- Adam Fleischman Umami Burger founder found Squatting on Senior Widow calls the police on me when I attempt squatter intervention. I use it as a way to show how a situation with the Los Angeles Police Department is handled and how they support what I’m doing and Squatter law change. Squatter is told we are allowed to be in the house and we can video all his movements. If he wants privacy he should stay in his room. Flash, I remember watching your original video when you got the squatters out of your mom’s house in such a simple, but genius way and thought to myself, “This guy could be a squatter squasher and go around getting these parasites out of peoples homes”, and now you are actually doing it! I see big things in your future and commend you on your mission of helping rewrite the laws that have given these freeloaders shelter for far too long.

@FlashShelton Following up to find out if this will be a TV show ? My aunt in NY has had a squatter in her place for a few years now. They aren't paying rent but she must still pay the mortgage on the brownstone to keep it out of foreclosure.

He failed to protect his own assets and when his restaurant was in the gutter, he moved in to this ladies house. Forcefully. He has made living there a nightmare, which caused her Roomate’s, one of 15 years, to move out. This lady was at her wits end.

Great work - like u i grew up poor being evicted and this kind of behavior is unacceptable. My grandmother was conned just this way and they eventually took every thing she had and i am still convinced they killed my step grandfather. After many 1000s in legal fees we got rid of a group of parasites who had exploited many other families, but to settle we literally had to agree never to come after the ring leader. This Adam guy reminds me of the same group of psychopaths we experienced.

Truly sad, I believe whole heartedly that Adam’s actions contributed. She told me she was just so tired mentally. She was being faced with losing the house she had lived in for 29 years with her recently deceased husband. I think it was all just too much for her and she was done fighting. These officers are really something else and I mean that in a good way. These guys went out of their way, listened to all parties, knew exactly what Flash was trying to accomplish and basically gave him the A-Okay body gesture. Long before it was law in Florida. We went hands on and junk removal services were called and if ability to walk was desired . Don’t come back. Weak politicians and corrupt government allowed this.

This sounds like my tenants. She didn’t pay for two months and the time I give her an addiction notice via my lawyer and mail. She calls the Attorney General of New York saying that I am harassing her. The next day I get a letter from the attorney general telling me to stop. It was a cease and desist letter.
Why not go into "his" room, dispose of all his crap and then ask him, "What stuff? Don't know what your talking about."

How is a squatter afforded privacy rights in a bedroom, in a house, that does not belong to him and that he's not renting? That is crazy! If you prove the property is yours, you should be able to drag is a$$ out of that property! I call it common sense.

Utility companies should ONLY turn them on when the homeowner is requesting it. Property records are available online and with an owner photo ID this would make it a lot harder for squatters.

People!!! If this Squatter is in a home, occupying a bedroom where there is shared common areas, shared bathroom and Kitchen, then this person is not assuming tenancy. This person would be considered a Lodger. A lodger simply needs to get a 30-day notice if in the home under 1 year, or a 60-day notice if in the home over a year. If the Lodger fails to leave, the owner who shares the home simply has to file a trespassers order with LAPD. At that point the police can kick them out. The two officers and all of LAPD and surrounding law enforcement keep violating / ignoring California Code, Civil Code - CIV § 1946.5, and fail to enforce CA Penal Code Section 602.3. I pushed a Lodger out in this manner, and I refused LAPD the satisfaction to set me aside. I showed their watch commander the law, asked them to speak to their legal department. I got my trespassers order, and out they went.
Nice work, Please keep it up. The bottom line is these people are stealing from the property owners, it cost money to maintain property and eventually one would think those costs would add up to (not sure the $ amount) theft and or even grand theft, which is a criminal act. Good luck! I know I would never give this guy business at his restaurant....

Jam super loud annoying music. You are allowed to change your FUSE box and if it takes a some time (AC down) so be it you are learning. Change the locks then call the cops for B & E (with no lease). The sure know how to play the BS game.
thing is due to laws, hes legally a tenant, and tenants have rights. You would get in trouble for shutting the utilities off, etc. There are various ways of becoming a legal tenant, signing a lease is just one of them. If you live in a place long enough, even uninvited, you become a tenant (unless the place cant legally have tenants in the first place, such as abandoned office space)
As I confirmed with the police I as another tenant can turn off utilities without notice to do repairs. Unlike a homeowner that requires notice. Also tenants rights don’t include having access to A/C. But they do require heat but there is nothing about how much heat so I will turn up the heat to an unbearable level and remove A/C breaker.
I’ve been so happy about the unusually cool temperatures until right now.

Ive heard of landlords removing large windows and front doors, on squatters. Might be useful in certain, high traffic areas. Helps them feel safe and secure at night!

Why not shut off all the utilities and the water. No one is going to stay in a home without water to flush toilets or lights at night or electricity to plug in their electronics.
