      Admitting to one's own mistakes definitely deserves a lot of respect. Sadly enough it gets quite rare in this age of humanity, many people in position of making a difference neglect it completely 👤

    This is why I believe pop is the best coach I'm NBA history. How often do you get a 60ish year old man who is willing to admit he needs to change his mindset. Shit, my 40 year old parents are even set in their ways. Greg pops a 🐐🐐

    • @Jry088
      @Jry088 6 лет назад +5

      Ofcourse he has his way but this wouldn't be the first time he had to make a change. He said he had trouble with Manu too, but it was when he start letting him do what Manu does that he began to flourish. It helped him to embrace that role coming off the bench.

    • @votix10
      @votix10 6 лет назад +3

      Jerry Huang right. And that can be tough for a successful old coach to think his way is best. Look at Phil jackson, still stuck in the triangle when it's clearly outdated.

    • @panner11
      @panner11 6 лет назад +3

      I think people bring up the triangle offense too much. The only real issue was that Phil was trying to be the coach when that wasn't his job.

    Coach Pop is an all time great coach. Maybe even the GOAT. His ability to adapt and make use of limited talent is unmatched. Aldridge has been really underwhelming as a Spur, but Pop still manages to figure out how to get the spurs on track to win 55+ games

      I would take KD to. Probably the best 2 way player. An offensive juggernaut and willing to learn and get better. Kawhi and KD would be a monster. He isn't ready to let TP go yet either and KD is the most relevant when it comes to switching teams.

    • @f.lashby8298
      @f.lashby8298 6 лет назад +3

      J-Strokes KD is almost on par with Kawhi as a two way player but I still give Kawhi the defensive edge. Kevin is the best offensive package since Kobe Bryant. He has got everything, he can drive trough, he can pull up from three, midrange, turnaround jumpers, whatever this dude does it all on the offensive end of the floor. Him and Kawhi on a team would be an instant killer for everybody. Both are willing to share the ball and can play off ball at such a great level. It would totally fit the Spurs system.

    I don't think the sudden improvement of LA is much to do with Pop to be honest, I think LA is just getting more shots and he is a number 1 option right now like he was in Portland because Kawhi is out otherwise he would be having the same type of season he had in the past 2 years but it's still really impressive that Pop, an all time great coach, is so willing to adapt

    This is what makes Pop the GOAT coach in my eyes. He adapts to his players and changes his system accordingly to his players and to the era. Not like Phil Jackson, who needed a very specific set of players to make his meme system work.
    Pop has adapted from a 4/5-centric defensive minded team, to using his guards, to strong pick and roll, to 3 point shooting, to using a forward to run his offense.

  • @MichaelP-ke1tm
    @MichaelP-ke1tm 6 лет назад +2

    The Spurs have literally had bums this season besides Aldridge and yet they're number 3 in the West which is just fucking ridiculous.
    Kawhi has played like 3 games.
    Tony Parker has barely played.
    Danny Green has barely played but they still keep winning with a bunch of scrubs.
    Shows how good of a coach Pop is. Imagine if Pop had the Cavs roster and think what he would do with them.

    Pops is the greatest coach of all time. His teams have maintained a top 4 seed in the toughest conference of his time, most wins over his coaching career than any other coach, 5 Finals wins. Has COTY awards. It looks to me that Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Ginobili, Bowen, and Kawhi benefitted more from Pops, whereas Phil Jackson benefitted more from having MJ, Pippen, Rodman, Grant, Kerr, Armstrong, Kukoc, Shaq, Kobe, Gasol, Odom, etc.

    It should not have taken a Coach 2 years to figure out why LaMarcus was not playing well.
    Pat Riley figured things out during a game with Magic and Kareem. Riley did not wait 2 years to put Magic at Center to win a Championship in his rookie year. Pop was too focused on having LaMarcus fit the style of Kawai. In Portland, LaMarcus had game.

    If only corporations in the United States would act like how can we make this job better for you, since you are making us rich, so that not only you can get some more money, but our company can flourish. Pop is one of the greatest coaches in the NBA.

    Byron Scott talking bout adapting as a coach meanwhile his coaching has been outdated for years, if you want your team to suck and tank.. hire him.

    So, coach Pop admits he wasted 2 years of having Aldrige on the team by doing the wrong thing and never figuring it out on his own and they praise him as if the exact opposite was the case? FFS.

    At least Byron Scott knows that he's not a great coach. That last stint with the Lakers was painful to watch. He over coached, threw his players under the bus and never listened or ever had a discussion with his players.

    Pop probably knew that the team was not gonna do well in 2016 with the injuries. If Aldridge's stats exploded, he was gonna ask for a big contract. So he intentionally placed Aldridge in positions he didn't like, and he did awful. And then they had that deep conversation to convince him to sign that contract extension cheap.
