It's fine you just take the picture down so much and for such a long time others have reacted to the same movies as you and are not having the same upload copyright problems if that's the reason. I sat through it anyways cuts are expected but you just do it differently
Denzel’s character, Alonzo, is based off Rafael Perez. Look him up. He was a dirty cop in LA during the 90s, working with Suge Knight and Death Row Records. Great reaction too! 🙌🏽❤️💯
Yep. The Rampart Division scandal. I thought at first "Oh, this has got to be exaggerated for film. They didn't really do ALL this, surely?" Turns out they did much more, even.
@@journeymariereacts Yeah you make me feel old. I remember when this movie came out. I was 13. My parents wouldn't let me watch it, but I sneaked and Watched it anyway, lol. Denzel has great movie going back to 1980s. You should go on a "journey"😜 wink, wink, and watch his whole filmography.
What was so amazing about Alonzo, really just Denzel performance in general, was the way he was able to really bring the character to life. It's like he was saying some real shit, but was still dirty at the same time. Like you can really tell that Alonzo used to be a good cop and he been through so much shit, to the point that once he reached his Breaking Point, there was no turning back. But you can tell that he really wanted Jake on his side, after the bond they build. That's why he wanted him to take the money, because by doing that, he wanted to save his life and call off the assassination from the Mexicans. Beautifully well written🔥🔥, Denzel and Ethan chemistry together was on point. They did another movie together, years later, I forgot what it's called but I still haven't seen it and I want too
Ethan Hawke said this was the hardest movie he ever filmed because he was standing on set watching Denzel film scenes on the first day of shooting and it popped into his head that he was sure Denzel was going to win an Oscar for this part, unless he messed up so bad that all people could talk about when they left the theaters was how bad Ethan hawkes acting is so he felt like he always had to perform well so his character didn’t take away from Denzel’s performance. Denzel did go on to win the oscar for best actor for this performance so I guess hawke didn’t do too bad as a costar.
That’s was 2Pac they was playing in the movie. The song is called Letter to the President. And that was Eva Mendes not Cameron Diaz. And Yes Ethan Hawke was in the Purge.
Yeah, one difference between Cameron and Eva is that Cameron proved to be more dedicated to her craft, even as she quit acting for a while to have a family. Eva has always seemed to talk about everything _but_ acting in her interviews.
The tattoo at 16:55 is a gang tattoo. In LA there are gang sheriff's units such as the Executioners, JumpOut Boys, 3000 Boys, Vikings, Banditos Etc. LA is gang capital of the world even cops have literal gangs with their hand signs/tattoos. When Alonso visits the "wise men" in the restraunt they're corrupt higher ups (gang leaders) They got structure as well. The movie is based on corrupt LASD robbing drug dealers, killing gangsters on the streets they don't and blame it on rival gangs, setting up scenarios to get away with sh*. They'd kill a gangster, dressed as a rival gang member shouting out rival gangs. It's pretty much what u see in the movie.
17:31 "Is that Terry?..." Damn, you really know Terry Crews from every angle Like, I knew he was distinctive looking but holy shit, I've never seen someone spot him from behind lmao
That's where you're all wrong lol 😂 Because if you paid attention to the movie instead of running your mouth, you would know that he hurt a Russian boss very bad and had to come up with a lot of money in order to stay alive. That's why he was doing what he was doing pay attention instead of talking
he was robbwd for oscar as malcom x shamed next year they gave him oscar for training day to say sorry he was great in n as malcom X oscars are bullshit.....
Denzel played in a lot of films that were great psychology thrillers. Devil in a blue Dress, Fallen, The Manchurian Candidate, and Book of Eli. But his more popular films in the Black community is Mo' Better Blues, Malcolm X, and American Gangster.
Hey, Journey! As of your Alien reaction, I am a new subscriber. 😄 Yeah, Denzel was great in Training Day. He earned the Oscar he got for this role, too, since he had some of the stiffest competition I've ever seen for Best Actor, like Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind and Will Smith in Ali. Denzel was also the first black actor to win a Best Actor Oscar since Sidney Poitier for Lillies in the Field back in the '60's, and he won that Oscar the same year Halle Berry won for her role in Monster's Ball (first ever black actress to do so). Alright, I think I've told enough trivia and namedropped enough good films for you in a comment, now, lol.
Epic reaction. That was fun. I watched training day at least 10 times back in the mid 2000s. Watching it here gave me a new feel to it. You had me laughing yo. Keep up the good work.
Raymond Cruz (the guy who had his "shit pushed in, big time" and said, "this is some trippy shit, homes") is the amazing actor who played Tuco Salamanca in "Better Call Saul."
There's a deleted scene in the end where Jake sees the older wise men from earlier and they ask him about the money. Jake shocks them by responding that he booked it. Fun fact #1: What Denzel did at 3:35 was improvised, Ethan Hawke got scared for real. Fun fact #2: The character of Alonzo Harris is based on Rafael Perez, who was part of the Rampart Scandal and allegedly involved in the murder of The Notorious BIG. His initials "RP" are seen on the linense plate of the car at the beginning of the movie. When you type in his name on RUclips, you can see that he works as a limo driver now. So when you're in L.A., this guy could drive you without you knowing who he is lol Reminds me how the main character in Goodfellas used to live and how he ended up in the end... "Get to live the rest of my life like a schnook". You should also find a brief documentary on YT on him called "The cop who turned into a gangster". Nice one, JM! Yeah, Denzel is a force, isn't he? Have you ever seen Glory? That was the one Denzel won his first Oscar for. Morgan Freeman is in it too. Excellent movie, really good stuff, but it's a heavy one.
If you want to see Denzel’s best performance watch Malcolm X. Malcolm X is my second best movie of all time after The Godfather. Malcolm X is so controversial it never gets the love it deserves.
Facts. We all know it’s because of who the movie is about though. Selma wasn’t even half the film of Malcolm x but got all the admiration. As is usually the case when it comes to those two figures.
The gangsters didn't kill Alonzo because they could've easily gotten nailed for killing a cop. They only held him at gunpoint so that Jake could get away safely,
Denzel Washington's Greatest performance will always be in 1992's Malcolm X! But he also did a brilliant job playing Alonzo in Training Day! Denzel Washington won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his menacing performance in Training Day! Fun fact: Some of the lines in the movie were improvised by Denzel, especially his iconic "King Kong ain't got shit on me" line! Denzel Washington is truly a legend!
I’m 5 months late but I love your reaction. This is my first time seeing your channel but I’m definitely subscribing. I must have been evil when I was a kid because I never really was ever mad at Denzel during the movie. I didn’t even want him to die but I’m always rooting for the anti-hero. When you said “I thought I grew up in the hood but I didn’t grow up in the hood” had me dying😂. Definitely going to check out more from you and look forward to future reactions

Former "Agency (like CIA)" operative helps people that regular Law Enforcement can't help. LOTS of action. Other movies Antoine Fuqua did were: Brooklyn's Finest, Olympus Has Fallen, Southpaw, The Magnificent Seven (with Denzel), The Guilty and Emancipation just to name a few. I'm invested. I'm on this path with ya. Diggin' the vibe. Can't wait to see what's next. Keep up the great work. Praying for that 10K subs drops soon.
denzel washington and ethan hawke is both so good in this movie... denzels role is based on a true cop named rafael perez. he was a corrupt LA police officer that did all kind of crazy shit. some people accuses him for being behind biggie smalls murder and accuses him for being a member of bloods:P. but this is one of my favorite movies for sure...denzel is also one of my favorite actors
There's a deleted scene where the Wisemen (the gangster police higher ups at the dinner) meet Jake and try to take the money before he books it into evidence. It was cut though.
For me this was a great lesson in how toxic and traumatized people can draft you into their toxic thought loop especially when they guilt trip you into something wrong (Narcissism maybe) you have to have a strong mind ( keeping myself helps to strengthen my own mind and morals). Can you imagine how many people are involved in these types of toxic relationships and may not have enough mental clarity to get out.
There was another movie came out shortly before, similar to this. No partner, but a very bad, dirty cop. Called bad lieutenant, with Harvey Keitel. He actually has a bit of a mortality crisis near the end, but it's an excellent movie. He's so bad, u never learn about his background, family, or even know his name!
You know what's crazy, i had to watch this movie "twice" to fully appreciate Denzel's performance. I think it might have been because i wasn't fully invested into it the first time around but i love it though.

Im another classic wt dezel is the bone collector him queen latifa n angelina jolie a banger i watch all of those movies multiple times n they are awesome
Loved the way you kept making excuses for Denzel in the first half of the movie. He is a super actor. You should se him in Mon on Fire and Philadelphiaand Glory for contrasting roles
There are alternat endings. [originally the movie to be released had a different ending but didn't test well with test audiences] I think they tried three different endings [or 4 counting this one] and ended on this for the movie release. You can U-Tube the other endings [there's a clip that shows all three alternates] My favorite of the others is one where the three wise men showed up at Jakes house after Denzel gets killed by the Russians and they want the 3 million in the bag Jake took from Denzel. [I forget exactly how it goes but they don't get it from him. Maybe he already turned it into the evidence room on his way home because that is where they confront him -at his home when he is pulling up to his house like this ending] Check out the alternates. It's kind of neat to see how the movie business works. [how they try different endings out sometimes and use test audiences]
4 mins in and already the best reaction I’ve seen so far lol people kept adding unnecessary commentary instead of enjoying it or would talk over important moments and miss information
This was actually one of Terry Crews first times being in a movie. Before that, he was a security guard for Ice Cube, and before that he played (briefly) in the NFL. There's an interview on here somewhere of him telling the story of how he got into the movie.... Best Terry C. performance ever is in the movie Idiocracy, which I would LOVE to see how you feel about. LuLz
Kinda of a late comment but Alonzo wasn’t pretending to be a cop. He was a cop the dinner scene was all of his higher ups. He was just corrupt. Funny when my dad was a cop in Chicago I showed him this movie and within the first 15 minutes he said that Alonzo is corrupt 😂
I.think this was Eva Mendez first movie, the side chick. She did a couple more movies with Denzel. Great actress, very beautiful, I think married Ryan Gosling.
Just my opinion, but I sincerely believe that actors who can bring you into a character's head like that aren't just brilliant actors. There's a little piece of that character in that actor and in their personal life. ✌️✌️🙏🙏🙏.

I think that kid in the fake warrant scene played the young Forest Whitaker character in black Panther. He looks just like him.
Hell of a performance from Denzel
Hey, first off ur just too beautiful and second im glad u liked it, Classic, have always loved this movie, Denzil is always the Dude u root for so its crazy just how good he is at playing the villian..What an actor, favourite line 'King Kong aint got shit on me' Ethan Hawk is cool too, u really feel for the Dude, never had a first day or work that bad...Anyway much luv from Ireland, look forward to ur next one..Equilizer with Denzel is dope, if u havnt seen it..

This was gritty as hell. Rough movie. God bless ya, lovely one.
22:14 😮
LuLz
Deja Vu of another underrated 🎦
Alonso's calf tattoo read: Death is certain.
Life is not.
Your reactions are priceless lol😂
Kinda of a late comment but Alonzo wasn’t pretending to be a cop. He was a cop the dinner scene was all of his higher ups. He was just corrupt. Funny when my dad was a cop in Chicago I showed him this movie and within the first 15 minutes he said that Alonzo is corrupt 😂
6:40 yoo i was in tears with your face
🤣🤣🤣
You go into this movie not knowing what to expect and the movie ends up being way more than what you bargained for. Kind of like the Marine Corps.
Mr Washington won an Oscar for this movie!
I never knew the guy who plays Sniper ("I had my shiiit PUSHED in bro!!!) Is Tuco from Breaking Bad! (Tight! Tight! Tight!) Makes sense tho 💯😂
Great reaction.🌹💯
This movie is based on a true story but in real life the cop got arrested not killed and he’s doing life
Great film Denzel was great in this movie and reaction 🔥🔥
