Premix is a life saver, got 183,000 miles on my fb and original engine with no rebuild
Mine has OMP and I'm at 350k miles and starts right up. Having small issues with the carb though.
Wait, what is Premix? I'm looking at a FC RX7 for around 15k dollars and am comparing it with a Mark II JZX90 as my first car
@@SkylineLofe In a rotary powered car, it comes stock with an oil metering pump (OMP) that injects oil into the chamber to lubricate the rotors(equivalent to pistons) to keep them from welding itself to the rotor housing(like an engine block). If it doesnt deliver oil, the engine will blow. Some people like to remove the oil metering pump, and like to substitute it with premixing. They add 2 stroke oil to the gasoline to lubricate the rotors instead. This allows you to run synthetic oil in the engine which is better for the car compared to conventional oil. If you arent a knowledge rotary guy and remove the OMP and one day you forget to premix, you will blow your engine. But if the rx7 you're looking at is all original and has either low miles(be careful as the seals in the engine are old and are prone to break) or has a rebuilt engine, 15k for an FC can be acceptable if its collectable. If it's a turbo ll or 10th anniversary, keep in mind that they are a good platform to boost, they certainly wont last as long as a naturally aspirated rotary. It's important to keep the engine well lubricated and keep it cool and do your regular maintenance and it will treat you well back.
@@ryanmccahill9496 wow. That's quite interesting. I knew that rotary's were quite thirsty for oil, but this is good to know. The FC I saw was a Turbo, one owner sitting at I believe 50k-70k miles. There was another one at Shinku Classics for 20k, a red RHD one that was at 50k.
@@SkylineLofe if they're on OG motors put aside about 5k for a rebuild and tune. Take it to a well known shop and they would for sure know their stuff. They're getting to be really old so just take caution.
One of my absolute dream cars ❤
You and me both
You and me third
JDM goodness! Great review! Totally agree with the RHD models being more cramped. The trans tunnel bulges out on that side.
I've seen Skyline, Supra, NSX, 3000gt VR4, 300ZX. FD by far is my favorite jdm Legend
i subscribed after the "do you have butter"
Nice review and nice car. Premix premix premix. I am so tired of people who say the rotary is unreliable. Get a good engine builder and then do some research and you will enjoy one hell of a car. P.S premix premix premix. Brap on.
"Air quotes" are called for when you say "back seats".
at 5:26 Zack doing his best impression of the Doug Demuro laugh! LMFAO.
Hey Zack, if you are ever in Sacramento area, you can drive my pristine RX7 convertible.
Such a beautiful car
looking for an rx7 and i want one with backseats
Why don't they make this anymore? This bodywork is amazing! I wouldn't care if it had a toyota corolla engine in it. It would still sell well!
The oem front bumper has something akin to a hump in its “mouth”. What purpose does it serve? Also, when summarizing the car, the front bumper looked like it had a gap issue. It may be hard to see considering the color.
THOSE AMEMIYA AW7 WHEELS ARE WHAT I WANT ON MY DREAM BLACK BORDER KIT FD!!! Btw I’m Japanese and my uncle has an FD 😂
I might get one but I also wanna swap a 2j in my frs and I have to chose one which one so I chose
Rx7
rx7
2:16 weird flex but ok
Bigger flex then you think
What’d you think of Dallas
Loved it!
Kyoko? Is that you?

I dont have any personal experience with rotary cars but I've really taken a liking to them. Idk if I'll ever be able to afford a RX7 but RX8's are stupid cheap right now. Might be a fun toy to play around with 😋
Do your research first, most are trash because the owners didn't take care of them.
The engine bay is RED.
The fd looks ok at best at least to me. The FC looks way better and performs better then the fd.
Uh, what? Listen, I love FC RX7's and would buy one any day if I had the space, but the FD's suspension geometry itself is an improvement over the FC's McPherson struts. Looks are debatable, I think the FC and FD both look great.
How is the suspension better? Last time i checked the fd lacks the all powerful DTSS rear hubs. From a proud FC touge racer.
@@sarahkaplan8277 ...you've got to be kidding me. Last time I checked, the FD has double wishbones all around, compared to the multi-link rear end and front struts that the FC has. That alone gives the FD a major advantage in cornering, not to mention the chassis stiffness upgrade it got over the FC.
Nobody who tracks the FC seriously keeps that DTSS rear steering crap in it, most of the guys I know who track or drift their FC's delete it altogether for proper neutral toe in/out. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then I'm just wasting my time here.
Lastly, take a look at FD lap times on any well known race track and compare them to the FC's times, or even racing companies like RE-Amemiya who specialize in RX7's (Tsukuba is a good example).
A stiff ass car is a hazard on mountain roads. The FC handles as well as the nb miata of the time which if im not mistaken has a higher skid pad g rating then said fd. ON a track FD on the mountains FC all the way
@@sarahkaplan8277 Lol the FC does not handle like an NB Miata, not even close. Skid pad numbers don't demonstrate how nimble a car handles either, it just means they had decent tires when tested brand new for a brochure. If people based handling performance with skid pad numbers, a Camaro would be thought to be a good handling car when in reality it's a boat.
Even in a touge setting, an FD has the advantage, if you want proof, look at any of the Hot Version Monster touge race videos in Japan, not a single FC is shown while FD's are a regular contender on the show against GTR's and S2000's, lol.
What’s the wrong way to experience a rotary? ().()
