    The first song I ever knew was Gimme That Wine. I was born in 1965. My Dad loved jazz and Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross. Unhand That Bottle!

    The great Jon Hendricks. No other adjective will suffice.
    Dear Jon, rest in piece -- I can well imagine you and Lambert singing like nobody's biz up there😊

    Keith Pullen..
    I was also around at Marble Arch in '70/71. just a few times though. I used to go to school with Jon's son Eric, and friends and I used to spend some good times there... Eric could be a bit 'naughty' ;-). Been trying for years to know what happened to him (Eric)... school friends still ask after him 45 years later!

    • @wigwamcity
      @wigwamcity 5 лет назад

      Hello Alan Cook - I must have seen you in 1971 - I was living with the Hendricks Family at there home at Stanhope Place for about 5 months,- Eric was often Erratic with his behaviour & was often corrected by his father Jon,- Eric was taken to a Mental Clinic where he stayed up & till I finished working for Jon in Mid Summer of 1971. I don't know what ever happened to Eric after this = I have often wondered my self. Eric's Sister Coleen died tragically some years later. Michelle & Aria Hendricks are still performing - Sadly their father Jon died a year ago aged around 95 / 96. Keith Pullen.

    If your a rocker or a blues man and you didn't recognize this is a Louis Jordan song after five seconds please go back to roots music school. Louis Jordan had 18 top ten hits on the whatever music chart. No I don't know who wrote it.

    Does Wynton know his way around a nice little Bebop chord progression, or WHAT? And, a whole lot more of course. You could tell the guys in the band (no slouches, themselves) knew a master when they heard one!
    Great stuff!

    • @MarkInLA
      @MarkInLA 7 лет назад +2

      @@MarkInLA Ah, rhythm changes?

    • @flaggaaron123
      @flaggaaron123 2 года назад

      Neither.. It is a standard swing era 32 bar AABA tune where the bridge goes to the IV not a dominant 7th on III as in the changes to "I Got rhythm". It is not the form of a 12 bar blues but he plays with the "sound of the blues" (vocal inflections, bend notes, varied vibrato, etc.) and in syncopated time (swing) with the band as should all Jazz musicians.
