Note: 1. The original script had Alonzo surviving and not being shot up. Denzel insisted that they change the script to not only have Alonzo die,but to do so violently, as "the wages of sin is death" 2. Snoop wore full blue and didnt know he was in "blood" territory; he asked to speak with an OG Crip as a means of breaking tension and avoiding any issues. He diffused any possibly issues. Lol 3. The King Kong line wasnt scripted. He ad libbed it,and they opted to keep it in there....i think most of that monologue was ad-libbed
Alonzo is top 5 movie villain of all time. Unfortunately he had to play this role to get an academy award when he should of been got one. Another Denzel film to please check out is crimson tide. Hes more of the denzel u would like lol

Loved your reaction! Training Day is most definitely a CLASSIC!!! It won Denzel an Oscar & kinda reintroduced him to a new generation! Although I agree, I don't like to see him as a crooked cop/villian, it is arguably Denzel's greatest performance

This was his first villain role which shocked audiences who were used to him being the hero or at least more dignified. The King Kong rant at the end of the film was improvised by Denzel it was not scripted. The actors the extras and the director stated that they were mesmerized at that scene. The Villain in the film has to sell it to make the good guy shine.
