  • AutoBot Home Electric Vehicle Charger features a J-plug/Type 1 connector and plugs into a NEMA 14-50 outlet to provide 40A of output or up to 48A when hardwired providing a faster charge indoor or outside. The RFID card keeps the charger secure or it can be switched to the convenient Plug and Charge mode as shown in the video. I rented an electric Hyundai Kona to try out the charger and also used the free public charger located at McConnells Mill State Park after a drive through Moraine State Park to help drain the battery.

Did you see higher than 7.6 kW charge rate? A 40 amp circuit should be able to deliver a rate of up to 9.6 kW.

I haven't seen a higher charging rate at 40 amps.

I installed this and it worked for a few weeks but today it doesn't charge. the RFID card gets a beep from the unit but no charging. there's a green arrow circle on the screen. any ideas on what to do?

Disconnect it from the power source (I am assuming it is plugged into a 50 amp outlet) and leave it unplugged for a minute. Plug it back in and see if it reset everything. If that doesn't work and you don't need the security of the RFID card, maybe change it in the settings to not use the card.

If you use the plug-in set up of the charger, you lose some charging amperage. If you wire the charger into a panel box or sub panel box, you gain a few amps of charging.
