This was in your face performance art: the US was just starting to really get how racist and cruel it had been, and by being so blatant, I think it made a point. +eohaver2 It is still funny, just over the heads of dumbed down Americans. *The world is groos ¡¬¡...*
This is actually funny. I liked it!!
What year was this
@LonerBlack66 Tht's messed up for even 1971
Don't comment Racist in this video.!!
When I was in was in 2nd grade in 1974, I performed in blackface in a play. It was about John Henry going against the steam engine, driving railroad spikes. I was John Henry's foreman and I doubted he would beat the steam engine. My buddy Phil was John Henry and he won. My mom burnt cork and put the soot on my face to make it black.
This was in your face performance art: the US was just starting to really get how racist and cruel it had been, and by being so blatant, I think it made a point.
However, after so many years, its not so funny now. I loved Pat Paulsen (he really did run for President), but even he would know this performance wouldn't work today.
+eohaver2 It is still funny, just over the heads of dumbed down Americans. This is humor that serves a social purpose, which is something most people these days wouldn't get because they don't want to face and accept human foibles. They just want to cover them over so no one's poor little feelings get hurt.
It's so over the top, and hilarious while he rips into the different white nationalities, in black face. I agree with you about a dumbed down America; I was reading some statistics the other day, basically that of all the rich Western Nations, the US has a very low educational level, and is known for being....Uhhh.....dumb.
Trouble is, I don't think people these days would understand the history of wearing black face, and wouldn't care, and wouldn't even know it was considered insulting to black people.
Only because we're so thin skinned now... which obviously doesn't do anyone any good.
Ryder Spearmann We have more "taboos" on what is okay to say and what isn't. Folks can't throw out the N word anymore, and I think that's good. But I agree with you that some folks take it too far, but those folks have always been around.
I had folks making extremely anti-Irish comments to my face, very foul, and it didn't feel very good. But It rolled off when I think of how well we've done.
A Pollock is a minority?
This is honestly disturbing why did they think it was ok to imitate African Americans throughout history my people has been treated terribly this is the most racist video I’ve ever seen and I hope this man realizes that!! 😤
thats one scary looking dude

Racist
@@Cuasimodo2372 How?
I wish comedy like this still existed
because your racist
@@Khalid96 no, because its comedy and its funny. People today are too sensitive, overly offensive, and a bunch of pvssies who can't handle a simple joke
@@mr.joshua204 But white people mocking people of color is racist
Comedy has no limitations. And it sounds like it's a "you" problem because you're too sensitive to handle a light hearted joke
@Shouko Komi then why don't you build a bridge and get over it
As a polock I am offended. That’s racist
What did black face do to for this performance? Did he have to have that for the jokes to make sense ?
Pat Paulson is doing a routine about "Ethnic Humour" and is explaining about how it is insensitive to tell these said jokes in a coming age of self awareness. The real joke here is that he is doing it all in blackface.
@@tmack2746 - You're right on it with that comment.
1974. For what it's worth, this never actually aired.
