Some larger Catalinas (e.g. 470s) have a an inadequate surface weld within the rudder on the rudder post. A few boats have lost their rudders as a result, one while in mid transit in the Pacific.

So you are crawling all around that boat lift. Who inspected it?

Thanks Jake for your concern and comment. The boat lift was really nice and very secure. I wish I could have purchased it also but I didn't have a way to transport it or a marina that would allow it to be installed.

Three digit boat model names were built in Florida. Two digit, California
