    You will absolutely love Nocturne! It's my favorite JRPG of all time!
    Some tips, since your videos have really helped me a lot and many find the game to be quite hard:
    1. Buffs and debuffs can be stacked up to 4 times. Don't be afraid to spam these all the time, especially against bosses. You live and die based on your ability to buff, debuff and remove negative buffs and debuffs.
    2. You're encouraged to attack weaknesses with magic, or critting with physical attacks, as both of these essentially give you an extra press turn to use. The press turn battle system is incredible.
    3. Equipping magatamas change your strengths and weaknesses just like changing a persona, but it's also how you learn new skills.
    4. A strength build is optimal, sprinkling in some endurance, agility and luck wherever you see fit. You can raise magic and it is good, but it falls off and loses out to physical late game.
    5. Matador is a common early boss that is raged about on forums. He can easily be defeated by equipping the Hifumi magatama for the ability to null force and learn fog breath, an incredibly potent skill that acts as an all-enemies sukunda x2 for the cost of one press turn. If you still struggle, fuse Uzume. The Hifumi magatama can be purchased in the underground city before reaching Matador and is nearly impossible to miss.

    warning, firis is surprisingly large, especially if you want the true ending. it can be a massive time-suck. doesn't mean it's bad, but more than any other atelier, it felt like it was a nearly endless open world like skyrim or something, with no ending in sight as you just run from quest to quest. bizarrely, it's also the only atelier i've played where you beat the normal ending and you have only half, maybe, of the recipes. and some were missable. that's an incredibly different pacing than every other one.

    i also played poison control, based on your review and a couple others. it was enjoyable. a few flaws, but overall unique and fun. a few levels were too long, and one or two hidden items are super difficult to find, and they really should let you jump in to snag an item and then leave and keep your progress rather than requiring you to finish the whole level. the platinum's grindy, i stopped working for it when i found that i'd have to play every level over again due to the fact that there's a unique secondary gun in almost every level, but you have to go in without one armed at all in order to pick it up. i wish i knew that at the beginning, as that's kinda discouraging to have to grind out.

    In April I played the non human path of Radiata Stories. I want to go back to the split and do the human path before I review it.
    This month I have been playing Tales of Xillia 2 and I'm already up to chapter 11. It's quite enjoyable but re uses a lot of stuff from the original.
    I'm also starting the Mass Effect trilogy yet again tomorrow with the remasters, and I'm eyeing up a copy of The Alliance Alive HD Remastered which just arrived today, but I want to resist starting it until I'm done with everything else.

    The more you talk about Atelier and Poison Control, the more it makes me want to dive into them sometime soon! This month has been mostly a Yoko Taro ride for me, as I have been playing the new Nier Replicant as well as going back to Drakengard for a bit to sort out my feelings about that game. I highly recommend Nocturne when it releases. I may not get this remaster for a while because I still have a working ps2 and the original game, but I'm very curious to hear your thoughts about it since you are coming to it from Persona like I did when I first played.

    Right now I'm playing the Dusk trilogy, I will start E&L soon (I also saw your reviews from the games and the're great), and once I'm done with it I will move on with the Misteryous trilogy, now I'm a fan of the saga as well, they are entertaining games. Besides I've played 5-6 SMT games, apart from the Persona games, and most of the times they have a good script and combat systems. I'd say it's my favourite videogames saga. I'm looking forward to SMT III as well since I haven't played it either.

    Oh wow, I didn't know the Blue Reflection anime was already going! For some reason I thought it was starting next season.
    For April, it wasn't much new for me, I've mostly been working on the same games I was playing in March, Wild ARMs 5, Shining Resonance and Re:Chain of Memories. April (and the first part of May) have been pretty hectic, so I haven't had as much time for games as I would like ;~;
    But for May, I'm gonna try to power through and finish at least one of these, especially since the explosion of games coming out over the summer (Disgaea 6, Great Ace Attorney, NEO TWEWY, NIS Classics Collection, Scarlet Nexus, Tales of Arise) is just going to cause my backlog to inflate to even more ridiculous proportions xD

    Another great video. I've been playing Sophie DX of late; my trilogy pack came later than I thought so I couldn't play it in April. I'm finding revisiting the game refreshing since it was my first Atelier; the new content added gives more backstory on her grandmother which made the opening of the game much more enjoyable. On another note I'm up to date with 'Blue Reflection Ray' and after episode 5 I'm itching to see what happens next, before than I felt it kind of lulled a bit. Still good though. Also heads up: Atelier Firis has a time limit, pro tip synthesizing an item counts as resting. Or at least it was like that in the original...

      It’s still like that in Firis, yeah :) I try to synthesize instead of resting everytime, I think I’m okay for the time limit so far but I’m also getting close to having -100 days left (20 hours in), so starting to get a little nervous lol but it’s a very interesting game so far :) and yes, I liked all the costume/grandma relayed content in Sophie too :) really fun game ^_^

    Great video! I recently finished both Shin Megami Tensei 4, so I'm very excited for the Nocturne remake. Also, after finishing NieR Replicant I really want to replay NieR:Automata, which I will likely start playing very soon. I've also been playing Monster Hunter Stories, it is a great spin-off if you like monster collecting games. As for the anime you mentioned, I am watching TWEWY and I am liking it a lot. I personally couldn't get into the Switch version as neither the touchscreen nor the motion controls clicked with me and I dropped the game, so I am exciting to experience the story and characters through the anime version :) if I get time, I'll continue playing the Kingdom Hearts games for the first time, I'm currently in Birth By Sleep and I already did one of the three routes.

    april for me was mostly trails of cold steel 4 since the pc version finally released, also of course the Atelier mysterious trilogy DX, even if i'm taking my time since thats my current stream game, currently passed the halfway point in Sophie (which I had already played in the past) but Firis and Lydie & Suelle are completely new to me! since I also got a switch recently I'm probably gonna finally play Fire Emblem three houses!
    Phone game wise, the pre-registration for the Atelier phone game in english has started so i'm looking forward to that while also continying to play bang dream and the english release of D4DJ when it comes out on the 27th!

    My main achievement recently was getting the platinums for both Ys 9 Monstrum Nox and Poison Control. For the me the former was the better game. Since I am on a Falcom run I then turned to a game I missed when it first came out which is Tokyo Xanadu. I also played a lot of Octopath Traveler but can't say I think that is a great game (despite the hype). Shin Megami Tensai Nocturne is definitely at the top of my list for what to play next. I have been toning down my gaming to focus more on game development in the last month or so, but I've been craving a good ol' classic JRPG, so SMTN Remaster is currently on my radar, I just bought yesterday and I've been sitting on it while I get work done.
    Honestly, your love for Atelier games has really piqued my interest. I want to start with Eschelle & Logy (that's the name, right?) just to ease in, but I've always preferred a more open, explorable world, and it looks like that one is separated via a world map. I dunno, what do you think? How does exploration feel in general for that Atelier title?
    (Not that anyone really cares, but my father in law, who lived in Paris, France for a few years, told me Atelier is pronounced At-uh-lee-ay, and got all huffy I was pronouncing it "wrong." Now I pronounce it in every way EXCEPT the correct way just because I like a good chuckle every now and then 😁)

    • @PloysMaw
      @PloysMaw 3 года назад +2

      The Atelier games aren't ever truly open world the closest they're been is in the Ryza Games and Atelier Firis. The later has a time limit and but the Ryaz games don't. I personally prefer Firis due to the synthesizing being more in depth and Firis is a (I'll get hate for this) better protagonist overall.

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  3 года назад +2

      I really liked Escha and Logy’s exploration just because the time limit was pretty loose, Firis is actually open world though as it’s not separated by a mini-map and is very much about exploring, but Ryza is also a great choice if you don’t like a time limit :3 depends what you like really! I really liked the gameflow of Escha and Logy though (still one of my favourites) and since you can choose which missions/quests you want to do most of the time, it feels quite free too :)
