I have been struggling with this for years, and had been using arc tool - but it always looked a bit 'off' whatever I did.
For the first time today following your instructions (with many pauses and back tracks to check where you were going on screen) I have been able to create my logo properly. I'm extremely pleased with the result!!
THANK YOU ERIC!! You are a STAR.

I can't thank you enough, Eric, for such a good video on how to do this!! I was able to pause and rewind as many times as I needed to make this work for the logo I was creating. Your soothing voice definitely calmed my nerves while I rewound to see what I had done wrong a number of times. Photoshop is one of those things where one wrong move can send you into an alternate universe!!

I just want thank you for making such a great tutorial. Not only is this tutorial easy to follow, but it's clear, organized, and has great timing between steps. After viewing so many inadequate tutorials on RUclips, one has to acknowledge a job well done. Great Job, Eric!

Eric, Thank You for the Video. What't great about it is you take your time explaining all of the nuances in a very detailed fashion so when I need to review something that I missed, it's easy to go back. A lot of excellent designers tend to rush thru their instructional videos using shortcuts that they don't necessairly point out. When this happens, I fall right of the training boat, and then I need to guess at what they just did. So again, Thank You! Scotty

Here are some additional hints for those using Photoshop CC 2014:
    1. Hold down the "alt" key in order to draw an ellipse from the center. Hold down the "shift" key as well to make a circle.
    2. Then right-click on the ellipse and select "Make Work Path". Everything else is the same.

Great tutorial getting the text to the path doesn't work for me and it's driving me up the wall I get the circular path. I can see it in the Paths tab. I have reset the character tab and then selected my font and size. then I move the cursor until it changes to the "wavy line" version as I move to the path. I click and start typing text. And it appears in a straight line. Tried this over and over and over gain and actually got it to work ONCE (with the wrong font and size) after about 50 attempts. It really shouldn't be so insanely difficult. I've wasted over an hour on this and had to give up.

    Great tutorial, Sir.
We can also use a different method to align our circle to the exact center point of our document by creating a circle on any random point as it's center then press Control+A to select the layer, press V (move tool) then select "Align vertical centers" and again select "Align horizontal centers". And we are done with our shape perfectly in the middle of the document, same with rest of the layers.

Thank you, Eric. Many very useful tips and your helpfulness is appreciated. I would kindly suggest (to all tutorial makers) to please provide the software release version as Adobe likes to "rearrange the furniture." I got lost several places b/c of version differences. For example, I use CS 5.5 and the pathway text positioning tools are under the EDIT_Transform menu. To flip the lower text in Eric's example (in CS 5.5), highlight the path, then the text, then flip the horizontal. Following this, use text editing tools (baseline shift) to set text on desired circular path. At least, this worked for me!

Excellent tutorial, thanks! Your time menu is a nice touch, too. I was looking for text on a circle and was able to jump right to that section. I liked that so much I went back and watched the whole thing. Learned a lot about paths and shapes that I didn't know before. Subscribed. Going to look for some of your Lightroom tuts now. Thanks again!

Thanks, this was really helpful. I needed this for the text on the bottom, and the instructions worked perfectly. I'm using PS CC 2014, and all the tools were the same.

One thing I believe you overlooked is that you can select all, then go to the Layers Menu while you are actively working on any of the circle layers> Choose Align> Align to Vertical centers and to Horizontal centers. Et voila the layer will be perfectly centred, repeat this for all of the circle layers and you're done, without any of the fiddly setup and it's even more accurate than clicking on a magnified centre.
Apart from that, great tutorial, thanks :)

    Wow, Eric-
Great response time! It's 1:07 into the video when one should select the ellipse tool and 'click down' that nothing further happens; no window opens which might allow my choosing the dimensions of the ellipse. I'm using CS3 - could that be the problem? Thanks in advance - Steve

    Hi thanks for the upload.
I'm struggling to find how to select the size of the ellipse, when you say to click down and it brings up the window mine doesn't seem to do this....help
    Thanks.
