    Denzel Washington insisted that his character die like a rabid dog, unceremoniously without the least amount of heroism or sympathy.

      @keyshawnbess572 6 месяцев назад +6

      True. They thought about Denzel’s character committing suicide or perhaps even getting away. But Denzel didn’t like those ideas.

      @@keyshawnbess572Suicide would've been out of character for Alonzo, I'm glad they went with Denzel's idea.

    "King Kong ain't got SHIT on me!"
    Fun Fact: That epic line was ad-libbed by Denzel Washington.
    Location Location Fact: The Quality Cafe coffee shop in the beginning of the movie (which was, incidentally, the first scene shot) is the same shop that was used in (but not limited to) Se7en (1995), Gone In 60 Seconds (2000), Ghost World (2001), and Catch Me If You Can (2002).
    Law Enforcement Fact: When the movie came out, many viewers and critics were skeptical of the scenes where Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) smokes marijuana laced with PCP and Alonzo's (Denzel Washington) explanation of how a cop who didn't take drugs offered to him on the street would be ID'd as police. David Ayer responded in an interview by holding up a highlighted section of the LAPD's rules and regulations; it stated that officers were allowed to use narcotics in very specific undercover situations and hewed closely to what Alonzo told Jake.

  • @swacfan100
    @swacfan100 4 месяца назад +8

    Antwan Fuqua said that most likely, Alonzo started out like Jake. Wanting to make a difference etc, pushing the line of the law to get things done until eventually crossing it. Before long, he himself becomes a monster in the streets, or a wolf in sheep's clothing, which is the worst.

    "King Kong ain't got SHIT on me! " :) - Based on corrupt LAPD Officer Rafael Perez, true story. Only Denzel Washington could do this story some justice. If you enjoy him as an actor, check out MAN ON FIRE 2004. This is personally my favorite role of his.

    I love how this movie shows a hierarchy in the criminal underworld. Everyone serves a higher master, even corrupt police officers. Payback and Layer Cake are other movies that do a really good job of this, too. It adds a lot to the texture and lore of the world.

      Yup. I've seen Layer Cake. It's one of those smart British crime capers where if you miss five minutes, you miss something important.

    Movie recommendation: Shot Caller (2017) starring among many others Nikolaj Coster-Walday (Jamie Lannister you know) and Jon Bernthal. Family man Nikolaj makes a mistake and winds up in a California state prison, and once inside it's sink or swim. His time in prison is told in flashbacks, while we follow current day Nikolaj as he at the start of the movie is released from prison, and he struggles to complete a deal he can't back out from. Fantastic performances, and with a haunting score. The last movie that had me this gripped was Sicario (2015), and that's saying something.

    Alonzo's original plan was to keep Roger alive because he still cared about him but once Roger said he's not gonna take this sitting down that's when he decided to kill him so it wouldn't come back on him, he even said to his squad if he gives any shit give him lead

    You guys ever gonna get Lewis back to finish Yellowjackets? lol
    Fuqua said even with Denzel and Hawk in the movie... the studios still werent convinced to let him make the movie (as he was a young director at the time) They needed another hook so he told them "Im gonna put Dre and Snoop in the film. except I'm gonna put snoop in a wheelchair and I'm gonna make Dr Dre a cop" and they let him do it,lol
    Fuqua thought it was troll funny making Mr 'Fuck Da Police' a cop.

    For another buddy cop movie (well I guess Training Day isn't one of those lol), check out Bright (2017). It's gonna sound a bit weird, but it's set in modern day Los Angeles (or so I think), but in an alternate timeline of Earth where some fantasy species also exist alongside humans. The main ones are Elves and Orcs, but there are others. Anyways, Will Smith plays a cop who's partner is the first ever - and highly controversial - Orc on the force. The movie draws quite a few parallels to our current society, with racism and prejudice and stuff like that. Pretty fun movie, with some good action scenes.

    It seems like the movie Training Day is based on Hollywood (CEO'S, ELITES). The peoples that are trying to achieve their goals or get to the top in movies, singing or whatever has to go through sinero's like this whether sexual, monterrey, or whatever, but maybe not in one day.
