Ahhh, in most southern states these people were considered trespassers and this would not happen. Why did Gov. allow this to happen for years, putting property owners into bankruptcy while squatters lived their lives free.

EVERY state needs to start standing up for property owner's rights. In AZ, the "gov" vetoed a bill that would make squatting the crime that it is and allow police to remove them. People, if your state legislators or governors won't stand up for property rights, vote for those who will. YOU control who is elected, not the "parties." Elections ARE coming- vote wisely.
All of the other 49 States and all TERRITORIES need to follow FLORIDA'S LEAD on this law.❗

Squatter Bill was needed a long time ago, maybe another Bill go after companies that buy up available first time homes or inexpensive homes being bought up so rentals have become very expensive to rent some who are on income which limit ability to pay those rents. Who have hurt most are small investor mom and pop outfits trying to buy homes as income , -5-10 homes for rental income is one thing but 13,000 or 20,000 homes for rental is bad . If hedge fund investors want to buy multi units leave them to condo high rises or large apartment blocks no first time buyer homes, I have 2 sons who have problem getting into there first home. Squatter laws yes its needed

California desperately needs you. Here in Merced, CA if house is not rented or not occupied owner needs to file a No Trespass Letter with police and post a No Trespass sign at the house. Only if squatters break in and detected can police arrest and immediately remove squatters before they acquire tenant rights within days.

The main reason they can squat is tenant disputes/castle doctrine .
Ergo notifying the public and officials , removes the courts doubt with oral contracts and implied leases .
I was thinking some one could also make a legal posting in some paper ( prob realestate ?)
To say this person will not rent / lease or allow habitation on said property without such n such documentation . To maybe also remove the courts doubt ???

He is a smart man that got to work and made a living fixing,renting and selling and because of squatters he can't live the life he worked so hard to creat for himself. He's losing more than what he's making cause they wreck his homes.

What if homeowner calls police and squatter shows them fake lease agreement?
They also have to prove rent payments. If not they are removed and their fake lease is shown to the judge.

In addition to being incredibly time consuming and very costly to remove squatters from your legally owned property, squatters also destroy people's properties, they vandalize the properties they take over and they're not held responsible.
It is a horrible nightmare for the home owners, and very traumatizing.
Unbelievable that laws do not protect the home owners.

Hi! Can’t believe this is real and the story on Reddit was about you! I have a question. What about renters who stopped paying rent and now the house owner is selling the house with the renters who are not paying rent. Family members are looking to buy that house but we just found out about what really happening there and not sure what to do.
The neighbors say there are people coming and going to and out the house along with trash bing piled up on the side of the drive way. Also there are children involved as in living in the house with who ever isn’t paying rent.
I can help with that also. As far as I’m concerned non paying renters are squatters.

Your family members need to not close on buying the house until a final walk-through they do proves the house is vacant. Otherwise it becomes their problem.

Too little too late. How many law abiding property owners have had to make two mortgages while squatters lived for years rent free? How many lost homes and filed bankruptcy? CA needs to step up and reverse all the damage done to these legitimate, legal owners.
The only positive thing he's done since he's been governor. I am so glad I left that state. I lived there from 1986 to 1996 - It was friggin awesome back then.

@@FlashShelton - I actually hate politics and the BS that comes with it. Anything any leader does to make things better for the people is a good thing. Like I said, I lived down there from 86 to 96... I lived in Miami. Life was fantastic and no one gave a shit about politicians or politics. The only thing people were pissed about down there was that Bush 1 took too long to send help for hurricane Andrew. To me, Desantis might do some good things, but gets involved in crap he has no business dealing with. Get rid of squatters in all 50 states and other BS like that, that's great.
