Hey man recognize your doofy ass avitar, totally watched your VST plugin video because I too, am a scrub without Axe Fx. Btw - Have you seen Nollys video about his bass tone/rig?
Thanks for letting us "behind the rope" as it were to see all of these behind the scenes vids over the years. It's great to see a bit of the process that leads to PERIPHERY. Love the new MARIGOLD playthrough as well. Just saw that RHODES amp at the end!! Nice :)
Misha Mansoor I mean if you aren't using it, you could just send it my way... ;) in all seriousness, this album sounds huge already, can't wait to see what you guys bring to the table this time.
Thought that breakdown was a fitting part for Spencer to come in. Shows how much of a fucking badass he is, and gives you like an "OOOOOOH SHIIIIIT" mentality.
That's a quote to live by right there, almost as inspirational as Misha's famous words, "Life is hard when my dick isn't." I'm determined to use this in a conversation now...
What's the band around the neck of his guitar (with the paw on it) at 1:47? Some sort of mute? I see a number of guitarist who play djent-ish stuff have them.
@Misha Mansoor I have a Crate bv150 ,it's their boutique amp, 3 channels, I've always plugged a GT8 through its clean channel, yesterday I decided to plug in without a processor ,Amazing! Beautiful tone ,total balls ,I need a drive pedal now ,Tube Screamer is the standard, any thoughts ?
Bruh, it's literally just Spencer smiling and casually flipping Misha off, the song is unknowable until the album is released..........everyone knows that.
Well they are from the new album, or are ideas that progress towards one of the expected songs. It is this, OR, more likely, a song he wrote just for the video which he does a lot. He will literally write a quick ten second lick for some stuff. For example, when "Nolly's Apology" came on during the first or second Juggernaught update, he put a little song in by him.
+Devon Nyers It did, it's the backing track to the solo in 22 faces. Which is EXTREMELY disappointing to me because of how sick this riff is on its own. I wish that it was in the foreground, and longer. It only had like a 20 second appearance. :(
***** Can you elaborate on right hand technique? Is there some advantage to certain positions whilst playing quickly? I tend to have kind of an open hand.
Theodore Roosevelt I'm not Mark and I'm not nearly as skilled as he is but I can share some of my (limited) knowledge. Some people (John Petrucci, for example) usually place their pinky near the pickup in order to "anchor" their picking hand. This gives more control over your picking hand. Then again some people prefer to place their wrist on the bridge. Then there's mr. Paul Gilbert who kinda lets his picking hand float above the bridge and then he just shreds away. :D I tend to rest my wrist on the bridge when playing rhytms and when I play leads I use my pinky. Oh,and I keep my picking hand semi-open. Just do what feels natural to you and remember to keep your hand relaxed! I hope this shed some light on the matter and forgive my english... :D
I've seen Mark play with both fingers-out and fingers-in within the same song. I think it just depends on the part and how he's feeling (maybe if it is palm muted as well.)
Periphery III: This Time We're Letting Nolly Do Everything
all you need in life is Nolly's bass tone

THE PRS ARCHON RETURNS.
So far everything has been all Fractal/QSC/Two Notes/Palmer/Zilla
Misha Mansoor I mean if you aren't using it, you could just send it my way... ;) in all seriousness, this album sounds huge already, can't wait to see what you guys bring to the table this time.
These videos are the highlight of my life.
Thought that breakdown was a fitting part for Spencer to come in. Shows how much of a fucking badass he is, and gives you like an "OOOOOOH SHIIIIIT" mentality.
I’ll never forget that clip at 1:45 one of my favorite riffs, I wish you could hear it more in 22 faces 😩
It's really cool re-watching this now that Juggernaut is out and you can recognize the songs :)
Best updates of a band EVER! :P They're so funny!
The best update thus far!!
I love those natural wood guitars. very pretty.
drums have so much attack, love how punchy they are
I always have to watch these at least three times to comprehend what I just watched lol such epic. So derp. Much herp. Wow.
I wonder if Gillette would be interested in Spencer's catch phrase.
3:05 inspirational quote of the year
Mrak tone's was amazing!
2:20 "wow"
@Misha: ahh cool just I see everyone else there but Matt :) all good! So looking forward to this!
i die of laughter every time when nolly shows misha that effect and misha says "wow" lol the way he says it is just extremely funny
"Once you go smooth sack you never go back" is a lie I tried it once and I have only one thing to say "Razor-Burn"......never again.
Seriously wanting to hear the groove at 1:00 come to life. It sounds beastly!
I'm so excited.
2:01 Fap-Filter? Sounds like a great plugin
So was Nolly making it rain there or what?
Well that just left me hot and ready...
for this album to be released.
Damn!!!... I can't wait for this new stuff xD... Please share a full track with us guys! =D
THUMBS UP FOR MRAKY ON GUITAR!
Limbo!! Mark knows what's up
The highlight of the update.
I fucking lost it at 2:17 holy shit hahaha
Mark's face never fails to make me laugh my balls off. Just something about it, especially when they just zoom in on him sometimes lol
Can I have your recording equipment please?
fosterboy12388 sure!
Misha Mansoor Thanks. I'll PM you my address. Didn't think this would work to be honest.
Misha Mansoor What about me? D: share the love.
Misha Mansoor Can I have your Axe FX please?

Misha Mansoor - I want an Indonesian burrito from China.
AHH cant wait for this to come out!
Maaan, these riffs are sounding juicy!!
The idea of Nolly playing all Periphery solos Is terrifying...(MISHA, YOU LIAAAAR XD)
Nolly is so amazing
He deserves hair
FLAWLESS VICTORY
1:00 "22 faces" :D
Yeah! :D Came back to this video just to hear it again!
Nice to know that Nolly is a human like the rest of us.
How many layers does it take to get to the center of a Misha?
4. he tracks 4. hahaha
+colt culpepper He tracks 2.
there's a video on his page of him quad tracking, and him explaining why he does it.
***** you mean the recording guitars one? He says he duo tracks 90 percent of the time but sometime quads for a washier sound
+DeOrestes what DeOrestes said
I feel like this is the first studio update where Mark is actually doing something rather than playing video games
I've decided to spend all my money on Periphery merch and their full discography.
I've made a good choice.
So many tasty riffs. Probably won't need to eat for a few days.
These updates make me moist.
1:44 i love this riff...
This Album is going to be epic.
Spencer is the singer of the band. *finger* LOL
That's a quote to live by right there, almost as inspirational as Misha's famous words, "Life is hard when my dick isn't." I'm determined to use this in a conversation now...
Yes, Spencer is the singer of the band. Clearly written for those who still whinge for instrumental.
Spencer - Dispencer) muahah) i feel so updated now.
Just discovered that he is using a Canon 5D Mark iii.
Just in case for someone who were also curious about his camera.
What's the band around the neck of his guitar (with the paw on it) at 1:47? Some sort of mute? I see a number of guitarist who play djent-ish stuff have them.
Gruv gear fret wraps bro
Colton Anderson Thanks man!
i saw them sunday night. i got a hug from mark. made my fucking life.
Holy fuck that was the punchiest god damn snare I've heard in a long time.
NICE TONE THERE !
1:17 THAT FILL from alpha
All I can think of after seeing the most recent interview with Alternative Press is that this gives Mark PTSD
ahhhhhh can't wait for vocals
Misha needs to start making YTP's
@Misha Mansoor I have a Crate bv150 ,it's their boutique amp, 3 channels, I've always plugged a GT8 through its clean channel, yesterday I decided to plug in without a processor ,Amazing! Beautiful tone ,total balls ,I need a drive pedal now ,Tube Screamer is the standard, any thoughts ?
Make a shirt with that quote I'd buy it " Once you go smooth sack, you never go back."
@2:27-2:30 is literally my favorite part. I like Spencer lots, no homo. He's a major inspiration for me.
What song is that? do you know?
Bruh, it's literally just Spencer smiling and casually flipping Misha off, the song is unknowable until the album is released..........everyone knows that.
misha uses a lot of different songs in his updates, doesnt mean that ones from or even on the new album
Lol, I thought you were talking about the music - I quite like the riff at 1:01 though
What song is playing at 2:28 when Spencer comes on the screen?
Cass Allen That is from their April fools song, Borthelcash.
Nolly is love, Nolly is life
2022 and I'm still smooth sackin' it
I love that Ipad game!
Why didn't 2:35 make the cut? That sounded awesome!
Misha plays this part live I think
+Devon Nyers It did, it's the backing track to the solo in 22 faces. Which is EXTREMELY disappointing to me because of how sick this riff is on its own. I wish that it was in the foreground, and longer. It only had like a 20 second appearance. :(
It sounds amazing, I can barely hear it on the final track though.
It is very quiet, sad to see that it gets little air-time :(
Nolly's Vibrato tho Ugh
please let that song at 1:00 be the single before the album's release
2:35 that's nice mark!!
LMFAO haha when Nolly kept getting wasted xD
mraky rockin' dat faceless tee :D
8 string guitars make me happpyy!
Bro, do you even happpyy?
Riff at 1:44 is perfect

What's the song at 2:35?
hey misha you can find a burrito indonesian style its called ketoprak
i have the juggercites.
that means I am excited
hahahaha thats amazing. respect your elders....and all vibratos
Did Mark change his picking style. I remember watching the P2s updates and being freaked out by his middle finger...
I actually have worked on tweaking my right-hand technique since then
*****
Can you elaborate on right hand technique? Is there some advantage to certain positions whilst playing quickly? I tend to have kind of an open hand.
*****
i have this bad habit of holding my pick with my middle finger and thumb its always worked for me but im trying to change to the standard way

Juggernaut: The Movie
Starring exclusively Mark Holcomb and Nolly Getgood
What's playing at 2:27?
What Jackson model is mark playing that's the 8 string?
1:55 should have been on the album
How I wish to have that Ultra Axe FX :(. Too expensive, it would take two lifetimes for me to buy that :(
Damn, Nolly knows how to fucking mix! Did you HEAR those presets?!
Como se llama la Dona que tiene la guitarra para que no exista mucho HUM??????
0:52 and there it goes again lol
Can anyone tell the camera used in this video?
Probably Misha's dslr...
album better be called 'can't polish a third'
Rip Nolly 😭
