Thanks for posting this. Great race, great track, and great to see all those sweet Dodges again. Rockingham should still be on the Cup schedule, and so should North Wilkesboro. Racing just isn't racing anymore.
Tire flying off pit road. Car flips over off the back stretch. Hard racing all day long with a photo finish. What a great, vintage NASCAR race. It's too bad this was the last race they had at The Rock, but at least it went out with a bang.

It’s crazy reading these comments just before the 2023 New Hampshire race where we now have raced at Wilkesboro again, and now rumors of Wilkesboro becoming a points race and Rockingham being the all star next year. I’m hoping The Rock comes back because I love it (I was born in 2008). The way iRacing portrays The Rock the next gen car is real good.
On NASCAR Thunder 03-05, The Rock was my favorite track to race on aside from Darlington & Phoenix. Idk why I like the oddball configures tracks best but I sure miss *The Rock*
Probably the same reason I did. The majority of the people that ran up front in those races were the regulars that did in real life from that timeline. People like Ward Burton, Michael Waltrip, Kyle Petty, and Steve Park would run up front in the races at Rockingham, just like the Burton’s and Steve Park would be up front at Darlington in those games. It was refreshing to see the game was realistic, and also to see some faces up front that weren’t Gordon or Earnhardt Jr. It also helps that during career mode, Darlington and Rockingham are tracks that you can win at as a rookie with sub par equipment as they don’t require as much speed or aero as they do just skill and luck.
Funny funny catch here... If you listen closely at 125:00 while Larry and Daryl are talking you can faintly hear in the background one of the pit reporters (Matt toxin maybe?) saying "you know I was gonna try but Larry had to jump in like all the time"... Might have to listen a couple times to catch it but it's there and it's funny, idk why it's funny but drama
I was at this race, sat high in turn 4. Grear race, great track..They need to get this track back on the schedule. I remember talking to a local guy that day and he was saying how they taken the fall race away the previous year and they just cant take this one..Well, of course they did. A few years later, i was staying up at Pinehurst a few miles away and i ending up driving back to the track and walked around for a bit. It was strange to be there by myself and no crowd. Anyways, Ive been to over 60 Cup races over the last 22 years and next to Darlington, this is/ was the best racing. The Rock and North Wilkesboro should be back. The Rock has new ownership and they are keeping the track in good shape and are aiming to have racing there again. Nascar has been making changes over the years to have more flexibility in scheduling. So we'll see...
How can you have watched this epic race and decided to take this wonderful track off of the schedule. Greatest travesty the sport has seen. Bring back Rockingham
Rockingham: Easy in Thunder 2003 (even on Legend diff), impossible in the following games due to the CPU opponents having GT car levels of downforce in turns 1 and 2.
No, the yellow had flown by the time he passed them. Several rules had changed and that was one of them. The field was frozen the instant the yellow flew and they even installed transponders around the track to make sure they got it right.
When it was a 500 mile race in the beginning it was 500 laps, later when they remeasured the track and found it was a mile plus 90 ft, they lowered it to 492 laps.
This is so much better than today’s racing
Yep
Disagree
By far. Nascar is dying
@@CM-sy6ud it’s not lmao

Toaster66 Toaster66 wilkesboro outgrew the sport. Same with the rock. Nobody is in the stands. There is a Chance cup could go to Iowa and Nashville
The reason it went off the schedule was because it didn't get enough people.
Its a lot safer if Newman had his wreck in this car he might not be here
@@ethantaube2512 Nashville is back!

The Rock definitely went out with a bang
1:24:09 The background of him getting tired of Larry lmao.
Then him getting fed up at 1:24:59 🤣
I miss Rockingham
Was still on the edge of my seat at the finish as a Kasey Kahne fan watching this
Seems like it was yesterday.

In career mode it was always the first track I would get the pole on. You could ride the wall wide open through 3 & 4.

Ricky Craven too.
I’m a simple man. I see a Rockingham race video, I click on it and watch.

So was I are you the one throwing turkey legs on the track? Lol
I can't remember was this the rain delayed or the 01 race?
@@vapinbachelor289 no, this was the 2004 Race...last Cup race at Rockingham.
i am so glad nascar outlawed start and parks
get some start and parks aren’t outlawed? It still happens each and every week
According to James Finch the pit crew was late to the track and when they got there, they were informed Joe had been parked for no pit crew.
Rockingham will be missed
This Chase was and still is the best concept than the "Playoffs"
The old method was the best.

I remember being able to name every driver and their number. These were the days. NASCAR died when these drivers retired.
1:24:56 Matt Yocum classic bitching and not realizing his mic was hot. How many times did he do that over the years?
"CLOSE. MATT'S. MIC."
It’s coming back with North Wilksboro

🤭 (gasp) are you kidding me that tire when boing and bouncing on pit stop and over the wall to the grass
I wish Kasey won in his just 2nd start.

Jamie McMurray got so screwed. at 2:41:12 you can clearly see his car lapping Kenseth and Kahne while they were in the pits.
Why does nobody ever talk about this? This was one of the worst scoring errors NASCAR has made.

Wtf is Robby Gordon doing blocking Rusty Wallace for like 10 laps. He was a lap down
It's Robby Gordon, that is all you need to say.
