Before this race started, I figured this would appropriately mark the final time they did the silent 'Lap 3' salute for The Intimidator. Of course, they did do it again in 2011 and 2021 on the 10th and 20th anniversaries of his death respectively, and I'm sure they'll do it again at Daytona in 2031.

Marlin and Labonte thought the caution was coming out in the closing laps and Kenseth stayed in the throttle, allowing him to catch them. If it wasn’t for NASCAR not throwing the caution sooner for some reason, Marlin probably wins.
Weird, FOX didn’t have the ‘02 Daytona, but immediately started broadcasting after. Both broadcasts did a bang up job, but it was hard to beat FOX back then.

It's funny they were picking Tony Stewart when Tony never really ran too well at the Rock, here and Darlington just never suited Tony's style. Tony was not a patient driver and he was so used to short track racing and dirt racing where all you do is attack and make moves for yourself, there is no management or conservation and even Tony said himself at Kansas one year, I hate racing like this and still won the thing on fumes.
