I really loved the character of king Viserys Targaryen, especially that he's very kind and decent as well, and I think that unlikely to have a king with such qualities in the world of Game of Thrones or the song of ice and fire. Visery has been hands down my favorite so far. Paddy Considine has been amazing. A lot of people give Viserys crap for being weak or a coward. Sure he's a bit weak willed perhaps because a lack of confidence. But at the end of the day he's a good man. To steal a line from The Black Panther "It's hard for a good man to be King." That fits this viserys well I think.
Well said: and if i have to say, i'd prefer a weak man like him as king over some like Maegor the Cruel, Daeron the one who believed himself a dragon or Aerys II the Mad King.
Viserys did what he thought was right for keeping the peace and the stability of the realm. "Heavy is the burden of the Crown": Viserys embodied this saying tragically perfectly.
He’s made the worse decisions I’m the series, he cause the civil war.
My favorite character in the series. Oh Viserys, you didn't deserve all this grief...

I love the way they portray Viserys in this series. Not as a one-dimensional comic relief character or a "god amongst men"-type, but as a father, brother and husband who just happens to be born king and who clearly struggles under this enormous duty that has been laid upon him and the choices he has to make. People are quick to judge monarchs as bad kings for making the "false" decisions when its a job designed for a select few individuals born maybe once or twice a century, an impossible task for 99% of men. It also shows why absolute monarchy only truly works when one of said select few 1% of individuals happens to be born king.
