@@jasonsidwell Hi again Jason! I finally subscribed to the magazine and purchased this issue. Wow this is difficult but I need to thank you and Marty again for your work! I have tickets to see him playing in Kyoto, can't wait!
That's great to hear! Even if you don't get the whole piece mastered I'm sure you'll get at least several great phrases from it for your own music making. Thanks for watching AshManzarek!
This is so fuckin' amazing. I literally want to cry every time I listen to Marty playing. His sense of melody and phrasing are beyond belief. His music is both sophisticated and incredibly melodic and accessible at the same time. Do I need to mention the feeling? Do I need to mention the phrasing? Literally, not ONE single "lick" was played...How is this possible??? Marty is God and I barely managed to touch his playing and phrasing the last 25 years trying....damn...
irmasil3 .. i totally agree with your sentiment about how amazing, sophisticated and his melodic lead lines and phrasing Marty Friedman is 👍! I think he is a great guitar player. He's mastered that style of guitar playing! This is just my opinion about all guitar players irmasil3 .. it's up to them to get bogged down playing the same style they want. But for me, a great musician is a versatile one. I'd like to see Marty Friedman challenge himself to see if he can play a Fingerstyle Jazz Standard ** Misty ** by JOE ROBINSON on RUclips and maybe a **Blues Shuffle in G ** by MATTEO MANCUSO and also JOSHUA MEADER .. Fusion Jazz! These are other guitar players that are also amazing in their own right and you probably already know that! Keep on Rockin' irmasil3 🎸 !
Marty will always be a mystery to me... how can you have such a weird technique, that really nobody can emulated and still being able to play at an insane level. His choice of notes is great, but it is like is doing it in nighmare mode, just to make all the rest of world look way worse then him.... I love this guy
There's a song by Carlos Santana called "Guru Song." See if you can find it somewhere and listen to it. I think he must have been one of Marty's influences, because the bending and tone are remarkably similar.
This is some super technical stuff this shows his beautiful talent the best and how years and years of musical experience ya gotta know some stuff to play like that hahaha
@@jasonsidwell dude this channel is awesome bro keep ‘em coming us as guitarists learn a lot from watching videos specifically like this I’ve increased my playing by like 10 fold learning about Marty’s process of finding your own sound I was always a dime guy but he was around to short of a time to really teach us mere mortals how to play like Kratos the god of war hahaha
Glad you like the channel Julio! It's great working with guitarists like Marty and others like Reb, Steve, Paul, Brett, Allen and Joel; we have fun doing the tracks and GT readers get a chance to see/learn stunning guitar and how they approach playing too. Marty is a tremendous musician and great to work with; his solo here is outstanding, no one is like him. Thanks for watching!
Obrigado! Hi Renato. I can't personally help you with your Guitar Techniques purchase. I don't think you will be able to swap your print magazine for a digital version but if there is a contact email on the website, you could ask them about it. Thanks!
Aproveitar! You're welcome! Yes, the entire transcription of Majestical that Marty and I did together is in the issue. Enjoy!
I wrote the song specifically for Marty to play on. Thanks for watching! Escribí la canción específicamente para que Marty la tocara. ¡Gracias por ver!
Marty talked about practice amongst many other topics in our interview for Guitar Techniques that featured alongside a transcription of our piece, Majestical. Here is a very short snippet of Marty on his technique: "If I took two or three months off, it might take a few minutes of warming up to feel normal. If one’s playing is based mainly on mechanical metronomic work, I suppose time off would create some type of temporary muscle memory problems, but I think that only affects people who are relatively new to an instrument; those who don’t do music for his or her livelihood. A pro musician is like a carpenter, or any other tradesman. They are not going to get weaker at or forget their craft after even extended time off. Conversely, a little time off makes it more enjoyable to return to playing." Thanks for watching!
I could hear a million guitarists out there and still be able recognize Marty's playing !! His unique style and sound as well!!!

His wrist on the pick hand is contracted. My forearm would be locked up after two songs.
