Following the evacuation of Big Boss and Kazuhira Miller from the besieged Mother Base, the surviving members of MSF who were left behind at wreckage of Mother Base collect their dead and prepare to bury them at sea with aid from the UN. While inspecting the dead soldiers, a member of the UN’s aid team requests to take the body of a fallen soldier who was apparently killed in the attack.
The fallen soldier assisted in the defense of Mother Base during the attack before a large worm hole opened above the sinking facility. Though the soldier was able to avoid being sucked into the worm hole, their left arm was severed after the worm hole closed and they fell to their death.

In a way the meta narrative in Metal Gear has continued especially in the part where they say you were the key to everything. The problem is it continues in a negative context because there are so many of us who are the key to everything but we will probably bring down the franchise because of our negativity and rightly so. Negative criticism is not a bad thing in this context because this company has a lot of bad practices instilled in this game and the rest of the gaming industry cannot follow this practice or it's going to crash the industry. Watching the story makes me think that some of the people that made this game may have worked on other Metal Gear games and almost had a funeral for the metal gear franchise at the beginning but take it as you will we'll keep watching...observing... learning.
the reason is...minimal effort. Just think about how many assets, animations, props etc they did to make survive happen...yeah this game is basically a 1 man job, sure we will never know how it was developed but Iam sure there were just a few people working on it, so the pay off for konami was massive even if the game failed.
@@tezwoacz it could be even less effort to turn the FOBs into a proper game (MMO kinda?) and the outcome could have been one of the better PvP/PvE/Co-Op/META games ever, but the Japanese devs lack vision for something like that.
@@Mixonpl problem there is that in online fps games market there is a lot of competition no one would have bought an fob/mgs online shooter when you have other better games out there, now the single player market is a completely different thing, people buy sp games and expect to play them only for about a week or a month before buying a new one. Iam not sure if Iam correct but there was one interview with I think a cd project red CEO where he told its much better (financially) to make single player games than online games, because sp game will succeed even if its mediocre while an online mediocre game will surely fail.

I mean the game looks ok.. but I feel like all the talking system should have been cutscenes instead but it is what it is.

I guess that means everything that Snake and the others did in the games didn't matter anyways, if this is how the future ends up.
Nope, for one it isn't canon to mainline games, but the canon ending for this game is defeating the lord of dust which means the cycle ends, and because it's a cycle that means there's an infinite amount of parallel timelines, so the next timeline after the cycle ends would remain pretty much unaffected by the lord of dust as it would be in main series canon.
Basically, It's complicated.

I feel like this game could've been better if they went in a different direction, maybe you could help ocelot rebuild mother base as a diamond dogs soldier, even visit venom and big boss in the hospital near the end. Instead they went for zombies, and blew a big opportunity

This sounds a lot like the DOOM and Resident Evil story lines... with some major differences.
This game is sick, not a bad game at all, just difficult as hell, like MG snake eater, the survival mode is very challenging.

as much as people hate on this game, i think, ignoring the MGS universe, it stands on its own merits as a survival game.
i never got to play MGS growing up, i had a gamecube, 5 games, and that was it. so when i hopped into MGS survive, i had nothing to compare it to, no understanding of MGS lore, all i had were the games own merits to base my judgement on, and to be honest, i enjoyed the game.
in hindsight, i can understand why people would feel scorned about this game, MGS has such a rich and beloved history, having this come out after MGSV must really feel like a kick in the balls.

Terminimal nah man, needless to say i don't even wanna connect this game to mgs at all but to me that didn't seem right, also they were looking at it like it seemed familiar and immediately had a flasback of getting sucked in that wormhole.

What's super interesting about the cutscenes in this game is that they feel so much more video-gamey than Kojima's direction. It's the kind of thing you don't miss until it's gone.

I wished this game let you play in the intro as a level to show us how it ended up like that instead of giving us cassette we should have made the character go through a cutscene when these guys arrived and then the fighting starts where you’re fighting across all these platforms and then you meet up with boss then get left behind cause of the explosion it also gives us an explanation to what happend to certain characters.
I wouldn’t mind playing this game, but I don’t understand the hate for it.

Just wanted to say that this game had so much potential to be an mgs game with civ elements. Could’ve been so good if the remnants of big boss’s pmc split and you had to outcompete one another, but no, it had to take the zombie route.

It definitely doesn't feel like MGS. If you don't compare this game to MGS games and you like survival games then you'll like this game. I'm personally not a fan of survival games of this type. It felt like a hassle to me to have to maintain your player by constantly having to eat and drink to stay alive. Overall the combat system felt very limited, felt like I was fighting the same enemy all game and the story didn't interest me.
No!. This game is trash and nothing like MSG. Its a tower defense, wave based action game with lot of grinding. You also need to drink and eat every 15 min or so, otherwise you die LOL. Its riddled with microtransactions and you have to pay for a saveslot (what?) DO.NOT.BUY!!

You should give it a try, to go in there without viewing this game with the konami hate goggles. Multiplayer is pretty fun due how hectic it can get, and it has a pretty solid loot system that feels pretty awarding getting S rank in multiplayer
Phantom pain was awesome and I wouldn’t mind playing it over again. However, this game is garbage and really threw us off on our expectations and experience with prior games. Thanks a lot for giving us this abomination.
