The point of going high resolution like that is so you can drop footage on a timeline or output with a lower resolution and retain quality. Most of the broadcast world still works on 1080p believe or not and yet they generally shoot 2-4k and down sample for the output. Also remember that these are also not true 8k and 4k, they are heavily sampled and compressed. If these shot in 4k in the same format as say an arri alexa or red - most peoples computers would sieze up just trying to edit the damned things.
I would like to see how durable those lens guards are? Since people mount them onto motorcycles and cars, i wonder how they would fair falling off a motor vechile and sliding down a road. Will the protectors work or fail against road rash.
What do you think it will come out of this haha if camera dismounts/stick fails you can just pray to ever find the camera. Guards are there for hikers, mountain bikers etc where you might slip or crash and not scratch the camera completely. I had a huge crash on Madeira and I can tell you that old X3 guards handled it very well, I can for sure say, that lens would be gone if no guards were mounted ~ they work pretty damn well!
Great video. I'm really hesitant in buying the Insta 360 but I am afraid that my PC is a little outdated to edit the 8K footage in Adobe Premiere Pro. What PC minimum requirements do you recommend? Currently I have Intel Core i7 9750H, 16GB RAM and GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
Perhaps the ghost ring was the standard lens reflecting off the premium lens cover? I'm curious what solutions could be made about that. Is the standard lens removable? Very detailed review and helped show a few different perspectives, thank you.
Can you do a side by side of the 1-inch and the X4. That is where I am sitting right now -- still leaning 1-inch for the low light - but open for honest opinions.
For audio, I'm only ever going to use the cameras microphone just to give me enough audio to be able to sync up the video to the audio that I recorded separately.
That ring was 100% a reflection off of the lens cover, you were seeing the actual lens being reflected back at itself. That would be more of an issue if you're shooting in an environment with strong light at your back, especially if harsher light made it more obvious
It's interesting that you don't have time to color grade, but you do have time to reframe. I have the One RS Twin Addition and the Hero 11. I love 360, but try to use it sparingly because reframing is a pain. The GoPro just has a faster workflow BTW, I took a cruise and spent a few days in the Florida Keys, back in February. The One RS came in clutch. One of my family members had an old GoPro die, so I lent them mine. I used the One RS almost exclusively and it was super nice. I kept whatever mod I wasn't using in my pocket and just changed them out as needed. It was a fun camera to use. I came back loving that camera more than when I left. I hope they do some sort of update that combines the X4 and the Ace Pro. I would pay $800 for that all in one solution
The big test really would be the older insta360 one inch 360 mod. The x4 is sort of an in betweener it appears due to the cost bump. I have the bigger one and cant tell if the x4 is worth it or if the bigger one will also become 8k later or if insta has killed the one rs line totally or doesnt want to do a prosumer 8k 360 camera. I assume one rs line is dead, which is good because it sucked at "waterproof". There should be a one inch sensor 360 camera in the world tho, so I really wonder. Seeing this compare would be big.
I'm def watching the X4 for real world user reviews. I have an X2 and a Gopro 11, would like to upgrade the X2 to the X4, but i will have the same concerns with the X4 as I currently do with the X2. Will the mounting screw break off and ruin the camera if I mount it on a dirt bike, is the waterproofing more reliable, how good is the resolution / image quality compared to a gopro in 4k? and what are the timelapse & video modes that it can do? Star trails, night lapse, etc. All things i want to see from users before I jump in. But I'm very very tempted!!!!! (BTW, I still love my X2!)
