I got the game on sale: I bought the game because I played Star Ocean Second Evolution on PSP and was excited for the Remake of the game.

Good to see you've recovered while playing those exciting JRPGs 🥰
As for me, I've only played Ender Lilies throughout November (are Metroidvania games considered RPGs? Eh, fuck it they are for me lol), though I've only finished it earlier this month.
I managed to reach the true final boss's second form before giving up and just getting the normal ending in my playthrough, then I watched the true ending on RUclips since it's only a few minutes long.
I haven't played much in terms of JRPGs in December, but with the Holiday vacation officially starting for me, I had 2 short JRPGs I want to at least clear them out of my backlog: The Cruel King and the Great Hero on Switch and Mario&Luigi Paper Jam on 3DS.
While not gaming, I was mostly focused on reading Demon Slayer and a few other manga series on my daily work commutes and whenever I wasn't feeling like playing any game during my free time.
With all that's been said, I wish you Happy Holidays to you, Tara! 🎄🎮💖

Didn't really complete any games this past month though I did finish the Fontaine arc in Genshin Impact (the middle was so slow but I'm glad I continued as it got really good at the end). I started Fate/Samurai Remnant and, while not JRPGs, Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways DLC and Super Mario Wonder. For the last week of December, I'm just going to play some gacha game events and try to finish up the Resident Evil 4 DLC. In January, I want to finish Fate/Samurai Remnant and start Trails from Zero. Thanks for the video and happy holidays!!

I decided to dig into my backlog while putting holocure on recharge mode, I’ve almost finished the story for Digimon World: Next order on Steam as it came out earlier this year with a lot of QoL updates from its initial PsVita and PS4 versions.

I finally beat Chrono Cross! Overall it was a good game but I didn’t get as into the story and characters like I hoped I would. I’m glad I stuck with it though because that ending with the reveals was amazing and shocking. The very end of it just blew my mind. The game just had too many side characters that I didn’t care about at all and that was its issue. Here is where it ranks on my JRPGs I have played so far list:
    1. Final Fantasy 10 (PS2)
    2. Final Fantasy 7 original (PS1)
    3. Xenosaga 3 (PS2)
    4. Baten Kaitos (NGC)
    5. Skies of Arcadia (NGC)
    6. Xenosaga 1 (PS2)
    7. Eternal Sonata (PS3)
    8. Baten Kaitos Origins (NGC)
    9. Super Mario RPG (SNES)
    10. Chrono Cross (PS1)
    11. Xenosaga 2 (PS2)
    12. Hybrid Heaven (N64)
    13. Beyond Oasis (SGEN)
    14. Final Fantasy 3 (NDS)
Chrono Cross burnt me out on the genre right now. So I’ll be taking a break and playing some Rachet and Clank and Spider-Man for a while. I did get Star Ocean 2nd story R for PS5 but I also recently picked up Relayer and that one really gets my attention. So I’m trying to decide if I want to play Relayer or 13 Sentinels or go retro and finally play Chrono Trigger.

I did spend the first week or so of November finishing up a Sonic SuperStars, but most of it was dedicated to Star Ocean The Second Story R! It's been such a joy seeing one of my all-time favorite games given such a loving a gorgeous remake. I've also been setting aside just a little bit of time to play the original Pokemon Red on my 3DS here and there. It's another childhood favorite, and I realized I haven't replayed the gen 1 games in probably over a decade!
December has been largely about the new Pokemon DLC, Indigo Disk, which has been a treat, and hopefully I can finish before the end of the year (which is looking unlikely, I'm having way too much fun!)

It’s been a while since I commented, but this past month I finally played the Torna DLC and started playing God Eater 3. Torna was just as great as I had hoped, with it having the incredible music, story and gameplay that XC2 already had. I wouldn’t consider it the best Xenoblade by itself (as many people claim it to be), but I do think it’s an incredible addition to Xenoblade 2 (which makes sense as it was supposed to be part of the main game at first). God Eater 3 has been quite fun so far, with it having a more fast paced version of the combat in the Monster Hunter series, very good music, and an interesting enough story and setting.

Im very excited for Star Ocean Second Story R. I pre ordered, but it went right into n my backlog.
I finished up Trails of Cold Steel 3 this month. Then I started Cold Steel 4 right after. I got about 20 hours in, then I put it down for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. For the past year and a half, I've literally been playing the Crossbell and Cold Steel games. I just needed a little break, but im loving Xenoblade 2. Im about 28 hours in

Finished Disgaea 7 and am currently on day 6 of SMT Devil Survivor. Both were my first games of their respective series.
For Disgaea 7, I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Going into it, I heard things like "the post game is the real game", but imo you could play only the main campaign and walk away feeling satisfied. I enjoyed the main campaign. The story was pretty fun, if a little simple. I felt like most of the main cast was written really well and was really likable, which surprised me because I heard that Disgaea games were mainly about comedy. The stages in the main campaign were mostly pretty easy, outside of a few difficulty spikes for the end of chapter bosses and most of chapter 12. I never really felt the need to grind during the main campaign. In fact I had to stop myself from doing side content, otherwise I would become super overleveled for the main campaign. I tried the postgame a bit, but quit after it became clear I needed to dedicate a lot more time to grind to beat the ultimate post game boss.
I'm enjoying SMT Devil Survivor so far. The battle system is pretty strange, it plays more like a standard turn based game than an SRPG imo. I've heard that SMT games were hard, but I haven't really had any difficulties with this game so far. I feel like if you've played SRPGs before and know which abilities are generally good in that genre, you'll probably do ok here. I have noticed that on normal, the game is quite stingy with giving out money. If you don't grind, you won't be able to afford a full team of the newest demons and will have to deploy some underleveled demons. I think the story is the most interesting part of this game. The basic premise is that the Japanese government has ordered a lockdown of everything within the Tokyo Yamanote circle due to the presence of demons. The characters have to find a way to survive inside the lockdown and lift it, otherwise everyone inside the Yamanote circle will die in 7 days. I feel like the lockdown premise aged pretty well due to Covid. I'm looking forward to finishing this game.

I enjoyed your comment, very interesting to hear so much detail about two games I want to play but haven't yet :3 Disgaea especially; I tend to find them mentally a little daunting but it's nice to hear 7 has a good campaign that could be an achievable way to play with it :)

Unfortunately I haven't been able to play much of anything this month. Been away from home for my job most of this month so it's really just been Honkai Star Rail. Which, certainly scratched the gaming itch and helped passed some time but isn't the game I wanted to play. Now it's a mad dash through Like A Dragon Ishin and Gaiden before the next one releases in January.

Feels weird watching a video about November this late in December. Lol.
I finished Tales of Berseria recently, after 5+ years since actually starting it. While it has poor graphics and annoying gameplay, I was surprised by how good the writing was. The script had numerous questionable moments, as is basically a JRPG "disease", but the fact that most of it was good shocked me. Velvet is the best female protagonist I've ever seen in a video game, and it's not even close.
Dipped my toes into Eiyuden Chronicles Rising for an hour or two, and sheesh, that was awful. Had nothing going for it outside of beautiful background art.
Strangers of Paradise made me give up on it because of the second half of its final boss, and it's combat wasn't perfect, but it's been nice seeing these modern FF titles reaffirm my stance that the action RPG route is the correct way to go with the future of the franchise.

Yeah, timing isn’t great for this video release but getting sick will do that 😅 glad to be better and have it out at all at this point haha
And super glad to hear you’re enjoying Berseria! I’ve never tried it, but I love the look of the characters in that one, so everything you said sounds great :3
Interesting re: Eiyuden as well, I can’t seem to get myself interested in those games yet and maybe it’s for a reason, although I understand it has special roots. :3 the main game looks to have more promise at least
And strangers is also one I wanna get to! Need more time for modern final fantasy’s it seems haha thanks for your comment :))

      @@JRPGJungle Understandable. I'm glad you're feeling better.
Yeah, the story carried Berseria hard. I know you love character interactions as well, and let me tell you, I think you'll absolutely love the skits in this game. Banter of this quality is so rare in JRPGs outside of Yoko Taro games and such; the party dynamic is probably the best I've seen in a JRPG. I hope you'll enjoy the game whenever you get to play it (it's on sale on PSN right now actually, if I'm not mistaken).
Oh yeah, the recent trailer for Eiyuden Hundred Heroes was wayyy more enjoyable than the entire time I spent with Rising. Curious about the stark quality difference.
Before Strangers, I'm curious about how you'll feel about FF16 first, For me, it's *very easily* the best FF game the series has had since FF10.
      Enjoy your break!
