yep, that was my first introduction to him, as a black kid it was amazing to see a black character in marvel, same with blue marvel but i was introduced to him way later
@Landon Rife yep, the superhero squad show was the first marvel show to dig deep into its mythos of characters, its one of the main reasons i love that show and marvel as a whole, the next show, earth's mightiest heroes, was a kid-teen focused show

The Falcon is by far my favorite super hero of all time. His comics are the first Marvel comics I ever read. I love that Variant is giving him some love.

i really wish that in the final episode. bucky can unlock his "winter soldier mode" willingly like a super saiyan. like what happended in the civil war, when he heard that code he unleashed hell

The opening of falcon and winter soldier with falcon in action was fucking iconic/beyond epic.
Honestly the comic Falcon’s origins are kind of hokey. I like the military version in the MCU better and usually I like the comics version better
They definitely fleshed him out better. His comic origin just doesn't really work especially since they couldn't use mutants til now.
It was very progressive for the time. Making him a generic tough military man with a jetpack is pretty lame.

My dad and I watched Falcon and Winter Soldier today (Captain America is my dad’s favorite hero) and he was happier than I think I’ve ever seen him.
Falcon was one of my favorites growing up because of captain qmerica. Cap was 2nd to Batman for me and seeing Falcon and cap team up was awesome

In tribal African tribes they communicate with birds to lead them to honey from bee hives so it wouldn’t be impossible with all the skills in the mcu
@@Arkyuu Its not really about being threatening. Having the ability to communicate with birds means he essentially has his own massive spy network as he can relay and gain information through the birds in the world.

Love your character histories. One thing that I would like to see is the nemesis of each character, whether hero or villain. The best characters all have interesting rivals that make them more interesting.

All I knew about Falcon before watching this video is that at the end of Endgame when he gets cap's shield, he missed the chance to deliver the line: "Look at me. I am the captain now."

@Nich Hustler yep, that's why I stopped looking at comics in the 90's bc the art was so ATROCIOUS! And don't even get me started on how they would use some of the best artist just to do covers and the inside art was trash just to get you to buy it.

honestly black panther inspired me so much especially since my Tribe name (Tlingit/ AK native) is black tobacco, T'uch Ganch However the mcu and actor really inspired me with his efforts as a regular guy keeping up with the many super heroes, where he could have just had a suit like war machine but instead utilizes the saying "wars are fought with weapons, but are won with men"

Different. I think Mackie's version is great as well.
So to sum it up
Original Lee/Colan origin: Sam is just a social worker/good dude who gets caught up in the Exiles shenanigans and is inspired to become a hero by Steve
Engleheart retcon: Sam was a pimp who got trapped and ran into the Red Skull who gave him powers and a new personality/memories to make him a perfect partner (and later weapon against) Cap.
Dematteis Retcon: Sam's heroic personality is his true personality and "Snap" is a result of mental trauma from his parents deaths
Priest Retcon: largely the same as Dematteis but Falcon gets his powers from a mutant gene and not the cosmic cube
Busiek Retcon: Back to Dematteis
Remender Retcon: Snap Wilson was never a thing. Just false memories and lies/reality warping courtesy of the Red Skull.

One thing I like about the movie version of the Falcon is that he was a soldier and I felt better that he got the shield. The comic version is a badass, But I felt That a civilian was going to order troops around, I was in the armed forces for six years and It would bother me.
He should get the shield but I do not get why he would change his name to Captain America.
The most shocking thing that I learned from this video was the part about Red Skull simply wearing a mask. Also, I got an ad for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier just before you started explaining his history.

I'm so glad Sam has become Falcon again. It just felt like such a detriment to the character to force him to be Captain America, because he is Falcon, that's his title and only his. It's like Marvel didn't value the character, just as other POC characters. Falcon deserves better than to be seen as a knock-off or a sidekick.
I hope we get to see some of “snap” in the show
