Paddy Considine did such an incredible job portraying Viserys. I swear, if this dude doesn't win an Emmy I'm gonna be mad, it is 1000x deserved with this show

He isn't even mentioned in the Emmys, just a big Succession Circlejerk, they're even proud of that, if Emmys were serious Paddy would've gotten a nom, by my taste an Emmy, but I guess they will sell it to HBO's last grand piece, I hope Odenkirk beats them, nasty establishment.

His character was a mix between Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon. Like Ned, Viserys truly loved his family and wanted to see them united. Like Robert, Viserys was flawed as a king, but he sought balance and his death would only bring war and destruction. Paddy Considine is a great actor.
He was more like Ned. Robert absolutely did not attend to his duties.
@@CLYDE0126 he never did, first half of his rule he was drinking and whoring then the greyjoys rebeled. 2nd half of his rule he was again drinking and whoring, then another conflict arose and this time it took his life.

Robert is not a good example, he was the reason his kingdom went into debt and he clearly didnt get a shit about what happened. Jon arryn was the only reason his kingdom survived.
@@Mr_Episode where does it say that Robert was a good king? only that he kept a certain peace and when he died, destruction came. And honestly, Robert wasn't the best king, but those who came after weren't either.All the options to rule were terrible: Joffrey was a sadist, Thomen was manipulable, Stannis was a religious fanatic, Renly was also manipulable, Cersei had no skills, knowledge or desire to rule. And Daenerys was ultimately portrayed as psychotic. All hands were better options: Tywin, Tyrion, Davos, the Tyrells...
The pain he had been through was unbearable...and yet he did bear it and kept the peace of the realm.

King Viserys wanted peace above all. Like Jaehaerys before him. He was not the best king but he held the peace throughout the realm. Paddy was absolutely amazing and that man better with awards for his portrayal as King Viserys.

Viserys was what Ned stark was to Game of Thrones.
I understand what you mean, they were both good people. But Ned was also a warrior where Viserys was not. He was firm in keeping his subjects in line.

I wonder if years from now, as the realm burns around them and their power is broken in a way that will never truly heal, will any of them wonder what could have been if they'd listened to the old man's final plea and let go of their hatreds.
A great video on the life of a great character. He was too much a good man to be a great king, but when you compare what would follow him, he really doesn't hold up too badly.
Rest now Viserys Targaryan, you carried the burden of your duty as long as you could and it is best you see nothing of what is to come, for it would break your heart.

And im crying again. Damn, such a good performance from Paddy. Viserys had all his faults but I loved him.
After the way GOT ended some like it, others did not. I'm one of the latter. I had no faith in HOTD. Thought it do be a just a money grab by HBO trying to milk a dead cow. OH how I was wrong. Paddy's performance of Viserys was one the first things that drew me in. The acting has been excellent all around but I think its Paddy's acting that will go down as the best of series. The talent to bring to life such a complex character is simply amazing. Viserys is a bit weak willed but not a coward or a cry baby. Just a good man try to do his best. To play such a character and not come off as "annoying" or "boring" is a true testament to his talent.
Daemon finally show his brother's strength.... Even in his final hours he stood up for his daughter... And the most important thing i believe is when Daemon 's wife died in birth (kinda). He understood the difficult choice viserys had to make a choice which daemon did not.
A dragon, cornered, forced to fight or die, will choose fight to the very end.
Viserys didn't fight a war, didn't have to fight for his throne, nor his life was in constant danger from outside. His fight was internal, within his own family. He only wanted for his family to be united against what lies beyond the Wall.
It wasn't leprosy that killed him, nor the Iron Throne. It was the prophecy, the weight of the duty as a dragon, as a king, as a Targaryen.
May his soul rest forever in peace.
