    I had the privilege of playing Bass for Jon Hendricks & family in Germany & UK in the Spring / Summer of 1971. A Great Privilege & a Great Man. Kp;

    My cousin was a care taker for him in his late years we had a family Thanksgiving that him and his wife atended and he sang a song for is all small world it's amazing.

    I am shaking and I have goosebumps I am watching and listening to greatness right now. I still miss Lambert and Ross. RIP No group has come close to the mighty Lambert Hendricks and Ross. Hendricks sounds amazing!!

    No. He was NOT THE originator of vocalese. He came after the the late grae jazz singer Eddie Jefferson who himself said he was influenced by Leo Watson, who was ONE of the innovators of vocalese. I also had it wrong and was corrected by a much older person who is more informed on the Eddie and and Hendricks history. Refer to Wikipedia for mare accurate facts.

    And to top it all off Marvin playing on the same set and Brand I play CAMCO OAKLAND CA I had an 18x14 Bass drum 2x8x12 Toms and a 14x14 Floor tom Plus a Camco aristocrat Snare drum a 4x14 Killer.
