Ruby Hall - do you mean the SRPF hill that stretches to Ramtekdi side? That's a really nice everyday trail, but sadly an increasing amount of garbage being dumped over there, especially at the start :(
Awesome video that brought back fond memories! I’ve been to Kanifnath ages go on motorbike. Very slick shots! The drone views are fab!!! Keep it up Mr Reinhardt! ❤️❤️❤️
It is quite easy to get lost up there, but I'm so glad you did the trail and the route helped :) Please tell me more about your ride, very interested in where you got lost (my bet is at the point I tell you to "not go straight" :D) and the whole experience!
Glad you liked it Aditya! We have great trails, but I've never heard of someone coming to India for a Mountain biking holiday! Where are you right now?
@@TheIndianCyclist Yes not something common but I think there is too much opportunity to explore trails around India and I want to do just that. I'm from Singapore
I'm so glad you liked it (and got the reference :D) - if you're in Pune, this place is simply beautiful right now, was there a few weeks ago and the lake is full. Must go, even if you're just hiking (closer from the Dive ghat side)
Beautiful trail! I have been here on this trail earlier many times (not for cycling but actually for researching about the wildlife) and have actually spotted the leopard many times. The most recently in December 2020 I recall. Be careful during dawn and dusks, but indeed a beautiful route❤️
Wow - spotted many times, and so recently! I thought it was an occasional visitor over there. Did it notice you? What other wildlife can you see here? I've heard of wolves on the grasslands as well.
@@TheIndianCyclist Yes the big female with 2 cubs saw me as well many times. But mutual respect is luckily what works with these elusive predators. Both maintained a safe distance. Other than Leopards, Wolves, Hyenas, Foxes, Jackals, Chinkaras, Wild Boars were quite regular a few years back. But, now due to a rise in the number of leopards, the others have faded away.
Thanks Rohit, I already follow the grasslands trust (and now you) - wanted to do a grassland safari there but didn't manage to make that happen before our recent lockdown. Is this your team?
"due to a rise in the number of leopards"!, not quite sure how to feel about that :D Do you think a group of riders would be okay, as long as we reach there at like 7 or 8 AM? Solo probably definitely not a wise move? Any safety tips? We've only spotted Chinkara a few times, none of the other animals you mention.
Brian, Do you also have the video of the ridge ride from bopdev ghat to kanifnath temple posted somewhere? Or the GPX of that? I ventured into the kanifnath Dive route alone a few days ago and the leopard flag was up!

Hi.. Where are good trails in and around Pune for XC/ trail and gravel rides. Would be coming to Pune soon and will get my bikes to explore.. Recommendation and any opportunity to join group rides would be great..
Hey, I am from Pune (Pimpri) and starting cycling. I see some of you have road / hybrid and some have MTBs. Do you guys ride from home to trek and back on cycles or carry the cycles upto the location on motor vehicles? I am getting a Hybrid cycle with no suspension and looking to join /do these rides...
For the trails on the channel right now (like this one) - we've ridden from home; that's the benefit of having "cross" bikes like a gravel bike or a cross-hybrid as opposed to an MTB, which would make the road bits a bit harder (but of course, much better on the trail). A regular hybrid with no suspension might not be too much fun on the trail - most of the times it will work, but, not really suited to this sort of route. Let me know if you have further questions, I'll be happy to help.
Amar, we all need one! I was after the Grail CF SL 7 myself :D He purchased it abroad and brought it to India with him from France. Despite being a used bike, he had to pay a fair bit of customs duty (should not have been the case for a used bike).
@@TheIndianCyclist sure❤️, please visit my channel, i also try to make videos though I'm a starter. Even if you ever come to Bangladesh, don't forget to knock me❤️
Just did the trial, saw a deer, the trail was blocked by a wire fence and a wall at two places, had to go around, and also the exit at bopdev ghat had a gate, I slipped out from a broken wall, as for wildlife saw a deer, and I can see how leopards can thrive out there.
Thanks for the trail update! It seems like the construction project going on there has now been paused, perhaps even abandoned. I will ride it again, it's been ages, should be lovely after these short showers :)
Ashu, thank you for the kind words. We have not been doing too many group rides of late due to the current situation. Do catch up with us and the Pune community on Discord though. theindiancyclist.com/discord/

Yes, there really are a lot of trails around here, but most cyclists here aren't too interested in off-roading, unfortunately.
