Really useful licks here over one chord, will definitely try out! You don't often see jazz/ fusion style licks written out so clearly... what's your main influence in terms of players?
David Garibaldi, so I would check out his stuff because I know there are backing tracks to some of his music with Tower of Power in them, and this may be from one.
+Zac Mulcahy I left out the double stop in the second beat and practiced each group of 4 16th notes slowly and joined them together. I practiced the slide and 'mini' sweep in the last 2 bars separately, which is just 2 more groups of 4 notes taking the tied notes in account, and then joined them all together. These are very exciting licks and that organ is so hot it is very distracting and the tendency is to want to rush to play them. I still don't have them up to proper speed yet but I love using them to practice my picking synchronization and hope to add more feel and speed as they become more comfortable under my fingers. I hope that helped. This lick covers less real estate than any of the others and was one of the easier ones for me.
All due respect for taking the time but some of these licks are a little too under syncopated and "on the 8's" to really shine. First one's a keeper though, thanks for sharing.
+Danny McCaffrey Do you even know what syncopated means? That has to be the dumbest comment I ever read. This is the STUFF. And if you had any heart or soul you would know it.
+MrJoeyBoombotz You're right about my mis-use. I should have said under syncopated or "on the beat" or "on the 8's" even though this is pretty much all 16ths. My position still stands with amendment - syncopation is what needs, not lacks.
There can be 2 different 'feels' to any given tune at any tempo, straight and swung. Swung feels use syncopation almost exclusively and straight feels don't, but do when it is called for. Funk is generally a straight feel, and hip hop has a lot tunes with a swung feel. They are like right and left hands, different ways songs are written or arranged. Any musician can take these and 'swing' them into dotted dotted eighth/sixteen notes or dotted sixteenth/32nd notes. To say what you have means you don't understand that or at least didn't. I think you are trying to pretend you are a musician. Get a life or get some lessons and understand what you talking about before you criticize some very talented people's brilliant work who also take the time to share it when they don't have to. There isn't one other video on the Internet as advanced and focused as this one is in this genre that I know of and is probably why the author was so kind to share. And don't give any me explanations. I don't want to hear it. Like I said, get alife or some lessons and learn when to shut up and learn, when to be gracious and say thank you, and when to speak up IF something is really out of order, like you are.

Hi Great playing.
What kind of scales are you using over the backing chords or recommend over certain chords?
😎
lovely licks...... would you be so gently to share this beautiful backing track ? ;-))

Tensions
what key is this in?
It is F maj, alot of this is the F mixolydian mode sound.
Is he picking every note? No hammer ons?
perryschnabel I can't see how he plays the first five notes..
+perryschnabel combo of hammer ons, sweep picking and alternate picking
I can't seem to figure out how to play lick 9 correctly

+Danny McCaffrey Syncopated? What.
+Jens Clarberg Right? They're pretty much just straight 16th note runs! Very funky and tasteful. Many thanks!
