I remember watching this video on repeat when I was young. I can’t believe it’s been more than 10 years now. I can say I finally got to experience it myself.
I've lived in Tokyo for 4 years now and still love this video so, so much! It captures the atmosphere of so much of the year and so many nights walking back home from work or from a bar. Thank you again Myles! This video has stood the test of time.

I've always loved this video. It perfectly captures my months I spent in Japan. I was only 16 and I was alone, just wandering around the country and taking in everything. It captures the loneliness, but also all the things going on around you. And almost the air of sadness, especially in the rainy weather.
I use to watch this video back when I was in middle school, dreaming of visiting Japan someday. I have now visited on three separate occasions, and watching this video still fills me with as much wonder as it did back then! Really glad I stumbled upon it again, hope it continues to inspire people to visit.
It's so sad that people watch this video and miss Tokyo so much as a result, even after a long time. But that means that the video was so well done that it pulls the experience to the front of our minds. The longing is renewed, like the sting of a day in the sun after a sunburn. It's a compliment to the endlessly amazing city, and to the skills and intuition of the creator of the video. I still miss it as well!
I have watched many many videos and documentaries about Tokyo and none capture the magic of this vibrant city quite like the videos that Myles makes. I first visited Tokyo 4 years ago and fell in love with it.... I miss Tokyo so much and I will watch these videos over and over until I return later this year. I hope to live there someday.

Whenever I see this video I get a little more homesick for a country and culture I have only visited for two weeks, but have spent years learning about. I can't wait to go back again someday and share what I love about the country with my sons. My oldest doesn't really remember being there because he was only 2 at the time. It perfectly captures the vivacity and excitement of the city through the hectic, almost brutal, pacing of the editing, yet it also illustrates the serenity of the neon city through the wistful soundtrack. For me, the hustle and bustle of Tokyo is deeply relaxing, not stressful. You just have to let the city wash over you.

So, it's been 3 years since i've seen this video for the first time and i've never forgotten about it. Every now and then I come back here, watch it and am happy from the depths of my soul! I fell in love with Tokyo a long time ago, I've been there 6 years ago and in the meantime I got to see sooo many cities. I found AKL and truly fell in love again, but honestly it can never compete with Tokyo. A little heads up: 2 years from now, I'll be there, rocking your streets- my heart is already there!

bet i lived in tokyo & was japanese in my past live:) i just gotta say it again, this vid is my favourite on tube!! remembers me when i stepped out the main trainstation in tokyo and i didn't realize that i really was there, but then when got to the top of tokyo tower few hours later i realized that i could see the city of my dreams and that this was all i ever wanted... and then i started to cry & thought 'i've reached my dream, now i can die' but i'm happy i live, wanna go back! love tokyo!

I love Tokyo ad will be returning in November 09. It is such a dynamic city operating 24/7. There is so much to do and so much to see-it can be a cultural shock-but, I love it. There seems to be no zoning code and it is not unusual to see a century old temple/shrine next to a modern glass high rise buliding.
i've been to Japan every year for the past four years since going the first time. this video touches me the most though since it's set during the period in which i lived in Tokyo (oct. 2005- aug. 2006) damn i miss that place. the cozy izakayas, my japanese friends, my university festivals. sah~

Kamakura is beautiful! I visited the Buddha when I was there in April 2006. I can't wait to go again. I love the Sweet Potato ice cream too!
