern/sorted by 1989?
Quick question for Mr Lenthall: Is a 4L AJ6 engine interference or not? I'm in the process of replacing the head gasket on mine and I was wondering if the engine would grenade itself if I were to mess up the timing. Thank you!
You've created a real beast of a car, excellent work. Wish I could afford it! Will you be providing an engineers report with the car when you sell it, so that whoever buys it , can get insurance? Your channel is now on my "essential veiwing list".
Nicely done XJC :-) Good to hear im not the only one who calls em fag lighters too, In the Mk X mine was unmolested due to the position but I did add an Aux USB in the parcel tray when I remade the wiring loom (Coz Lord Lucas, Prince of Darkness) and although I dont have Jag's anymore I have a handful of 80's Range Rovers.
The wheels are wrong. I have a 1990 V12 XJRS and the mods look great except for the wheels. The hardest part on this model is getting the windows to seal at speed.
Sorry to hear about your loss, I saw you talk anout this on Alex's podcast. Is there a just giving or similar page for donations?

Sounds like a nice car in a lovely colour! 👍
My dad had one in that colour. I think they called it “Windsor Blue” - or at least that’s what he thought they called it. 🇨🇦 🇬🇧
@lebojay Westminster Blue perhaps, that's a dark blue Jag colour. I believe Windsor blue is/was more of a darker sky blue.
Very nice restomod. Got the balance right.
Thanks a lot!

I don't know what it's about with these old Jaguars but they're so damn beautiful and "spiritual" cars. Never owned a Jag but always admired them.
Jaguar have definitely designed some amazing cars over time with timeless looks! Everything from the etype through to the modern ftype! 👍

It's a fabulous car. I'm sure it will raise a pretty penny in your friend's memory.
Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the video Tom & team. Car is awesome & charity fundraising plans should be applauded.
Thanks, much appreciated, and we are glad you enjoyed the video! 👍👍
This is why you need someone as talented as Tom to fettle you Jags. It’s also why anyone that can call him a friend is lucky. Good on you chap 👏
Cheers Nigel! 👍👍
I call him friend...don't know what he calls me. ❤
We need the two XJCs in a showdown PLUS Jimmy the Jag !

Thank you, much appreciated! 👍
Very nice car! I replaced the AdWest steering rack with a ZF in my 1991 XJ40 and it is so much better! (and not leaking...)
👍👍
Just watched the whole build series, absolutely enjoyed this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! So sorry for you loss. The plans for the car sound great and I really look forward to Harry's thoughts on yours vs his. Cheers.
Thanks Jeff - yes, it will be interesting to get Harry’s feedback on the car and see how it compares to his. 👍
Great work! All very tastefully and professionally done. But 3000rpm cruising on the motorway seems (and sounds) far too high for a 5 speed manual.
Great series. I want one so badly. My dad had a green Daimler Sovereign and then gold Daimler Vanden Plas when I was a kid in the mid 80’s. One day..
Nice 👍 - never say never…I’m sure one day you will own one!

Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching! 👍👍
This XJC is a beaut 🔥. I hope to see it at a JBC meeting this summer 🎉
Thanks - we will definitely be at JBC meetings this year with Emma the XJC - look forward to meeting you!
Oakley Holbrook XL…days of thunder vibe 🫡🫡🫡
Excellent review - thanks.
Thanks for watching!
That dash looks lovely, well done 👍
Thanks

Nice sentiment, naming such a gorgeous car…..
7:50 max speed 96 🤣Naughty Mr Lenthall
Found you recently through Alex but your a character in your own right 😊 lovely work on the jag
Thanks and welcome

Tom the kind of guy to calibrate the rev counter but not the speedo
🤣👍

Toms got a lovely ‘time indication utensil’ on the wrist but surely he needs to own a Bremont Jaguar watch to match..?
🤣…maybe one day! 👍
I hope that isn't some middle lane driving from Alex at 6:50
Almost certainly is! 🤣 but to be fair we were trying to get some drive by footage of each other! 👍👍
Nice car. The wheels could be improved upon, though.
Make a XKSS replica with modern features
