About once a year I forget some of the finer points on getting text in circular patterns. This video nicely (and QUICKLY!!) summarizes everything I needed. BOOKMARKED!!
1:02 This is why Jesus Ramirez is one of, if not the best photoshop tutorial guys ever. These little gems he drops in, like right clicking to make the ruler a percentage instead of pixels, are so freakin' useful. Any tutorial with Jesus should be bookmarked and downloaded. Every video I've watched with him over the years has been excellent (chef's kiss). Can't recommend this guy enough.
update on the review. Spent a lot more time working on it throughout the week. I am still not certain why it's suggested to start from the left (left align text), and then use the path selection tool to position it correctly. I watched multiple tutorials on this that suggested starting from the center. My problem is, if I get used to learning from a certain youtube teacher (PTC for example), I stick with their suggestions no matter what. This goes for multiple PS channels I follow. After numerous attempts at starting from the left (left alignment text), then using the path selection tool to move it, I finally got it. I was able to do exactly what Jesus recommended, but I thought there had to be an easier way. Sure enough, I started from the center using center alignment text, and worked my way outward. It was simple as that. If I wanted to adjust it, I just go into the characters panel. I appreciate the tutorial for sure. It taught me there are many ways to perform certain tasks on PS. That said, Photoshop Training Channel is amazing! I have learned a ton from Jesus, and I look forward to learning more from him.
Thank you Jesus,I'm a beginner in designing and trying hard to learn from youtube tutorials, as I never done designing before, and now really need it for my printing business and your tutorials really help a lot .God bless you more.
I am a professional photographer and have been working with photoshop for YEARS, but I have only recently had to start working with text in my photos. GREAT TUTORIAL! Clean. Concise. Covered both Mac and PC very quickly! Thanks a ton!
For when you update this Tutorial... Filling a Circle " Hard Times make Strong Men make Good Times make Weak Men make " I figure circular reasoning like this would go great as a circle. But every time I guessed at the font size or Set Tracking I would have a large gap or text overlap. Your video helped me work out a solution by pointing out the start and end points on the path. My solution was to set the start and end points to the same spot and in the Paragraph tab set it to Justify All. when the gap closed completely I just added a space to the front of my text. Now my text forms a complete circle.
I've been using photoshop since version 7 but I don't know how to type text to path. Either I compose the logo I create in CorelDraw where I'm ever since used to in using the type text to path tool there or with set the text to path in CorelDraw but will compose the rest of the logo in photoshop. That method totally worked out for me and have been using it for a couple of decades as a graphic artist. I know that it's knida hassle switching between apps when creating a logo, but I got used it like it was the easiest way. But now, thanks to you man, I can continouosly make logos in photoshop without switching to corelDraw any more just to make text to path. You've been a big help and it's a life changing... hahaha! 😅
I just discovered your channel while looking for this specific type of tutorial and I must say I've watched a lot of Photoshop tutorials but your approach and explanation are really exceptional. Thank you.
O really miss your videos Mr. Ramirez. I can't start to explain how this channel has helped my Photoshop and graphic design in general. Thanks a lot sir
Just came here for the bit about adding text to the bottom/inside of a circle but this is a great run through of the whole process, I had no idea about using the Path Select tool
Is this ever the best Photoshop tutorial RUclips channel you are amazing and you break it down so simply that you help even a person like me succeed which is just outstanding thank you thank you thank you
A great take on a classic subject! And I did learn something new - I never thought of using the start-end points in combination with the "center" text attribute as a way of centering the text (once placed along the path). It's a great method. Thanks!
I wanted to update a logo. Before I had to make the circular text in another program which I no longer have on my PC. This way is soooo much better. Thanks, your a star. Subscribed and liked.
you rock, Jesus! I am relatively new to PS, and typing text in a circle is brand new to me. This tutorial is amazing! I learned how to do it after practicing all weekend. That said, for me, it's easier to start from the center and work my way out. I am using the path tool like you suggested. However, I just place the start tool pointers on each side, center the text, and then adjust it as needed using the arrow up or down. Thanks again!
I would give you a hundred thumbs up if I could. The explanation on aligning text to the center of a circle was absolute spot-on, and exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Hi Jesús, I'm total newbie with Photoshop, but this tutorial was SO great that I've learned all the things in it. You are great and you deserve a lot of thanks. So - thank you very much :-)
Jesus, @ 6:40 I love that you show tips that may be insignificant to others who already know them but still make the time to show us, newbies. Keep up the great tutorials!
I watched many videos to figure this, yours was the best explained. I however, had a little problem figuring out the dots on the path and which direction needs to move which. I guess that will come with practice. Thanks for posting this Jesus.
I will watch all your tutorials just to see your sparkly eyes! (Not being sexist. I'm old enough to be your mom. You just look like you are having a fun time and it makes me smile!) I will also watch them for the info. This was great! Thanks man!
