    • @juliocastaneda5940
      @juliocastaneda5940 2 года назад

      @Rorschach 0007 the streak for winning seasons ended at 22 seasons which is the longest by any team where they went 32-39 ending the 2019-2020 season. The Spurs also own the longest streak with 50 wins or more in 18 straight seasons which ended in the 2016-2017 season

    • @juliocastaneda5940
      @juliocastaneda5940 2 года назад +1

      @Rorschach 0007 possibly yes, but in hindsight maybe it was good he did part from San Antonio, to basically force San Antonio to have to rebuild, eventually. Given his injury history now, it wasn't guaranteed our streak would have continued. Even so, as a Spurs fan, I don't fault them, nor do I fault Kawhi on his decision to go to California, that was his plan ultimately and I can't fault him for that, he did bring us the last title with the Spurs and he is a two time champion. That being said, these two records are going to be very hard to beat let alone the fact to win 50 games 18 years in a row with a strike in that streak and even then they managed 50 wins in 66 games. I doubt that streak will be broken. The 22 season streak of just posting a winning season I think is the easier of the two streaks that is attainable because all you need is to only hit 41 wins in a normal season or at least .500 in strike related seasons. Either way,those two streaks just show the excellence this franchise sustained itself over those two decades plus. Just think for a second, not even the great teams like Bostons 60s run or the 17 titles LA has, nor the Jordan led Bulls have had a 20 season stretch of winning. The team we actually beat to obtain the longest stretch of winning seasons in a row came from the Jazz believe it or not during the Malone/Stockton ran team that went either 19 or 20 seasons straight without a losing season. So it does go to show just how good the Spurs were in relation to the history of the NBA. To put in perspective, the Spurs are the only team ATM in the league to have a record of .500 or better to all 29 teams currently they have played against. Historically, the Spurs have been a good franchise in terms of wins and losses, even though they may only have five titles they do have a good history in their soon to be 50th anniversary of joining the NBA.

    Popovich exemplifies exactly what being a “coach” means. I’ll go further. Pop greatest NBA coach ever - Auerbach? Please - his team had multiple hall of famers and the league had about 1/2 to 2/3rds the teams. Phil Jackson? Please, yes Popovich has had stars and future hall of famers - but never really a “super team”. Phil could only win with multiple superstars in their prime. Even in defeat he shows absolute class. I’m a huge Lebron fan - I’ll never forget when LBJ and the Heat beat the Spurs in a hard fought tight 7 game series in the 2013 finals.
    The respect and character he showed in congratulating - not merely shaking hands - but embracing and being genuinely happy for Lebron and D Wade, among others was unbelievable. It wasn’t fake - as nothing is with Pop. Of course he was distraught st his team losing. But knowing and respecting LBJ, Wade etc he literally showed more excitement than when he got payback in winning in 2014.
    No coach gets more out of his players and truly incorporates and executed s systems and doesn’t just coach but builds a team whatever the roster is.

    • @broadstreet21
      @broadstreet21 3 года назад

      Auerbach's players were Hall of Famers because of Auerbach himself. He coached them to greatness, and faced other teams stacked with talent.

      Besides, Poppovich did have a "superteam." All of his championships were won with at least two or three superstars, once he had four. But he was responsible for developing them, just as Auerbach developed his.
      Jackson wasn't as much of a developer. But coaching his stars was not easy.
