Why is Dr. Andonuts Rage more serious-sounding than Megalovania
"Megalomania": a delusional mental illness that is marked by feelings of personal omnipotence and grandeur.
Transylvania: the city of monsters.
The title "Megalovania" is about Dr. Andonuts considering himself a failure and a monster. He's so strong only because he's in his own mind. He's weak.
"Dr. Andonuts' Rage" is about him having fucking had it. He has lost his remaining sanity, and he's now without any limits, without any boundaries.
Burning people to a crisp? No problem.
Subjecting people to the terrors of absolute zero? Easy.
Using the greatest psychic attack? Just gimme 3 turns.
I think that this is why "Dr. Andonuts' Rage" is a more intimidating and serious-sounding name.

well, it is megalovania. however, the awnser is undertale's megalovania and Dr. Andonuts' Rage are in a different key.
He build-up, different key, more slow and intimidating composition, and perhaps even the instruments all help it feel more serious than the -Ness- Sans version

It sounds good, but I prefer the compressed version. I think that the compression usually makes SNES songs sound better.
It's The Case With N64 And DS Music Too. when it's uncompressed it sounds like some crappy ps5 game.
EarthBound’s music was made with the compression in mind, so they likely knew what to do for a good chiptune song

If you download a modded rom, it's most likely to come as a zip file, which contains the patch files and the game rom (Usually a .nes, .sfc, etc. It depends on the console it's for.) Inside the patch folder, you'll find all the modded textures and sounds, including music. From there you can unzip a compressed sound file and access the original sample of the sounds.

Edit: I was wrong. The reason why this lags is because they restored it with the in-game lag. Search "Radiation's Halloween Hack OST - Megalovania" on YT to find a rip that comes from Toby's ROM. Yes! He did make that semi-official release he mentioned. It doesn't have the in-game lag.

Imagine an earthbound animated series. Where in one of the episodes a star man tries to destroy Andonuts mind to prevent the creation of the Time Machine. As he travels through Andonuts psyche it leads to the core where there’s a final defense mechanism, his rage manifested as the music kicks in and starts demolishing the star man dragon ball style.

@@Averagebasementman I've never seen the connection before, but anyways, it's called the Phase Distorter, not the Time Machine- and nothing in the Halloween Hack is even near canon. And he wouldn't be nearly as angry since all his anger in the Halloween hack is both for himself and because he couldn't save the kids, so he went down a depressive spiral.
@@TeamGalactic-Cyrus 1st the phase distorter is supposed to a Time Machine the name ultimately doesn’t matter, 2nd Im well aware that the hack is in no way cannon to earthbound, 3rd theres nothing in the hack that implies Andonut’s didn’t have a dark side of himself. There’s next to no info on what his life was like before Jeff, so that leaves the door open for potential trauma. Not to mention the fact that the hack shows other flaws, insecurities, and fears of the doctor. His failure to have a good relationship with Jeff, his insecurities about his physique are all examples of stuff that can lead to rage. Lastly that rage wouldn’t have come out had Varik not gone inside the grieving doctor’s head to kill him. Picking him apart until his rage was all that was left. The concept I’m proposing takes creative liberties so that this fight can happen in some form. A little fan service to those who know the origin of megalovania.
@@Averagebasementman It is supposed to be a time machine, which is a generic sci-fi object, you do not capitalize it. There are also other time machines in the series that are never named, so it is better to reserve the name for them.
There is a Halloween Hack Writeup that Toby Fox made. I know that the hack shows other insecurities, I am just saying that I'm sure he was not this insane to have this part of him show before the Chosen Four went to fight Giygas. I have a lot of knowledge on the Earthbound games, as they are my favorite games.
In a series like this, I would much prefer if it went in a creative direction inspired by the hack and not a copy of the hack with a Starman.
I would much rather him be taken hostage, possibly for information. They try to force him to give the information, tormenting him with his own memories.
The Halloween Hack has lots of swearing, writing issues, and tone whiplash. It is certainly not a perfect hack, though one with good ideas. If you want to see more of the good ideas, read the Halloween Hack writeup which gives more information about the enemies and backstory.
For example, part of the reason he doesn't connect with Jeff, is because it reminds him of Jeff's mom, whom he killed in a state of worry. Another example is the NO, NO, and NO enemies, which is representative of Dr. Andonuts being gay, and hating himself about that.
There is a lot of backstory in the write up, so I would recommend to everyone that likes the hack to read it. There is an archive of it in archive.is/67gZR .
