Ann Wilson is the GOAT.
Whoop 🙌
I have watched this performance so many times. I get misty eyed every time especially seeing Robert Plant having tears in his eyes.
So amazing 🤩
The woman sitting behind John Paul Jones who you disparage is his wife, Maureen. They married in 1967 and have 3 daughters. At this tribute she was 45 years older than she was on their wedding day- about 66, roughly the same age as her husband and Page & Plant were. I suppose we could all make snarky comments about how much ‘better-looking’ older women, and men, were 45 years ago? Personally, I think Maureen is as beautiful as she ever was, and I’d bet you John Paul would agree. Your reaction was entertaining, Dad, but that remark was uncalled for. And it sets a bad example for your young daughter who will, herself, look very different 45 years from now. I hope when that day comes she has a life partner by her side who sees her as the dazzling lady that person fell in love with all those decades ago.
Thanks whoop 🙌
Agreed.
Well said. I love her little cameo in The Song Remains the Same. She seems like a wonderful person.
I never tire of this performance. And there's Yo Yo Ma jamming up front with Bonnie Raitt snapping her fingers and having a blast
Whoop 🙌
Just came across this and your the only one so far on all channels saw Bonnie Raitt.
Rock legends playing a song epitomized by Rock gods.
The greatest tribute that ever was.
Whoop 🙌
Apologies if this was already posted but the Kennedy Center Honors are awarded every year to a handful of exceptional artists, actors, comedians, etc. It's a national endowment for the arts and the award is similar to a lifetime achievement award. Recipients wear a rainbow sash and it's quite a prestigious honor.
Thankies 🥰
Joy it brings to people, indeed. I view this amazing performance at least once a month and I get misty every time.
An interesting side note for this performance...
Robert Plant is Jason Bonham's godfather, and had invited him to attend the Kennedy Center Honors as his guest. Jason, who had already agreed to surprise the band by playing with Heart (in fact, he is playing his father's session kit...and he also wore John's iconic bowler) outright lied to Robert, saying that he had already committed to a gig in Los Angeles that night. If you get the chance, there are other versions of this video which include Jason being introduced just before Ann & Nancy Wilson, and the look of surprised joy on Robert Plant's face is unbelievably heartwarming.
Here’s a longer version of the nights festivities. At the 13:50 mark is where they get surprised by Jason.

I can’t imagine playing Jimmy’s guitar solo in front of him 😬😁 Heart does a beautiful job ❤ Led Zeppelin is being honored at the Kennedy Center Honors. I think it’s for significant contributions to music.😊
Definitely 🥰🔥
More than just music. David Letterman is just to the left of Jimmy Page. I think it honors all the arts
Johns son went on tour with Heart . Half of the concert was all Heart , 2nd half was Led Zeppelin. It was amazing!
Whoop 🙌
So wonderful to see you introducing and educating your daughter to this great era of music. I'm 65 and have 2 daughters who are 37 and 35 and they always rib me about teaching them about the music from the 70s. At least they have good taste in music.
I have watched this performance many MANY times and each time I get chills and tear up at the precision, emotion and energy of this performance of such an iconic song. Ann and Nancy and all the supporting cast did a great honour to this song.
Wonderful!
I, too, raised my kids on this great music! My son, 36, and daughter, 38, love it. Now the grandkids are being introduced to it. Of course, my 14 year old granddaughter hates everything right now, but there's still hope she will come around when she gets out of the horrible teenage stage! LOL!
It is the medal that the Kennedy Center Honors give to those being honored. John Bonham's son, Jason is on the drums. These men family to Jason, Robert is Jason's Godfather. Watching Zep's reactions to this performance is priceless.
amazing
That was at Kennedy Honors they do this every year. Love Heart's version Ann Wilson has an amazing voice.
Whoop 🙌
The lady between JPJ and RP is none other than Carol King who helped with the original song.
Whoop
Dashy, you’re going to love discovering more of Heart’s music. Dad, please start her off with Dreamboat Annie. Such a great album👍
Can’t wait for more! 🔥
I saw Heart way back in 1977. It was the day Elvis died, August 16th, and they closed the show with Zeppelin's Rock n Roll in memory of the King.
Whoop 🙌
Rock Goddesses playing for the Rock God's and they killed it
deffo
Okay, for those of you who are not from the US: the Kennedy Center Honors are sort of the US equivalent of conferring knighthood upon an entertainer. Traditionally the President and First Lady attend, and it's essentially the nation recognizing entertainers for their lifetime achievement in the arts.
Among some of the big names in the audience with the Obamas are famous cellist Yo Yo Ma, singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt, dance legend Debbie Allen, and comedian Stephen Colbert.
Thankies 🥰
First saw Heart in 1976 in my hometown of Kelowna B.C Canada while touring with April Wine, Heart was back up band and also the sisters were young and hot!😊😅 I was 18 back then Ahhh I was so young 😅
Whoop 🙌
This is The Kennedy Center Honors. It Honors outstanding people In the arts
Definitely 🥰
Dad, take her down the classic rock rabbit hole- show her real music and musicians
He already has 🔥 🤘
I have been a HEART Fan since they released their First Album when I was a Teenager (16). I tell people that as a 16 year old Boy I don't know if I fell in ❤ with their Music or if I fell in ❤ with ❤Ann and Nancy❤. I saw them in Concert 3 times and it will be my 4th time seeing them this August 18th in Lincoln Nebraska.
Awesome 🙌
The greatest cover in music history
Definitely 🥰
I've watched this umpteen times and I'm not tired of it. Love seeing audience members like YoYo Ma and Debbie Allen getting into it, not to mention the 3 fellas from Led Zeppelin. Is it just me, or does the guy who plays the lead guitar look like Jim Parsons from Big Bang Theory?
Definitely 🔥
Dashy you are beyond your years! Very nice reaction and appreciation for the rock stars playing for the rock Gods
Thanks so much 🥰
Dashy, darling, you're adorable. But a bit of advice. Never stop a video in the middle of a guitar solo, especially one like this.
Ok thanks! 🙌🤘🙌 over excited hehe
Jimmy is "Famous" for NEver playing a song/lead, The same way, Twice. LOL Robert to Jimmy, "Aint Bad"....LMao ( The guys didnt know, Jason was gonna be there. He told them, He couldnt Make it).......LOL The GUYs have Known Ann and Nancy from the 70s. Great friends. The whole NIGHT, is Amazing. This is 1 song....
Whoop 🙌
Good cover of a classic song!!!
Whoop 🙌
Just stumbled across your channel. You two are hilarious!!😂😂Great reaction!
Thank you!! 😁 Welcome to the family 🥰
I like how Jimmy Page deliberately chose not to have any backing vocals in his 1971 recording so that 40 years later they could be added for an enhanced live vocal performance! Well planned, Jimmy!☺
Whoop 🙌
The lady in the back row is David Letterman’s wife. He was a famous talk show host here.
Whoop 🙌
Just found your channel. Good times !
Thankies 🥰
Notoriously, Robert Plant HATED anyone covering this song. He gave his blessing for Ann and Nancy to do it. They were still very nervous. If you look closely he is brought to tears. Ann and Nancy talked to him afterwards and he told them how great he thought it was. Side note: Ann and Nancy once was asked if they wanted to sleep with Zeppelin. They said no. They wants to BE them.
thanks so much for the info 🥰🙌
Robert Plant once said he hated performing this song.
Please don't stop so much. PLEASE
Reacting whoop
Oh, great cover.. 🖤 👋
Definitely 🔥
Great reaction guys! Keep em coming!
Thanks so much 🔥
The single greatest cover of any song i have ever heard in my 57 years on this rock we call earth! Ann and Nancy are rock legends playing in front of rock GOD'S!!!❤
Definitely 🔥
When the curtain goes up the choir is wearing the same hat as Jason Bonham like his dad John Bonham often wore. A nice tribute!
Whoop 🙌
Aloha granpa am a fan love the reactions enjoy your time line from an ex marine veteran era stay in good spirits and best of health fr Hawaii USA stay safe peace ciaos
Thankies
Quite stopping it everything 2 minutes. That way you can really really enjoy it. It was a Hella of a performance
Whoop 🙌
This is a longer clip. It shows the MC and other musicians doing some of their other songs. At the 13:50 part is where Jason surprises them.
ruclips.net/video/AAsUq2aIyr8/видео.html
Thankies 🥰
cool poster you have behind you
The tree of Life thankies
Overall a great reaction!
My only suggestion to not pause nearly as much. I do understand that is a reaction and it's done for copyright reasons as well.
Many times it wasn't even 30 seconds in-between pauses.
It's not just about the experience of your viewers but also yourselves.
It's hard to get the overall flow and/or emotion of a performance if it's being stopped so often.
Thanks 🙏
This was awesome. I know you did a version of The Warnings new song More three days ago but the music video came out today and it is fire! Time to wake up Dad and get the air drums and guitars out. 🔥🔥🔥⚡⚡⚡
Haha thanks so much 🔥🙌🔥
OK 0 we understand there is pressure 😎😎
Whoop 🙌
Dashy- you have a very cool dad
I do 🫂
Don't stop in middle!
62 and sick with the flu, Ann (and Nancy) bring down the house. IMO, their version is better than the original. But I've always wondered why Nancy didn't do the electric guitar part.
Whoop 🙌
Ann Wilson is a fantastic guitarist who has often played acoustic and rhythm guitar while others play lead on the electric guitar, most notably Roger Fisher of Heart. Roger was an original founder of the band and the lead on their early hits that propelled the band to fame. The arrangement of this performance is very much in Heart's style.
Drummer is Jon 's son
Yush 🥰
The ladies behind them are their wives.
Thankies 🥰
teach her well,sir
thanks so much!
has she heard the original ?
Yush the original is 🔥 🤘
Please please please never pause in the middle of a guitar solo it's sacrilege
This is an old reaction , we were learning 🤘🔥🤘 since this , haven’t done it 🎸 haha.
Never stop a video in the middle of one the best guitar solo in history, it's disrespecful.
Whoop
?
??
Grandad, get your girl a real guitar and lessons! Teach her Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Joni Mitchell, Carol king. Beatles, Credence Clearwater Revival, The Animals, Aretha Franklin and ELVIS!
Haha grandad 🤭 thanks 🙏
@@DashyXDAndDadReacts sorry, didn’t mean any harm. My mistake.
@@lisal6121 no worries 🥰
You guys are stopping the video way to much and at the most wrong times
Whoop 🙌
As a long time watcher of reaction videos , I'd suggest reducing random, multitudinous interruptions in music you're listening to. Subjectively, it breaks up the flow of the song, and I generally don't return to reacter sites where that happens. There are no original thoughts, so I'm probably not the only one who feels that way. FYI. You just interrupted a guitar solo. Bye, now.
Thanks 🙏 already explained why we have to pause the videos. It’s no fault of ours. It’s because of copyright . Also we always rewind the video so you don’t miss anything especially the solos 🎸 Take care.
We will be the first to sub to you when you start your own reaction channel and we will also expect no pauses. Which won’t last long due to copyright strikes. good luck 🤞.
You guys seriously need to quit stopping the video every 15 -20 seconds or so for nothing. It ruins the flow so much guys.
excitement sometimes gets the better of us and we have things to say in the moment . Apologies 🫂
You don’t have to stop the video every time they smile or don’t smile , it’s slightly annoying. Thanks.
No worries whoop 🙌
This particular song you stopped way too much. More than RUclips requires. You should have listened to it more consistently to appreciate it instead of talking through it especially when the curtain went up. You screwed up.
Love it 😍 we paused for reflect and in the moment we had something to say and to reduce the copyright issues. Thanks for understanding.
Dad here we got a bit carried away with this song as it was so amazing we had a lot to say and we’re
A bit too enthusiastic but that’s what music means to me and dashy their are always links to the originals
Without interrupting in the description dashy is incredible with all the
Info she puts in there thanks for your comment cheers
Stopped it WAY too many times.
Enthusiasm and feeling the moments
Boy it's distracting with you guys competing with each other like that.
Families aye 😹
Stop way too much
pausing to reflect and comment on what we’re seeing in the moment 🥰
You should not stop it so much for you would have enjoyed it better.
Loved it 🥰
Ann was 62 here and her sister was about 59..HEART as you know has alot of great songs.."Barracuda", "Magic Man","Crazy On You","Straight On" among many others from the 1970's. 1980's seen songs like "Allone" "Never" "These Dreams" "AllI Want To Do Is Make Love To You"among other songs too....HEART was inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame a year later in 2013 ...A very Great Band in their own right...
whoop
"If you were born after 1999, let me explain, they are watching rock legends- Heart- cover rock gods in front of said rock gods on a night the rock gods are being honored for their rock godliness, choosing the rock gods most famous song and they slayed it!!"
Whoop 🙌 thanks
Led Zeppelin's lead singer, Robert Plant, was brought to tears because of the drummer, Jason Bonham. Jason is the son of John Bonham, the band's original drummer and Robert's best friend, whose death in 1980 resulted in the end of the band. They had invited Jason to represent his Dad at this ceremony honoring Led Zeppelin. But Jason told them he had a scheduling conflict. The conflict turned out to be walking out on stage to surprise the band by playing the drums during the tribute. Look at how surprised and happy Robert is when they introduced Jason at the beginning. The tears came as Robert thought about his friend and was sad he could not be there. It's also very poignant to watch Jason look up toward heaven, thinking undoubtedly about his Dad, as Anne sings the word heaven in last line of the song.
Whoop 🙌
These are much better if you don't stop them every 15 seconds.
Pausing to reflect and copyright
I agree with you totally Gibson. There are parts you just should not pause at. You don’t need to pause so often.
Heart was famed for being a great Zep cover band in addition to their amazing original material.
Awesome 🤩
I believe heart was the only band that Jimmy Page supported covering their music because he loved and respected them.
62 year old Ann and sister Nancy showed the younger acts before them what Rock is.
Rock Goddesses playing for the Rock God's and they nailed it.
Whoop 🙌
Led Zeppelin are very protective of their music and who sings it So when you get a rousing ovation from them as well as the President,1st lady and all in attendance you have definately made a lifetime accomplishment.
Whoop 🙌
NO one else could have pulled this off like they did! The surviving members didn't know that Jason was going to playing in honor of his dad. Most of the performers didn't know it either.
amazing performance
During rehearsals, Dave Grohl was the drummer. He actually did perform that night as well. Before Heart did "Stairway" other artists/bands covered other Led Zepp songs.
On a side note the other guy playing acoustic guitar is Kyle Gass one half of the comedy duo tenacious d ✌️the lady behind is John Paul Jones wife
Thankies 🥰
@@DashyXDAndDadReacts you're quite welcome ✌️
Heart is notorious for covering Zeppelin songs in concert. Ann and Nancy Wilson have both said Led Zeppelin was their biggest influence. Check out their Live covers of Kashmir, Battle of Evermore and Black Dog just to name a few.
Whoop 🙌
Please don’t stop so much. Especially during guitar solo
Hi Anita dad here we have to pause due to copyright and there is a lot I was trying to explain to my daughter about the band did you notice every time it’s paused we rewind the video so you don’t miss anything and we never usually pause the solo hope this clarifies it for you thanks
Jon's son is playing the drums
Yush 🤘🖤🤘
Literally everytime I hear this song it gives me mega goosebumps and seeing them knock it out of the park makes me tear up
Whoop 🙌
I was going to say exactly this, every single time!
On youtube there's a 3-4 minute video of President Obama honoring the Led Zeppelin members at the White House. It's very funny, President Obama has a great sense of humor and great comedic timing
Awesome 🤩
Really delightful insight and interplay...HOWEVER, a little more over-talking of the video may be better rather than stoppage might keep the continuity of the song going for the viewers. I understand you need to stop for copywrite purposes, but it was a little excessive. Just my opinion.
Whoop 🙌
You actually paused the video twice during the guitar solo...you know over here In America you get arrested for doing such a thing
Oops 🙊 but we went back so you didn’t miss anything whoop 🙌
You should show her the full version. The one you saw was cut. A whole verse is missing in the middle of the song and Ann Wilson is even more stunning in it :)
Whoop 🙌
Jason is playing his Dad's Drum Kit.
Deffo
Robert Plant is Jason Bonham's Godfather. He surprised him/them by being there. He told them he couldn't make it.
So it was twice as emotional seeing him behind his Dad's kit (or replica) and wearing the same (type) Bowler hat as John "Bonzo" wore.
That's why the second choir group has them on.
Amazing thanks Rsw
I saw them perform on April 8, 1970 in Dorton Arena, Raleigh, NC. when I was 17. The best concert to this day that I ever saw. That puts them above Jimi Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Allman Brothers Band, Jethro Tull and many others. 10 years later the band broke up after the accidental death of the band's drummer, John Bonham. This tribute with Heart brought tears to by eyes. Thank you for your reaction!
Thankies 🤗 🤘
Love the dad and daughter music reactions, especially to the great classics. Always great to hear both perspectives. This has to be one of the best live "covers" of all time. Zeppelin is one of my two favorite bands (them and Pink Floyd). I honestly can't think of a better person to sing this than Anne Wilson. And Nancy is an under-rated guitarist and is a perfect person to play some of the key guitar work in this particular song. They also do a great cover of The Battle of Evermore".
Thanks so much 🥰
Like, gran homenaje a una de las mas grandes bandas de todos los tiempos
Whoop 🙌
Someone should explain the definition of continuity to these two..........Full Stop.........."Oh look he's smiling"..................Full Stop....Oh look, I think he farted. It's like the blind leading the blind.
Hahah I love that 🤪
Omg, don't stop in middle. Omg
Heart did an amazing job covering this song.
They really did 😍
Can't watch to.many stops!!!!!
Well said Dashy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 If only more kids of your generation had that mindset. Idk if its the same in the UK but here in America kids don't expand their music knowledge or listen back to the AMAZING music that was made in the past. We should appreciate and honor pur past more.
Thankies so much! 🥰🙌🥰
No idea how to say, this was the most honest reaction to hearts performance... Congrats. Heard Reactions over 200 times..
Thanks so much 🥰
The gentleman in the audience that was shown twice is world famous cellist YoYo Ma. He was certainly enjoying a different genre.
Awesome 🤩
I THINK Your dad (or grandpa) froze for the first 20-30 seconds of the song because he blacked out while having a nostalgic memory….am I off target?
Sorry, not sorry old chaps, but I have to downvote this one ... WAY too many interruptions. Got to pace yourselves.
Whoop 🙌
No one really speaks about the guitar solo in this performance. In my opinion, the musician really embodies Jimmy Page; his mannerisms really resemble his.
Amazing 🤩
Try the santana At kennedy's center honors from the year after
Whoop 🙌
So annoying all the interruptions of a very impressive performance of music history by Heart and co.
In the moment 🥰🤘🥰
👌
