We have 10 MAN TGA and TGX euro5 from 2006-2011 ! MAN have beautiful cabine space, very logical and best look multifunctional steering wheel ! Most of our MAN trucks have more than 900.000km without any problem with MAN D20 common rail engine, and great ZTF AS Tronic gear box! We replaced original set of clutch not before 850,000km because of AS Tronic of course :) We recomended going to replace them with the new MAN Euro 6 soon. "M" -most powerfull "A" - Awesome "N" never disappointed truck! This is one and only MAN !!!
The transmission is a 13 speed (convertible 9 speed). The Red splitter on the side is to split gears 5-11 (the other two gears are hi/low and low/low). The lever to split from low range (gears 1-4) to high range (5-11) is located on the front of the gear shift. **color note** black splitter on side is a Super 10, red splitter is a 13, blue splitter is a 15, and grey splitter is a 18 speed
Usually the guys with those big sleepers are either pulling moving trailers (house moving companies) or LTL flatbeds with small random things. Therefore, weight isn't an issue.
I love the look of old Peterbuilts and Kenworths, they'll be classics forever. But times have changed. It's time American trucks were more fuel efficient. The reason everything is more expensive is cause it costs more to move materials and products around. Yeah, the European trucks look like crap, but they get many more miles per gallon. I'll take ugly trucks on the road with lower prices in the stores over pretty trucks and high store prices any day.

I reckon what American truck drivers need is a European designed exterior and interior of a truck, with the length and interior space of an American truck... Mixing modern designs and features with more living space... A bit like a Scania T-cab, but longer. The North American Volvo trucks are probably like what I described though...
@killermmmmuelle Once saw a Freightliner Classic XL with a Detroit Diesel V16 quad turbo with 1400 hp out of a tug boat. It's owned by Werner Express and pulls their drag car. The hood was extended and is hydraulically lifted.
just to nit pick...the black one at 0.40 is actually a T908 built by kenworth Australia and sold only in Australia...they mostly haul b triples and roadtrains over here...but great vid
Ony nose trucks you see here are hauling gravel, tarmac and sand.. Ie dumptrucks.. They haul based on wheight not on pallet space.. Sure is nice with a long sleeper but. If you have to leave 15 pallets at the broker.... 18 meters max on EU and 25.5 meters max here in .se with some conditions. Bumper to bumper.

The scania or Volvo cabby with 750 h.p. would kill peterbuilt or kenworth in a drag race! To bad they don't sell them state side. That being said my dad drove a 359 for years and my brother owns a fleet of awesome w900s and 379s!
the shifter, u use the red switch at the side for hi/ low range? I also noticed that on the left part of the H south of reverse there is simply a black option marked low, ; would that be a crawler gear? I'm guessing u have only 8 due to torque convertor in transmission?
We've already got plenty of what you're talking about. The thing is, there are enough of us out here who think the modern designs are ugly (myself included) that Kenworth and Peterbilt can still make money selling new trucks with the old design.
the sad thing is the w900 in james bond wasnt an aerocab i have the movie and it is a flat top sleper the aero cab w900 was costom after the movie but wasnt the exact style oo7 used
Volvo has just released there 750 a few months ago, scania is looking at a 780 or 800, im not boasting man abt either euro or yanks there all good motors. What is official is Paccar who own KW Pete n Daf Trucks r starting to use there Daf engines on the american trucks soon check it out mate...
