It's the whole reason people are always raging in anniversaries. The game in itself is not different from any other rpg like wow, and the only reason someone could feel pressured to not leave is the thought of having wasting time. Then again, genshin is not even a generous game, you don't start with a free 5* and they don't even give you a multi as a greetings for trying the game.

lol, I didn't quit the game, just joined a private server instead. Now I just play the story quest and stop playing the game after finishing it to play in private server.
@ObiAlmighty see it's like people forget all these games are the same money grabs that's there point the difference genshin you do not at any point actually need to pull on a banner to make a team the free characters + the standard banner pulls will always guarantee you a team. HSR is different especially as f2p or casual pretty much someone with limited time to play there are characters that are a must pull because you will get stuck the later you move on the main story gets it gets harder and harder for weaker teams the end game requires specific characters built. what i'm trying to say is in reality only in1 of these 3 games is money getting spent on it because it's required and that is HSR. genshin and WUWA you spend if you want it's not needed.

Unrelated to the video but the shit about college is a little frustrating. This world is not black and white, we don’t live in a merit based society. If you’re good at something, you can absolutely still fail in your career because of factors outside of your control or because of personality traits unrelated to your skill in the field.
He didn't really take into account the size of a given job market or whether it is expanding or contracting.
They also didn't take into consideration people who live in countries where college is only the way out of poverty. It's the only way to be taken seriously

he said he did college 8 years and didnt get a job, you still need to put effort into job searching and networking, the degree just ensures you are at the starting line and also gives many valuable opportunities to form these connections you otherwise wouldnt have in the job. I havent watched tectone for a long time only since the start of wuwa but from my very very basic impression of him I would bet that he didn't put a whole lot of effort into job searching or networking and assumed the degree would guarantee him a job. Obviously I don't know if this is the case but if he gives off this type of impression then it can't be good whether or not he put effort into the things I previously mentioned
His college take is woefully wrong. It's understandable that if you got skill for certain jobs you don't really need a degree but a lot of jobs even if you have the skills for it require a degree to practice it legally.
After quiting for almost a year, i heard they recently added a new endgame called imaginarium theater. I re-installed genshin yesterday and gave it a try since everyone says it needs a lot of characters and it's kinda hard. I cleared it in like 7 minutes (i'm not even a whale) and then uninstalled the game immediately... Can't believe i wasted my time thinking hoyo would actually drop a hard endgame content...

The game's combat mechanics are way to basic for them to add any real meaningful difficulty tbh

I feel he missed one major factor: The prospects of the future. Even if a game has a "dead patch", you know a new patch will come soon. You want to be prepared to get all the "good stuff" in that next patch, so you push through the patch. This will happen on repeat whether it is a dead patch or you just exhaust what a patch has to offer, either way you push through dead periods on the hope for the next new content drop. Drip feeding players with content is also a major phycological method used for player retention which is parallel yet opposite the F.O.M.O.
It has an older story to it.
In earlier mmorpg, we all realized how hard is to keep up with the pace of the game if you didn't aggressively farm.
It's both FOMO and keeping with the novelty of things. People don't want anything but be day 1 players, having all stuff, etc. These games have made us into completionists.
get ready HSR is about to have dead patches. i can't imagine how returning to loufa is gonna be any good that was the worst story by far jing yun, march 7 and dang heng the main characters of that map pretty much burying everyone else in the story.

It has no button for parry (thats been done way better in the past ) the dodge has 2 second window and it doesnt innovate in any way idk wtf people see in this gameplay to think its the game of the century or even decade at that

i finally dropped genshin last month. it feels weird to drop a routine but it literally just became a chore and boring events for most of the time.
the only thing i like is the archon quest and lore but hey, good thing we got lore CCs to do that (waiting for capitano in natlan cutscene tho)

That's not it, that's why it's better to start meddling in your profession related groups, ask for teachers and deans advices, look for practices or volunteering jobs, etc.
They don't simple take 10 randomly, you need to be competitive in a very capitalistic world.

I’m currently a bio major and despite having 836273623432 graduates in my class, I can stand out a little bit via getting to know the professors, and because I’m doing research with the head of the biological department. My next step is finding an internship or job related to what I want to pursue career wise. These are a few things I realized my classmates do not bother pursuing. They graduate with their degree, hope to get a job with the piece of paper alone, and then fall into a regular blue-collar job because they did not bother to obtain any experience when they were doing their degrees. It's definitely easier said than done, but always possible when you actually TRY.

I have a degree and I’ve never once worked a job in my field. College was pitched to me as a kid as the only viable way to achieve a moderate-high sustainable income. For anyone ambiguous about pursuing college, I highly recommend you look into certifications in your desired field instead and build a strong portfolio.

It depends. You start your career 2 or more years before getting your degree.
It's just nobody tells you can't just look for a job after getting a degree.
Certs are fine, but they expire or become obsolete, and while they work in small jobs, if you want to expand your scope then you'll have to invest a huge amount of money only in certificates and their updates.
College is a huge investment but not for you, but your parents in most of cases. However note that employers want people that have proven working hours and not just random snoobish graduated guys that can't fit in a team nor have a good set of communication skills. That's why you need to try working for practices so you can add that experience to your resume. Volunteering jobs also work well. And having contacts, other classmates, teachers, etc could potentially make you get an offer.
sometimes I feel sad cause I thought I wasted 5years of college just to be a truck driver. but then I meet my college buddies and they just want to quit their job and go to the woods and live there. so yeah.. living sucks. the truck pays good tho 😅

True. The lore and music is some of the best in gaming history. Been playing since 1.0 without spending money, and my love for the game is the same as it's always been. Some people just don't understand that different people play games for different reasons.
....That's quite a narrow minded approach to a personal viewpoint on college...but I wasn't surprised to hear it, given that John's life growing up was chaotic and he didn't really get to experience the actual benefits, or even purpose, of an education.

Well tectonic has always been a casual in general terms, it's understandable he can't afford time to see all fate series and read the long ass texts of fgo.
All in all, lm more surprised by Asmongold or Maximilian Dood that actually take their time to read and immerse themselves in deep lore of many games.

The problem is: some gachas make their story unnecessarily long than they need to like hsr 2.2 that shit was waaaaaay longer than it needed to, and there are multiple examples, gacha gamas have a problem and is that they don't follow the most basic thing you need to do in order to get people interest and that is: "don't tell, show", that's why people would rather watch an anime or a movie than read a book.
PGRs 10/10 story blew my mind, picked both WuWa and PGR at the same time and holy hell I'm so satisfied with my current gacha lineup.

@@jjjj2260 I wish I am but I'm genuinely having fun. I played since launch. I thought I don't like open world, but the exploration is astronomical, there's no feeling of hindrance even on mountains I don't need to think if I should climb it or not it's just seamless.

I just want to make the statement, that if you have a chance, realistically, to get every THIRD 5star char, or every second or every 5th, there's not much difference in how predatory it is
if you give someone less chance, I could argue that it's even less predatory because they will not think that they're missing out because they will settle knowing that they just can't get most and be happy with that
they give you several 5star weapons at the start and then every 3rd or so

I like to use "late game" rather then "end game". It casts a wider net instead of trying to by hyper specific.
End game has always have the meaning of "content after completing the pervious stages". It never referred to content that is challenging /innovative.

what teccy mentioned about premium chars going to standard, both PGR and Tof do this, albeit a bit differently. PGR does it after the banner goes away, and tof allows for a certain amount of reruns before they are added to standard (though by then a lot of them are heavily powercrept so... its mostly beneficial for newer players to not have to use the oldest standards that are mostly useless now and people that want the skin when you get the unit to the 3rd refinement

That’s not true it depends what kind of degree you have. Most of these RUclipsrs and streamers have a related skill to broadcasting or business or computer science by attending college but they don’t admit cause when is the first time they ever tell you the truth. So yes a degree on a particular field will actually help editing a video or making business decisions. That’s why after they go big they hire editors and company managers who have degrees in their respective fields. Yes some of them don’t have degree but with a degree it certainly helps.

Boys, I have officially deleted genshin yesterday after months of playing. Still keeping Wuwa because I can respect devs who actually listen to feedbacks tho.
They are fixing issues they themselves introduced. Like the test stage seems either corrupt or they just release it so people complain and they fix it, something you'll never see in genshin.
Now, I wonder how much are they slaving people away just to keep up with unplanned schedules and trying to copy everything from HSR and genshin, and probably zzz soon.
As someone who is playing genshit still since launch....you made the right decision. The game is exteemely booring and tedious.
Since they added the "can fight weekly boss without unlocking it through story" I haven't touched the story.
The only good part about genshit is character design and even that got booring so I basically only play for mods because the modding community actually makes the game look pretty xD.

Really ignorant degree take tbh. The job market is just really bad right now...especially in tech. I have classmates that have jobs in my degree field because they either knew someone or had the time and ability to take unpaid to low paying internships while I did not--mind you, only one of said classmates actually knew what they were doing while we were in school. Myself and him tended to hard carry every project we were part of and tended to be the ones others went to for questions or help about assignments and material. In the two years since graduating, I haven't received a single interview or even acknowledgement from the places I've applied to...and despite the aforementioned good classmate now having two years of experience in the field (started with internship), he's having the exact same issues while trying to find a new employer.
It's not understating the purpose of doing things.
You go to college to get a job, that's it. This is nor a secret, but it's very important to have good social skills bc in the end that's what matters the most 99% of the time.
Befriend teachers, classmates, secretaries etc. Anyone is a potential lifesaver when it comes to getting a job bc there are some that you only apply as a referral.
While I studied telecom engineering I took a part job in a computer store, made many friends and even the boss told me there was a job available in one of his friend's business, what I needed etc.
There are brokers, and you can also try applying for overseas. Sometimes you need to go to companies with your resume and give them in person, even if they don't ask for applicants, etc.

For people who doesn't know, there was a post in gachgaming subreddit saying that they started recruiting for Genshin Impact 2 development? If that's true, it's actually a scary thought because we know what's gonna happen to the 1st game if GI2 comes out. One reason why we shouldn't whale too much on a liveservice game.
I mean if it's around a 4-6 year development time that would make sense as by that point genshin will be basically done. But yah if it's successful it's a scary thought imagine if gatcha games get as bad as FIFA.

I'm truly in the 20% although I will probably quit once I get the new dendro mommy next patch. I don't want to play a region that's likely to get sabotaged because of its "inferior race" (according to mhy apparently) population, in a game that's already been sabotaged by the brainrotted community and lack of care for the playerbase
Here's my answer. I like traveling to see new places, but it is difficult to do that consistently IRL due to financial constraints. Genshin Impact is fundamentally a travelogue game. It is about seeing and exploring a new world. When new regions come out, I play and enjoy the game. When I finish playing the new regions, tend to do some resource grinding for a few weeks, level up any of the new characters that I have acquired. Then, I put the game aside for 4-6 months (possibly not even doing any daily content during that time) and wait for them to add a bunch of new content, at which point I come back to it and have several weeks worth of new world exploration content to enjoy.
It baffles me that so many people are still so god damn salty about the fact that the game isn't what they wanted it to be when it has been extremely obvious what sort of game they were making for literally 3 fucking years now. Tectone and all of you other brainrot dickheads just cannot wrap your head around the idea that maybe the game can be good for a completely different reason than what you think it needs to be. You are so god damn up your own asses about the fact that it "isn't challenging" and "doesn't have any endgame content" that you can't just appreciate it for what it is.
FWIW, I spent much of the first year of Genshin frustrated about the lack of challenge and frustrated about the lack of endgame content, so much so that I quit the game around Patch 1.3. I came back to it for Patch 2.0, enjoyed the new areas, played for a while, checked back in for 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and some of 2.4. Then, I dropped the game again until 3.0. I played 3.0 for a while, until around 3.3 - 3.4, then I dropped the game again. I got busy playing other games. Then I came back to the game during 4.6. Now, I've completed basically all the content that is there. And want to know what is happening now? I'm likely to quit the game again until 5.0. I stopped being angry about the things that the game isn't, and simply enjoy the game for what it actually does well.
The hilarious thing is that one of the recent times that Tectone actually logged into Genshin and was running around in Chenyu Vale, he said "Oh, this area looks cool" literally 6 times in less than 10 minutes, but then proceded to shit all over the game to play towards chat's rabid hatred of the game, rather than just engaging with the game at face value, which is that it wants you to just enjoy the simple pleasure of adventuring in a cool world. I think that certain criticisms about the storytelling, Paimon, etc, are valid and I think that it is perfectly reasonable to have that stuff turn you off from wanting to engage with the other content, especially given that you cannot skip most of the cutscenes. But complaining about the "endgame" or "challenge" is just peak idiocy because they simply are not making that sort of game and never have been. Fixating on that issue for more than 3 fucking years is just mentally deranged.

@@goodiepie4234 The problem with genshin is that the casual vocal minority is big enough to actually represent the general casual mindset. There's way too many people (look at the monthly number of players, heck even daily, it's insane, it overcomes most of the popular MMOs afaik lol) genuinely thinking that Genshin is a masterpiece and they will probably blindly stick to it until the story is over or it shuts down. Their lives are filled with Genshin-related content and they can't see the world outside Genshin glasses.
Aside from that, yeah I don't think most other gachas have this particular problem outside of the minority

Frankly i still play it cause its still fun for me.
But mind you i dont have much free time,i got a 9-10 hour workday 5-7 times a week so even with the limited content genshin has most of the time its enough for me.
And if its not enough well i got hsr and perhaps zzz to play aswell depending on how fun i find zzz.

Tectone is a perfect textbook definition of a what a narcissist truly is and what they are capable of. They crave drama and if there is no drama, they will incite drama so they can be the saviour at the end of it or to have their boredom satiated. They will also try to play the victim sometimes when they never were one in the first place. An example of this is the zzz collab with capcom drama that he incited even though there was no reason for it in the first place. Furthermore, this is also another reason why he keeps coming back to Genshin Impact and will probably never stop talking about it even if the game ends. He will probably keep doing this with every gacha game that comes out because for some reason, its very easy to cause drama in the gacha space

I play Genshin because I like the game. It's not that deep. I've played a lot of gacha games. I don't play most of them now because simply having a gacha won't keep me. Also it's ironic that Tectone ranted about how bad gacha stories are right after FGO was on screen, which legitimately actually has an incredibly good story and is the main reason anyone would playu that game.
this is why we love hsr as it respects your time and as a free to play i can clear all content without ever spending money, i only have to log in for 30 seconds each week to claim all the free gems and i have enough to pull for every 5 star
After I picked up WuWa and PGR I pretty much dropped all my auto battlers like HSR. While Penacony was pretty good. Ngl... The story felt way too drawn out and didn't hit me that hard. Meanwhile PGR now just keep peaking each new chapter I read.

Sometimes Tectone you just speak out insanely wrong takes... its not as easy as 'just get a job'. There are people who have the skill but the system works against them as there are no jobs. Not everyone is as lucky and priviledged

To anyone thinking college is a scam, let me tell you from personal experience. IT HEAVILY DEPENDS WHERE YOU GO. If you go to a top school, such as around top 20 or 30 AND you are following a challenging path, SUCH AS ENGINEERING, you are basically guaranteed to get a good job. It all depends on your work ethic and if you are willing to put in the time and sacrifice to make sure you have a good future. It all comes down to this:
1) Get into a good school (top 20-30)
2) Follow a challenging degree (such as engineering)
3) Do everything in your power to advance as far as you can in that degree
4) Make sure you get a good internship
With these steps you are basically guaranteed a good job. If you are following a random ass path such as acting or some other bullshit, well yeah you aren't going to get a good job because anyone can act. Its the mentally challenging paths that take a lot of effort that will get you a good job out of University.

This video once again reminded me why I still play FGO even with all it's problems and things it could become but it didn't.
- Thanks to FGA even daily login doesn't take any time. Optimal spending AP isn't a big deal for ages, especially with blue apples.
- FGO doesn't make me spend "only 5/15/25$ " every month, it doesn't create "light-spender" class, which is much easier evolve to high-spenders.
- FGO doesn't make me spend money - its pity is insanely expensive, its a bad deal. If you spend money on FGO you are complitely aware that its a throwing money on a slot machine, there is no whim spending. Exception are "collector"-type players, but they are mentaly ill, pls seek help.
- I can drop FGO for a year, come back and won't miss out important things. Servants are rerunning all the time, events get reruns all the time. Missing a day or a week will make impact is miniscule on account.
- In FGO it's possible to stop farming and progress because you don't need it anymore, and I did. For e.g. I got my both Scathachs to level 120, NP5, +2k/+2k fou, all append skills, etc., both Skadis are 120 lv. too. FGO's desing in this part is literaly the best. You can't miss out, if you already got everything you need. This my not apply to "collector" type of players, but they are mentaly ill, pls seek help.
- And the most important part is that it's possible to get all content on the last day of event. There is no such cancerous thing as time-limited mini-events.
These are a lot of FGO haters these days and FGO for sure doesn't keep up with modern mobile gaming industry, but in many aspects it's just better than newer games.
FGO is basically one of the rawest gacha out there due to its age (almost 9 years of age). It's extremely simple and, in terms of gameplay, outdated, but you get stories from the same minds behind a lot of Type-Moon works and, as you said, can simply play for a short amount of time or decide to store AP with blue apples.
It has plenty of issues--the pity systen is the most bare minimum out there, we have a period of time where content is dried, while there's plenty of features that either need to be added or improved, but as a game that introduces players to/aims for fans of Type-Moon series, it's still enjoyable in its own way.

I actually agree with a lot of his takes, and i think tec its kinda too jaded or too immersed in his own bubble.
Normal ppl can't just stay 2+ hours doing a story quest or farming, by being e pseudo RNG in i think everything related to farm, means that A LOT of ppl wont have satisfactory results for months or ever, and doing a puzzle, just to walk 100 meters and do the same exact puzzle for a comon chest isn't really the most thrilling thing ever.
Not everyone has a huge twitch chat to talk to and keep things interesting while walking around doing boring samie puzzles, for god sake i doubt any of you had any fun, alone in ur room doint the Aranyaka whole 8 hours questline in genshin, and thats ppl who can actually just sit and play it, for ppl that have some minutes a day or can't possibly have the energy to play boring stuff after a long day at work/college etc? yeah.
I tried it 2 times, i had like overall 30 mins i knew i could power thru the eepyness after work and just stumble to my bed, and god, walking around in sumerus desert or just locked in boring unskipable slow dialog? then i saw on YT the whole thing had like 8+ hours? yeah it would take me weeks only doing that, no way.

It's not just whether or not you're good at your job, it's far more the fact that many jobs only have limited amounts of spots to be filled. There's only so much demand, and FAAAAARRRRR more supply with a big portion of degrees. Really, people should be going to a trade school if they want a job, as those are always in demand and trade schools often offer job placement. They're also MUCH cheaper. College itself is a rip-off besides for certain things like Medical, STEM, Law, etc.
Tectone is behind times FGO has a pity now. I honestly cant imagine having no pity and even thinking about spending money at it. I got to pity once in FGO and it still was super painfull, it was around 400$ :v kinda absurd
