Love that Marty called Jason his biggest inspiration. I think once you're touched by the magic of Jason's music and life it's hard for anything to inspire you more than that. His existence alone uplifts all who know of him and few can say they were touched by Jason to the same degree Marty has been. That love is real.
Jason Becker is and will always be a titan amongst giants. To call him a legend doesn't even begin to do him justice. He is greatness personified, and his heart and musical genius are a crowning triumph of humanity.

No one else can play that part better than Marty and of course Jason Becker from back in the day. It's always makes me sad thinking about what could've been. His legacy lives in as he is inspiring hundreds of guitarists to challenge the limit of possibilities.
Marty has expressed many times before that he hates covering and wants to make music, this is a huge compliment for Marty to do.
I really admire Marty's friendship, admiration, respect for Jason. Definitely both big great musicians!!!!!

Marty is a class act, Jason lifted the bar/chops of every future virtuoso who sat down with him ie:Greg Howe. Very happy to have been growing up during those 80’s hair band days (I’m 43), left quite an impression on all of us shredders.

Marty and Jason made some landmark albums in the 80s that remain some of the BEST shredding ever… It’s hard to imagine Jason recording the album with this song on his summer vacation before his senior year of high school. It’s not often someone so young does something so legendary.

Miss this duo … remember when I got into them in the late 80s. Sick playing. Too bad they went different ways. Still saddens me when I saw the early signs of the disease that would later take away his ability to perform live. But his heart and passion today is unstoppable. I got Cacophony albums in 1992 and listened to them all the time, as well as albums by Jason and Marty. When the reports came through of Jason's illness it was heartbreaking.
That segment of Altitudes and the Outro solo to Go Off are so subtle and yet so visceral, I still get a tingle up my spine after all these years, wonderful singing emotion
Marty is an amazing talent and just a beautiful human being. Marty is one of my favs as is Jason. I cant even imagine what Marty and Jason would have kept unleashing on our ears if Jason was able to have kept playing. Each one of them is a genius guitarist ,but together, it's just Pure Angelically Hellish Magic. God Bless them both and Thank You Marty & Jason for what youve given us musically. Philly Loves You Two

How Wonderful
Most people don't know this but one of the key factors that makes Marty's sound unique is his strange right hand. The flexed curvature is basically a modified form of the rare Gypsy Jazz style picking, which was invented to create a louder, more aggressive pick attack. He leverages a massive downward pickslant and uses circular thumb picking to get around the string change issue (for example when the pick is below the string and he needs to move to the string above). You can't reach as much consistent speed output with Gypsy style picking as you can with traditional picking but you get MUCH more power. Think of it like the difference between an AK47 and a metronome. AK47 shoots extra fast and clean in short bursts but then soon gets out of control if you keep shooting without rest, but the sound is dynamic and powerful while a metronome maintains consistent high speed, but the sound is rather weak and mechanical.
