- Brian du Plessis @briandup0702 on instagram (10 years Judo) vs me, Ryan Liu (2 years BJJ 2 years wrestling), in a BJJ sparring. This was after randori, during which Brian hit me with a beautiful seoi nage. I wish I had video of that. Brian is preparing for an upcoming BJJ tournament in Taipei. Based on what I saw from him, he's going to crush the competition! He is a brown belt in Judo (and a white belt in BJJ, whereas I am a blue belt in BJJ (and a white belt in Judo).
He and the rest of the dojo 花蓮柔道館 located in Hualien City were extremely respectful, and I'm glad I trained with them. They taught me an uchi mata very well despite the style and language barrier, and I am grateful for their coaching. Bryan has about a year and a half of BJJ experience to my 2 years of on and off Judo experience, but I am 2 years older than him. It's amazing that I started BJJ when I was his age, yet he's 10 years into Judo already. Amazing athlete.
Judo in my opinion is one of the best combat sports out there, and as Khabib said, "If I had to choose between Judo olympic gold medal and wrestling olympic gold medal, please brother, of course Judo."
Lemme know if you want a breakdown!
a break down would be lit fr
